Shoulder rig for a mirrorless camera - how not to go overboard?
ntblowz replied to heart0less's topic in Cameras
Client is all good with us since he is a former all black and our producer is a big rugby fan, they hit off really well ? beside he is paying over 10k for this job so we have to show him we are “pro” lol Yeah setting up and shooting is bit of pain but client know where his budget gone to, he will be disappointed if a tiny camera showed up instead ? Btw we never shoot without blocking or storyboarding, even if it’s the shoot day, sometimes you need to man up, too much time we bow to them like low peasants and in the long run they are getting spoiled This is what I shot usually for my own stuff, a simple cage with handle is all I need -
Shoulder rig for a mirrorless camera - how not to go overboard?

This guy done a reasonable compact shoulder rig without overboarding me went overboard the other day -
8 bit 420 couldn’t really hold up in resolve that well if you want a certain look that is more extremely graded than usual, our company was planning to get c200 since we have few c100mkii atm, but after doing a $20k job (using my Gh5s/gh5 beside the c100) now we have hard time deciding ? , the 420 8bit in c100 is a pain in the bum for our colour stylist unlike gh5’s 422 10bit raw as is not a option for us since we already have a hard time keep up with free space giving the volume we are working

Im pretty sure nx500 still use pdaf even in 4K, unlike m50 uses cdaf in 4K, so nx500 is much better usability wise in terms of tracking in 4K

This is what I use on GH5S (and my 200D), the IS works fine for handheld and bokeh is nice (Canon 35mm F2 IS USM), on XL and 5S crop it becomes 42mm F1.3 lens The Sigma 18-35mm is strictly on the GH5 because of IBIS.
-
On a normal M43 sensor it is 24mm, but since GH5S use a slightly larger sensor so it is wider when shooting 3:2/16:9 vs 4:3 of native M43 sensor. I think it was 1.86x on 16:9 so 1.86*12 = 22.32mm

I dont think 12mm on GH5S will be equivalent to 21mm, I think it more like 22mm?

GH5S & Ninja Inferno DCI 4k 60fps 10bit stuttering/chopping

Probably need to contact Panasonic for this problem, I don’t have external recorder to test it out -
They feel $779 is too expensive while found $2000 is a bargain price on some camera, what a world we living!
-
Can't believe that one still happening with the latest camera, I had that on some of my Sony photos but haven't seen one on my Panasonic cams yet
-
This also ship in April too while I will be in Japan, I wonder how much discount I could get lol (much better than M50 for me)
-
It was around that for a while for a7rii in Oz, I bet it gonna drop even more since a7iii will be so much better for everything else if u don’t need 42mp
-
Just found out GH5S allows you to transfer RAW photo to your cellphone wireless, most other camera I use only allow jpeg transfer.
-
I wouldn't shoot lens without IS unless it got IBIS, but that just me Anyway the timing is good for me since I will be going to Japan in April, and they are pretty cheap in Japan. (with additional 8% tax rebate even cheaper!)
-
woah! totally blow the a7SII @ 120fps away
-
Then what the point of DPAF in the first place lol?
-
Oops there is actually one with electronic connector.. custom hand made though https://www.ebay.com/itm/EOS-EOSM-Focal-reducer-Auto-focus-adapter-EF-EFM-EF-to-EFM-EOS-to-EOSM-Booster/302623520529?hash=item4675c47711:g:jj0AAOSwPhdVPkMd Wonder if Chinese brand will jump onboard
-
unfortunately there is no speedbooster for EF-EF-M
-
Well I ordered Canon 35mm F2 IS USM just few days ago, with the EF adapter this will be a nice combo for video! You get nice bokeh and IS. Video kit probably add rode videomic go and a 32gb sd card like the rest of their rebel video kit.
-
Pretty sure vlogger using m6 and G7x a lot lol, not many people use pana for vlogger in the first place. You'd think rx100 will be the first to be popular with vlogger but most one i've seen use G7X .
-
They are for totally different market, but I will get this to replace my 200D if the there are indeed video quality improvement, loving my GH5/GH5S for paid job though.
-
The leaked 2000D feels like the proper successor to 1300D with 24MP sensor, the rest is the same though (same old Digic 4+ cpu)
-
this cam remind me of the Sony A3000/A3500 series

More detailed spec https://www.canonwatch.com/canon-eos-m50-images-specifications-4k-25p/ 24.1 Megapixels APS-C CMOS DIGIC 8 Dual pixel CMOS AF with greatly improved performance AF area is enlarged by about 38% with corresponding lens (100% vertical × 88% wide in live view image display range) The selectable AF point is a corresponding lens with a maximum of 143 points (99 points for non-compatible lenses) EYE AF Video: 4K 25p / 24p, FHD 60p, HD 120p Frame cutout from 4K movie is possible 5 Axis Electronic Image Stabilizer · Combination IS 4K up to 25P? fine by me since I live in PAL country, wonder whats this new generation DPAF improvement will bring

If its comes in 4K and around M6 price I might be in! To replace that 200D.
