  1. My bad. I thought the camera was already out in the wild, at least in the hands of a few testers.
  2. This is really good to know. I think version III is a bit too expensive for me right now, so I'll go with II instead and forget about version I. Thanks so much!
  3. Hello, all. I need to get myself a wide angle zoom lens for my Canon 1DX II, and have been looking at the 16-25mm f/2.8 lenses. They just announced version III of the lens, but it's expensive at $2199: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1274708-REG/canon_ef_16_35mm_f_2_8l_iii.html There's also version II, which is significantly cheaper at $1449: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/486708-USA/Canon_1910B002AA_EF_16_35mm_f_2_8L_II.html And finally there's the original version I which goes on Ebay for around $850: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162200877114?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I'm sure the quality of version III is best, but how bad is version I compared to version II? And would version I work with the Dual-Pixel Auto Focus of the 1DX II? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Nice. Welcome to the club! Looking forward to seeing your review and videos with the 1DX II.
  5. Can anyone confirm if one can use the HDMI output to record video clips longer than 30 minutes?
  6. 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 is amazing! However, I need Dual-Pixel Auto Focus in my cameras from now on. If this has movie autofocus that works as well as the 1DX Mk II or 5D Mk IV then I'm definitely buying it. Otherwise, I'll probably stick with Canon for the time being.
  7. Some questions: Can it record clips longer than 30 minutes in a row (like a 2 hour uninterrupted event)? Does it have 24p? Will DPAF work with regular Canon EF lenses (like the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II lens) ? Does it have clean HDMI output for external recording? If the answer to any of these is "no" then it's definitely not for me. If they're all "yes" then I would be very interested.
  8. Not usually, but I wanted to try it out and it worked great. But for stills photos it's better not to shoot in live view mode. The normal AF for stills is ridiculously fast and accurate.
  9. I just got my 1DXmkII a few weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to use it for video much yet, but for photos the DPAF is incredible. I've goofed around at home with shooting video, and the AF is just as good for video. I'm gearing up to use it in a professional gig for video next week and will report back.
  10. This looks like a really useful picture profile. I just might get it for my new 1DX II in a few days. Having never loaded picture profiles onto a Canon camera before, can you tell me how easy it is to switch from one to the other?
  11. Exactly. DPAF and 4K 60p make a great case for the 1DX II, even without C-Log.
  12. Oh, how I wish this were true! C-Log and removal of the 30 minute record time limit would make it my ideal camera!
  13. Ideally, yes. But if I'm behind the camera, this at least gives me uninterrupted external recording without the 2-3 second gap I have to deal with now.
  14. It works! I just pressed a button at the 28 minute mark and it kept going longer than 30 minutes! Already at 40 minutes and counting!
  15. Really? I didn't know this. Could you or anyone else with an external recorder and a 1DX II test if you can record longer than 30 minutes? I was about to puchase an Atomos, but not if it won't let me shoot long takes.
  16. Hello, all. I'm trying to figure out ways of extending the recording time of my new 1DX Mark II for long-form events. Since I already have three CFast 2.0 cards for the camera itself, I'm wondering how well the Atomos Ninja Star will work for shooting takes longer than 30 minutes. Does anyone have any experience with the Ninja Star in event shooting? And do we think there would be any issues using it with a 1DXII? Thanks in advance!
  17. Another question: Can you remove the battery from your 1DC without having to take the camera out of the cage?
  18. Awesome. Does that rig keep the camera from twisting inside the cage?
  19. Agreed. If you're going for a natural look, it needs a lot more red in the image. Unless you were specifically going for the greenish Matrix look, in which case I think that works well. It's hard to tell without context.
