Highly contradictory reviews on EOS R6 overheating limitation
ntblowz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
There is oversampling S35 mode for 4K60P for higher quality mode on the R5 And Isn't @JordanWright commenting on this forum too, maybe he can shade some light himself? -
Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K

4K pixel binning still got more detail than 1080P upscaled on my 4K monitor APSC mode is the way to go for 4K60P on R5 for best quality. Guess that sigma 18-35 still have some use. -
I guess the weather sealing is too good on their camera 🤣

Could be recording 100p slow down to 50p externally, meaning no sound.

Look like best quality will be shooting in 4k hq or apsc mode which does oversampling 4k normal reminds me of a7rii FF 4k -
Really curious what are those 2 small boxes? The right back one seem like orange coloured box, could it be sensor of some sort ?

-
Well they did gave us 8k when everyone was doubting back then, and canonrumor is quite reliable unlike some other rumor site, guess they will be waiting for a7siii and decide what to counter.

Interesting to see X-T4 last even shorter on the same sun than R5 do, but in the shade it can record few min longer. No one can touch Panasonic on those torture test! -
Just the used 1080ti seem to be the cheapest option for a slightly bigger memory than 8GB from current mid/top end graphic cards. (unless next gen will suddenly given more RAM but I doubt it) I guess if just edit 8k as stock footage should be ok, but for any heavy editing will definitely need Titan RTX. (or Ampere based Titan?)
-
Wonder is there a way to report it, or does it have to be original content owner to report them for stolen footage?
-
Forgot there is also Titan RTX with 24GB memory, should be enough for 8k timeline?
-
Looks like Quadro RTX 6000 fits the bill.. which cost more than R5 😂 Wonder will 1080ti's 11GB be more stable for quarter res?
-
Why 2 usb-c and 1 microhdmi? I rather have 1 usb-c and full size hdmi. no 422 10bit in 4k120p is disappointing though, consider it's only 12MP unlike Canon's 45MP Still waiting to see if it have PDAF or not

There are raw footage of those 8K RAW or 4K120P out there which you can check them out yourself, kinda hard to judge DR from youtube videos which graded to extreme. The only suggestion I have for Canon is bring the Clog to 8bit H.264 MP4 for fast turnaround scenarios. Atm its is limited to 10bit X.265 which need to transcode in order to play properly even on fairly beast machines.
-
Yeah on the local wedding group seems like quite a few ppl gonna get Z5, they wasnt that keen with z6/z7..
-
Those 4K are H.265 MP4 only, no 4K RAW on R5 atm. (might be planned in the future) 8K RAW https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1orh98TR0jyVYRVLGxAnZh7-1_9E3MNF-

A7sIII gonna be $3500, so $300 more than the release price of A7SII
-
Those ones are rare for us too, but i know agencies have plenty of those jobs, and paying contractor peanuts. Those creative director/producer getting big chunks of shares. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dA1Em-D2ioEJU5jInk_JT_EsQGVIprCZ

Well there is Ninja V which can do prores For us we dont have many same day edit/due next day project, most of them is few days and some few months (those usually are 5-60k projects)
-
I guess batch converting to prores is probably the way R5's X.265 10bit 4K120p is laggy on my i7-9700K with RTX 2070 8GB, 32GB RAM & 2TB Samsung SSD on premiere 2020 after converting to prores it can playback smoothly, cpu is using 66% and gpu 12% (premiere really underutilize the gpu)

Canon 9th July "Reimagine" event for EOS R5 and R6 unveiling
ntblowz replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
24-105 7.1 + r6 is quite light comparatively speaking (other RF lens they provide is quite heavy), around same weight as gh5 + 12-35mm 2.8 Much fatter than 70-200mm 2.8, 28-70 weight is 1.43kg while 70-200 is 1.07kg, you can feel the mass of 28-70mm after trying out the 70-200. -

Had a play at local camera store where they have R5/R6 to play The guy said R5 is the final production while their R6 is still pre-production one My u3 card last 4 seconds on 8kIBP, on 4k50p ibp it is fine , guess u really need UHS-II for All-I or 8K IBP. Auto focus is really good, can detect person's eye against the light (window) even though the person is really dark on the camera IBIS on the 85 DS is much more smoother than the A7R4 we had with us. I can definitely fake a few gimbal/slider shot with the R5/R6 vs with my R. R6 with the 24-105 7.1 focus quite fast inside the shop at 7.1 aperture. And after playing with 28-70 i m never gonna get this lens at all, it is just too heavy and big. The 70-200 2.8 RF is surprisingly light on the other hand. -
