Yeah it works, but you loose the lowlight advantage in S35, I found FF mode still give u more much cleaner image, and you lose the FF bokeh look unless you got speedbooster with EF lens. But if u just use apsc for that 4k60p and ff prime for stills I think it can work. Better than 28-75 on S35 cause it will be too narrow

I agree with Django that feels like home video vibe, I really dont like the 50p/60p mode on youtube except for sports which i dont mind. Good thing in PAL land is 25P still feel cinematicish vs 30p on NTSC

That guy is really good, definitely a filmmaker and not a youtuber/tiktoker, compare to his other travel film done on a6500 3 years ago he improved quite a lot! (and he is quite young) I doubt avg joe or even experienced one can create that kind of work.

Look at ZV-1F... what a failure that one is, and dont get me started on the QX series! Though still kudo for them to try something different, I just wish they could use a better sensor, the R6II's sensor seem to be pefect for E1 with FF 4K60P, enough res to crop anything and still have proper 4K. Maybe Canon should do one out side the box vlogging camera too, they should really scratch that C50/R7C and make a E1 competitor, cause that where the money is

So I guess they gonna let this power sucking problem keep going? That is quite a disappointment. They really need to implant a serious power saving mode during standby.

Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

The default profile on Sony is quite greenish and yellow, I thought they would have fixed it by IV.. -
Sony lack of firmware updates is getting completely ridiculous!

Still better than the how many firmware that A7SIII got for $3500 when it was released, A7SIII could really use the IBIS shift to make its MP much bigger for starter. At least if I want really high resolution I have the option, rather than no option. Though I hope it will have RAW in the future like other brand do. I kinda feel for A7SIII user, paying big money but the service that Sony provide is pretty skimpy. -
Yeah

Meanwhile R5 got new firmware that does 402MP photos from ibis shift, not bad for a cam that is older than a7siii. -
Interesting is if you use it for external HDMI it can still overheat I guess it is really for vlogging camera.
-
And micro hdmi .. suddenly on Sony that is not a flaw.

For pros FX30 is a much more reliable camera with the active cooling. Sony should have priced this at $1500 to match the R8, at $2200 it is a bit overpriced with no evf, no mechanical shutter (have fun take photo under fluorescent or some odd light) , overheats in 4k60p, no crop mode 4k.

Wonder which camera will last longer at 4k60P, the og R6 or this new Sony cam?

Now it is a surprise - DPReview is closing

Damn that is shocking indeed! But giving the current economy situation I can kinda see many corpo want to cut as much cost as possible. -

Thanks to tiktok this camera is the next PS5 in terms of price gauging, even older X100 series benefit by having their resell value going up to. I wish I bought one of the used ones last year as now the price is really nuts!

https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-to-release-major-firmware-update-for-the-canon-eos-r5/ I will be really super happy if they remove the 30 min limit and have lens breathing correction, the rest of them is icing on the cake. On the other hand that mean no R5II this year.
-
The simple fact is video quality on R8 should be better than any other similar price camera because of supersampled 4k60p from 6K sensor, not just uncropped FF4K60P with line skipping or pixel bining or S35 crop. Some Cinema cameras don't have IS, AF, and need to be rigged with external battery, but I don't hear ppl bashing hard out on those short coming.

I know quite a lot of company nowadays uses ChatGPT to write the content.. even my company does too and we have a full time copy writer.

If u look at the top it have photo and video mode switch just like R7/R6ii, so this is way better than R6 who can't even have custom c1/c2 mode for video.
-
I personally dont mind the lack of IBIS because on the UW the IBIS wobble is way too noticeable, and majority of RF lens have IS, I for one might be switching the R7 to this lol, much better 4K60P quality than my R5/R7 😂 And 4K60P is limited to 30min vs unlimited on R6II/R7/R10 (4K30 on R8 is unlimited) , though for long session I only use 4K25P/30P anyway.
-
I don't think R7 is above S5II, that wobble on wide angle is not great.. Once I got my friend's S5II I could test it vs my R7/R5 though.
-
The m2 pro Mac mini will fit most of my needs so might get that in the future.
-
Well that one aspect of what I love about R5, no crop on any mode with 8k/4k120p/4k60p/4k30p etc. But IBIS even though better Sony's but not as stable as Pany that for sure.

I beg to differ, I think the color from GH6 and onward is quite pleasant looking. I edited a video with GH6/R5/GH5S a few months before. GH6 was on nature profile but straight out of cam it just look nice, GH5S have that slight magenta and clinical look. In the end I try to match to R5 to that of GH6 nature profile as I found it look nicer. One big downside of R6II for me is screen goes blank if u have hdmi out and recording at same time, not good for some of the events or shoot I do without getting external monitor involved to make it work.
