  1. Those thermal pads make quite a lot of difference!
  2. Brochure with all the cinema lens, so C100MKII and C70 are similar in weight? https://www.dropbox.com/s/umzhekf05fagba4/Cinema_EOS_Comparison_Sheet_200922.pdf
  3. Blackmagic is using "free" version to lure people in, once they got stuck its hard for people to move out to another NLE which I see is happening now, so either get BRAW camera or use other NLE I am afraid. Thankfully Sigma FP can do both. But yeah there is no "free" lunch whatsoever.. always a goal behind it.
  4. its more about locking into an eco system than cameras for Blackmagic. Blackmagic - BRAW/Cameras/Davinci/Fusion from shoot to edit, isn't their latest 12K camera shoot only BRAW? RED - RED RAW and Red accessories that lock the user (less so with komodo on accessory) Apple- Prores/FCX Remember, they are profit driven first, not some charity!
  5. So did a 7hr music video shoot today from 4-11pm (sunset 7:40pm here) R5 did see 4k50p drop to 25min a few times, but most of the time is 29.59. Used another 1 and half battery, and 1 128gb and 1 64gb card, I really need a 256gb sd card for 4k50p.
  6. Yeah R6 will be my ideal camera if not for the overheating. I think the 30MP on R is the sweetspot for me. I usually shoot medium size on those large mp camera. Just R5 have the option for longer recording if needed, R6 will have to use Full HD. If R6 have LQ4k mode that will be sweet too.
  7. That on R6, I been using on R5 for a few shoot but haven't seen overheating sign yet. Just sold my EOS R as I can really use R5 for pro shoot.
  8. Did a MV shoot last night, shooting everything 4k50p both internally and to Ninja V, no overheating after 1 and half battery. Got another shoot on Sunday and will update on that. The Sigma Art 35 1.4 works pretty well.. like it more than my rf 35 1.8
  9. Well Apple and Blackmagic are direct RAW format competitor, so doubtful it will be supported anytime soon. Either go Final cut or Premiere, or pick camera with BRAW? I myself might go get Macbook with Final cut for best prores raw support, and i never used final cut ever..
  10. Quick Vlog test during lunch break
  11. Finally got S5 back from friend, I do love the look of s5 more than other brand.. really digging the vintage vibe it gives out! The Sigma 45mm 2.8 have this clicking sound when in video AF, in MF it is silent. Wonder has anyone else encounter this? The 20-60 is quite silent on the other hand.
  12. DR result out, lower than what Gerald tested? https://www.cined.com/sony-a7s-iii-lab-test-does-it-live-up-to-the-hype/
  13. That is very true, hence I m moving away from wedding, profit margin just too low vs corporate or motorspot for billionaire.
  14. 2010 and 2020 is quite a lot of difference The house price went from avg $440K to $950K here, but the wage didn't increase double. As result of that more people just do civil marriage or smaller weddings, and the number of people getting married is down each year as well, while more wedding videographer pop up each year as equipment is getting much easier and cheaper to aquire. So more people grabbing a shrinking pie. We done jibs before too, album covers, poster etc, and even rent Red Helium. Just the overall trend of wedding market is down in general. I stopped wedding as my main income around 2016, I only do second shoots if my video friend need help, otherwise i just defer inquiry to my friends as it just not worth the hassle for me when I get better return elsewhere.
  15. Rode Wireless Go and Blink 500 are only good for short distance, for long distance or have view blocked (like body facing away from camera) a G3/G4 will be much better. So it depend on your distance
  16. In here video always get paid less than photographer for wedding, but for corporate it's the otherway round. I get paid more for covering motospot races than full on wedding.
