  1. Apparently the GH5 will have IBIS. And the Panasonic GH5 tester is also claiming 1 stop improvement, matching what Olympus has said. http://www.43rumors.com/david-peterson-says-the-new-gh5-will-have-full-size-hdmi-and-ibis/#disqus_thread

    GH5 Prototype

And 1 stop improvement which matches Olympus's claim.
  3. The stabilization shown in that Cinema5D video at the 2 minute mark looks fantastic.
  4. Little things like dual card slots, vari-angle LCD, and larger battery will definitely help. The big ones are the 3x faster sensor readout over the existing E-M1 and both IBIS and Electronic Stabilization with 4K video.
  5. This reminds me of an interview from a few days ago. Jeremy didn't hold back on what he thought of Canon's decisions.
  6. I have not seen any confirmation of support for 4k60p yet.
  7. Most current smartphone sensors are currently capable of supporting 4k60p. The limiting factors has been the processing capabilities to create 4k60p content without overheating. Android phones will only be able to support it once the latest Snapdragon processor can do it without overheating.
  8. Support for 4k60p suggests that it could also support higher quality 1080p120. There many not be enough room for a 2nd sensor on the smaller phone.
  9. I wonder how long the telephoto will be? It needs to be at least 75mm equivalent to be of much use since the sensor for the tele lens is slightly smaller than wide angle sensor. Also the tele end has no OIS so it would be limited to good light use.
  10. Olympus is also coming out this fall with a 12-100mm at a constant F4. Maybe this lens will be directed towards the video community.
  11. Digicame only releases details a few days before announcement and has a very good track record of reliability. They just posted some additional details. I wonder what time limits these have. Video 4K 60fps. Full HD120fps, 4K video can be recorded in internal CFast2.0 media
  12. This week Olympus announced a new 300mm f4 PRO lens for their m43 mount. This is the first Olympus lens with IS built into the lens and when combined with IBIS is rated for 6 stops of stabilization. Mirrorlessons just posted a video take with this lens and the 1.4TC handheld for a total 840mm (35mm equivalent). This could be game changing for wildlife videos where you cannot or don't want to carry a tripod.
  13. Here is a behind the scenes look of how RYOT used the 6S Plus 4k video for a documentary.
  14. Canon clearly mentioned that 4k is not coming any time soon due to "Cost" issues. MM: Well, historically, I think that Canon was the first in the world to come out with a 4K product. In 2011, we had the Canon EOS 1D C, and then we had the Canon Cinema EOS C500 for professional use. For the consumer models, I think that we still need to work a little bit more on the balance between the cost and the sensor sensitivity before we can come out in the market. As you may know, Canon's main point of difficulty is to reduce costs. [Ed. note: This is interesting, in that Canon views cost competitiveness as their main point of challenge in the market. It's also interesting in that it sounds like we won't see much in the way of 4K video in their SLR lineup for a little while yet.]
  15. This will give an idea of the video compression.
  16. OIS is said to work with video now. I wonder if this includes 4k video.
  17. Imaging-Resource had a good review. http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2015/09/02/primes-people-tamron-relaunches-sp-line-two-sharp-affordable-prime-lenses "For those of us preferring (or needing) to focus manually, these new lenses are a joy to use. Tamron put a lot of effort into tuning both new SP lenses for, as they describe it, "high-grade MF operation". Both have a very long focus throw that allows for precise focus adustments, and the focus mechanism has a really great feel, as well."
  18. I guess Panasonic and Atomos timed their release today.
  19. Here is the UK press release. I guess some of the $99 covers the EU tax for allowing unlimited recording. http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/latest/photo-news/panasonic-tweaks-lumix-gh4-to-launch-gh4r-60067 "The photo/video hybrid now offers unlimited 4K recording (Cinema 4K: 4096×2160/24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840×2160/up to 30 fps in MOV/MP4*) and V-Log L video capability."
  20. Here are some updated specs. It looks like it supports OIS and digital stabilization with video, similar to what Panasonic provided with the FZ1000. http://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://digicame-info.com/2015/07/gx8.html&prev=search - Still camera shake correction: Dual IS (body 4-axis / lens 2-axis) - Video of the camera shake correction: HYBRID OIS + (5 axis)
  21. If this is using the new 20mp sony 4/3 sensor then it will have much faster sensor readout and can easily support full sensor readout at 24/25p and possibly 30p with 16:9. http://www.sony.net/Products/SC-HP/IS/sensor2/products/index.html
  22. I wonder what method of AF it would use on an E-M1 body (on-sensor PDAF or CDAF).
  23. I'd be surprised if it has "HIGH SPEED" auto focus.
