http://500px.com/R3dshift Most of these are from my Sri Lanka trip, and usually with the Oly 38mm PEN-F 1.8 that Andrew recommended several months ago, the lens is practically glued to my camera for the most part! Got tonnes of video footage from Sri Lanka that I have yet to edit, combination of laziness and lack of time- but I'll get to that soon...

That is so pretty that I need to sell my 5n and buy the 7 as an accessory to this work of art ???

Hard Drives: Solid State Drives vs. Hard Disk Drives
Amro Othman replied to macuser88's topic in Cameras
My new Alienware laptop is being built now. It's going to have a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD and a 750GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD. Should be stupid fast 8) -
Hehe, thanks very much. :D That train idea sounds great! You should let us know how it goes and share some samples. Are the tracks those blue ones, by any chance?
I will give samples as soon as I shoot something. The tracks aren't blue, grey ones. It's super old, I got it when I was a kid about 15 years ago...

This is the most badass thing I've seen in a long time, Matthew. Massive props! 8) I just might have enough parts to do my own. I also plan on rebuilding my lego train (been in storage for years) and use it as a cool dolly :D

Really nice work! I have the same lens and like it a lot. I should finally just shoot something proper like you have. What kind of tripod do you use? And how do you do the walking shots? Holding the tripod or using some kind of steadycam? Thanks

Ok so I have two Zuiko PEN-F 38mm lenses: They are identical though I think one of them has better coating and wanted you guys to help confirm that: Zuiko A: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/dsc02676ei.jpg/ Zuiko B: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/dsc02677zq.jpg/ I should keep A right? Also, when I shine a light on the front element I see smaller purple flares. On B I see larger yellow ones. Thanks!

This article should help: http://www.eoshd.com/content/5248/latest-gh2-hack-unlocks-stunning-iso-12800-with-film-like-grain

I hope so, a GH3 would make a very nice partner for the 5n

Just saw this- thanks for that Andrew :)

I know I'm nitpicking but you made a typo at the end of the article: "2012 is going to be a big year for Canon product releases, with the 1Dx and G1x followed by the 5D Mark II, 650/700D and possibly even the 4K Cinema EOS camera, mirrorless system and 7D Mark II by the end of the year." Should be Mark III no? :D

Nikon D4 official specs leaked - analysis of new video features
Amro Othman replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Quite interesting, but strange that they still have to scale down to 720p for 60fps -
and I like this technique and will give it a try. In a way its better to get this type of light-leak effect in real life rather than using software!
-
I really like your video dude! The subjects and the colours are great :)
-
Cameras in the US (NTSC) record at 24 and 60fps. Cameras in Europe and middle east, etc record at 25 and 50fps :)
-
Do you have a NEX-5 or NEX-5n? 50p is 50 frames of video per second. 25p is 25 frames of video per second. 50fps is smoother and better for action video and slo-motion work. 25p is better for a cinema/ film look.
-
Andrew I'm guessing you've seen this already... But if you haven't, you probably would like it more than anybody else ;D RED Epic verus Panasonic GH2

Ok so let's say I don't want any slow mo or smooth shots and just want my final piece to be in 25p. I could record in 50p all the time and convert it down to 25p whenever I want. However on the NEX-5n the bitrate for 25p is 24mbps and the 50p is 28mpbs. So does that mean I will get better quality by recording in 25p, versus 50p? Will the bitrate be effectively halved when I convert to 25p? Also, I should try to keep shutter speed at twice the frame-rate, amirite? Thanks in advance...

The quest for a small, light, levelling video tripod and head
Amro Othman replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I actually have roll on my tripod. I think it was made in the early 90's. It actually has a lot of potential but the head needs a little maintenance because it isn't always consistent through a smooth pan. I'll post a photo later... -

I have a very old video of me playing a live cover of Karma Police on guitar with the first girl I ever kissed singing, shot on a Sony F-717... and I still have that old thing. Cameras have come a long way since then ;D -

Anyone here managed to sync two 600s or 5Ds for S3D work?
Amro Othman replied to Karel Bata's topic in Cameras
I saw some kind of mirror box made for 3D work with one camera, but not sure how well it works... -
Camera, light and mic recommendation for internet TV show
Amro Othman replied to switters's topic in Cameras
When people talk about hooking up one mic to a Zoom, I think they usually mean hooking it up to an H4n (that model has 2 preamps and you can connect any mic to it as an option) I also think you should just go ahead and grab a Zoom H1. The H2n has a lot more options but I don't think you need them for what you want. Check out this video, it can give you a general idea how to get the results you want: My Video Setup: Canon 60D + Zoom H1 = Win.
