Yes Stefan. That's vimeo's account. It happend the same to me. No answer at all.I bought time ago a diopter and now I also want to buy more diopters to Redstan but didn't answer. Thanks Axel. It is MJPEG. I think is far better on black and white. Almost done between 160-400 iso and f4. The soundman was Coke Vio. As you said , he did a great job. The guitar is really amazing and has a fantastic sound. It's a unique instrument in the world. The music belongs to ethnics "Mapuche" and Alejandro made these adaptation to classical 10 string guitar. The result is superb. It's world music. Thanks for your help. Francisco.- 6 replies

Axel, Thanks a lot for your time. I decide to work with native. My footage works with a lot of blacks and with compressor's transcode the footage get a lot of posterization even if I convert to prores HQ. Maybe I have to change gamma to fix these issue but after all FCP7 can handle MJEG. On FCP7 happend some misterious things at the beginning and the ends of the cuts. Not really funny but tolerable. I think tomorrow will be ready the first video to show the result. Hi everybody, Here I'm with another question. I shot with my anamorphic and GH2 in 4:3 mode with jpg mov codec in black and white. I shot with nostalgia mode. I would like to convert to prores to work on FCP7, so with prores will be better option to handle post, more speed, etc... The problem is that I saw on my test a gamma shift after the process from conversion with Compressor. The black gone down a little. My expose on camera is already a little down so I really don't want to get lower on these issue. What do you think about these? Maybe is better to work with the native codec. Or maybe someone knows a better app to convert without gamma problems. Best regards. Francisco.

Thanks for your help Nick! I have a moller and sometime with canon fd 50mm there's some vignette. Sometime I like these issue but not always. On the train's video was fine. So ,with BMCC with 50 mm , There will be not vignette at all. It's like the helios 58mm with anamorphic on GH2, On these case I got no vignette. BMCC with anamorphic will be fantastic! Hi, Can anyone help me with these question? Now we can have the option to use BMCC with M4/3 mount,isn't that right? If that's right, can I use my anamorphic lens on BMCC? On GH2 ,with a sankor for example, I have to use at least a 50 mm lens to avoid vignette. How will be these issue with BMCC sensor? Best regards. Francisco.

These is my first and unique test with anamorphic shot with gh2 in JPGmov, black and white. Then I did the conversion 30p to 24p. Thanks for the comments Galenb, I shot with JPGMOV because I wanted a 2.66 aspect ratio. In avchd mode I get 3.55 ratio like the train's video. That extrem aspect is really beautiful but I also want to get 2.66. I don't like 30p and with JPG you can't shoot in 24p. So I did the conversion, I think it works... Best regards.

mmm.... Maybe, I don't really know on these case with JPG Move. I really like to shoot in black and white, and if you have a location with just the local light, probably you will need to boost iso, that means to boost also electronic noise. Hi, Hope someone can help with these issue. I shot in JPG MOV 30p 4:3 with anamorphic Moller 2X in Black and white. Now I want to convert 29.97 to 23.97 . I used compressor to do that task, but the blacks get crushed. To fix that I set in compressor a gamma correction. The original setting is 1,0 and I drop it to 0,86. On that way the picture stay very similar to original. Does anyone else know how to handle in a better way these issue? Best regards. Francisco.

Great article Andrew! Thanks for sharing these knowledge. Something that could be also interesting for low budget filmmakers is to shoot in black and white with GH2 or any cam. Black and white means not to worry about mix any sources with differents colour temperatures. So for example you can mix natural light with tungsten. Even more you can dim the lights without notice colour shifts. Cinematographer Fred Kelemen used lightboard on Bela Tarr 's film "The Turin Horse" Black and white is really beautiful and let us be free from colour, so shadows and light became more powerful. Of course it is essencial to shoot black and white as an aesthetic choice. At last, I like very much one source light. Natural or artificial. Best regards. Best regards. Francisco.

good and cheap ND filters for Canon FD+GH2

My suggestions is a Variable ND: http://specialcameraservice.com/fader-nd-mark-ii/239-fader-nd-mark-ii-52mm.html You will get faster shoots without change the NDs. Maybe more expensive than three cheap ND 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8, but it's the best option for HDSLR video. Best regards.