  17. I haven't tried the 24/25/30p so can't comment, theoretically it should give less heat than 4KHQ Well here is my thought on the R5 after the race day 1. AF The most reliable method for me is the Zone AF, tracking AF on cars can get lost when I also do the panning or when the car is down to certain area on screen or if there is a lot of cars which can block the view. Expand AF can get OoF once the car goes past and I have to use manual to get back in focus quickly otherwise it is really really slow to get back to focus. (with telephoto lens), There is still occasional focus hunt when I panning across to follow the car (from forward to sideway) 2. Custom Video Mode Major advantage over R6 is the custom video mode, currently I have set to FHD/4K50P/4K100P, so when I want to change I just press the mode and change. I can totally feel the pain for R6 user which currently doesn't have this, Canon should really update R6 for this feature. 3. Movie Crop Mode You can't set the movie crop mode to a custom key which is super dumb, I have to go to menu each time i want to do crop mode, on Sony and Panasonic you can set key for much faster access. If you shoot in crop mode and change to your custom mode it will still shoot in crop mode (unless in 4K100/120/8K). 4. NTSC/PAL Selector Much better done on Canon than Sony or Panasonic, just change the frequency and shoot, no need to format card (Sony) or restart camera (Panasonic), so if I need more slowmo I just change to NTSC and keep on shooting. 5. Battery Issue I had problem where it just suddenly give me error when using EF Lens on the adapter on the genuine LP-E6N battery, I have to use LP-E6NH to make the problem go away. I will need to investigate this more. Though I feel I might get more LP-E6NH at end and sell the old LP-E6N. 6. No CLOG on H.264 This is probably the most dumbest move on Canon, we get that HEVC offer twice the efficiency but the bitrate is quite healthy on the H.264, there is absolute no technical issue for clog not on H.264! Hope Canon can really fix this as X.265 is so awful to edit. There is HDR PQ to increase DR on H.264 if you dont want X.265 or Andrew's EOSHD Clog to emulate Clog on H.264, I used cinestyle as it matches up with the 1DX2 which also use cinestyle to help with edit in post as the video is due next day. My editor have no problem editing the 4K50P on H.264, though 4K100P is still lag feast on Ryzen 7 4800H. Other than that the editor say the video quality is definitely better than the C100MKII I shot on previous race, unfortunately we can't share our video as it belongs to the TV station (for subscriber only) but here is the video from the team's media team (some of my R5 footage is from 4:36 onwards)
  18. So breaking forum rule is ok without remorse at all? Doesnt seem fair to us who try to follow the rule?
  19. I got less time on S35 in 4K50P than FF 4K50p (20min vs 30min), FF 4K50p/60p is not oversampled. 4K Screengrab from R5, I think i can just grab stills from video.. much easier this way., rolling shutter is quite acceptable on R5.
  20. Why i m not surprised when it comes to Sony they always have this kind of hidden agent everywhere, there was a korean guy keep posting sony stuff on the c70 group the other day. Too many Sony undercover nowadays.
  21. This video kinda confirms what I see.. Panasonic Vlog is the most robust codec so far, can be over and under exposure and still can get away, Sony you will have to use non log profile to have "clean" lowlight, underexposed slog is so ugly.
  22. Yeah the devil is in the detail! R6 dont have reliable long session 4k is a huge bummer, the C70's AF apparently is just slightly better than C300 III but nowhere near the same as DPAF II on the R5/R6/1DXIII. This race I was shooting in cinestyle instead of clog because of fast turnaround we need (due next morning), editor have no problem editing 4k50p on H.264, 4k100p is still quite laggy but we do not using too many of those as our is for TV segment while the main media team is the artsy stuff. S5 should be really good for your use, I got S5 myself cause it is quite good for the price you pay for the features and more for my side jobs (with anamorphic and stuff). R5 is mainly for company work and some photography. The main video guy for this race team is still on GH5. Here is photo I took on R5 with the RF 600mm, the 600mm is pretty good for the price/size/weight.
  23. Oops I misread your question. I think each country is a bit different in terms of process? From where I am its the shop that supply the lens to you. Other country need to fill a form or something?
  24. The end shot is shot on crop mode on the 600mm F11, so that like 960mm? Most of my shot is few seconds to a min at max. I probably spend half the time walking around the track through out the day. For c70 I will see how next year goes.
  25. Just done the race, to answer your questions, First the race im doing finishes in Nov, c70 will be released in mid dec here, which by that time most of my jobs already done. I can only film cats and dogs by then, I need camera right now. R5 doesn't oveheat in LQ 4K25/30 so that all goods for interviews and stuff, and quality is sill much better than 1080p. 4k50/60 seems to shoot much more longer than R6? I done mixed of 4k100p, 4k50p and FHD50p from 9am to 5pm on the track. I always got 20 (crop)-30min (ff) 4k50p left, just 4k120p I got it down to 5 min by the end of the race but no overheating sign whatsoever. I got CFexpress 512gb and 128gb Sony m card inside the camera, temp is around 22c during the day The DoF is quite thin when you zoom out a lot, there were still quite a bit of focusing to do at f11 at 600mm focla length.
