  1. Geekbench is a much better benchmark of actual application performance and the initial scores are showing a 20% improvement. https://hothardware.com/news/iphone-12-pro-benchmark-geekbench-5-a14-bionic What this does not show is how the Neural Engine portion of the A14 chip went from 8 cores to 16 cores, improving that aspect of the iPhone 12 performance by 80%. There is much more to a smartphone's performance than just CPU and GPU benchmarks.

    Panasonic GH6

This gives us an idea of what to look forward to with the GH6. The BGH1 is a lot actually smaller and lighter than the GH5. https://photorumors.com/2020/09/30/panasonic-dc-bgh1-mft-camera-specifications-leaked-10mp-c4k60p/ DC-BGH1 10.28 MP sensor Micro Four Thirds mount C4K60P 4:2:2 10-bit RAW video (HDMI output), C4K60P 4:2:0 10-bit (H.265 / HEVC) internal recording Dual native ISO Double SD card slot Wi-Fi / Bluetooth 11800mAh VBR battery compatible Dimensions: 93 x 93 x 78mm Weight: 545g

    Panasonic GH6

At 8:50 of this video posted today the GH5 successor is specifically mentioned to be in development.
  4. There are 3 pages to the interview and on page 2 it mentions that the surveillance cameras would be a mid to long term new market in addition to the existing business.
  5. It doesn't look like the X-H2 is coming soon. https://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2020/09/04/fujifilm-interview-covid-gfx-strategy-shrinking-ibis-300K-cycle-shutter
  6. So it looks like we will see an R6 firmware update as well. This was posted by Gordon today.
  7. Here is a summary of Gordon's findings. https://www.canonrumors.com/gordon-laing-explains-the-updates-in-firmware-v1-1-0-for-the-canon-eos-r5/
  8. Better to keep our expectations very low. "Update: A source that is testing the new firmware has warned me not to expect too much of a difference in thermal performance with the new firmware. I guess we’ll know for sure quite soon."
  9. Apparently a firmware update is coming tomorrow. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64300120
  10. He definitely needs to toe the line when it comes to stating possible reason why. I am surprised that many in that thread still didn't believe there was proof of a software timer. At least Roger was very clear on that. The only questions are why and whether Canon will do something about it.
  11. Roger Cicala put on his tinfoil hat and posted his thoughts on the R5 overheating. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64283221
  12. The latest from b&h. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64274876 In our August 4th update, we shared that Canon R5 preorders were very strong and Canon’s deliveries to US retailers have been extremely limited. We also promised to send regular updates. Since that note, we have not received any R5 deliveries from Canon. We expect to receive/ship our next delivery during the first week of September.
  13. The problem was that sensors were advancing at at much greater pace when the GXR was available and that meant you needed to replace the whole sensor/lens module for improved IQ. This might have worked better over the past 5 years due to lack of sensor development, although now it is too late to start something like this.
  14. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64225686 The response to the R5 has been very strong. Canon’s deliveries to US retailers have been extremely limited. We shipped out the first delivery in full last week and we expect to receive/ship our next delivery in 3-4 weeks....
  15. I do hope that Nikon can survive but the latest Q1 results look incredibly bad. Revenue was down 63% while Canon dropped 30% during the same period. Nikon's market share must be well below 20% now and Nikon is now forecasting a 5B restructuring expense for later this year to slash costs. based on this new norm. This is going to hit R&D and the future product pipeline beyond this year. https://nikonrumors.com/2020/08/06/nikon-q1-financial-results-are-out-2.aspx/
  16. Apparently, this is not Canon's first time for overheating during video. Based on the below response Canon's PR has actually improved with the R5. 😂 https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Announcements/PowerShot-G7-X-Mark-III-Notice-Regarding-Erroneous-Warning/m-p/279102#M409 "Canon has identified a phenomenon with the PowerShot G7X Mark III where the camera may display an erroneous temperature warning soon after the start of movie recording. This phenomenon can be resolved by performing the following steps: 1) Power on the camera and Re-enter (or set) the Date, Time & Time Zone. 2) Turn off the camera and leave powered off for at least 90 minutes. 3) After at least 90 minutes, power the camera on again. After following this procedure, the erroneous warning should not recur."
  17. Adorama, b&h and other dealers in the US are being told by Canon that next shipment will come during last week of August. Let's see what happens.
  18. If this is correct then a major recall would be required to fix this. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/23457/canon-eos-r5-overheating-video-failure/p4 "New rumors from dealer I got Canon R5 and R6 issues are in part related to severe bug with LSI not being able to lower frequency and enter sleep state where it is required. Chip is also unable to turn of parts that are not required now. Problem can be with actual chip design with significant defect that require few millions USD to fix and make new masks."
  19. This photographer normally uses a 5D and 1D for his motocross events and was able to use an R5 under similar conditions yesterday. So it is possible to overheat the R5 taking only photos. https://www.canonrumors.com/forum/threads/gerald-undone-completes-exhaustive-record-time-testing-on-the-canon-eos-r5-and-canon-eos-r6.38979/page-4#post-851397 "I got to use an r5 today out at a Motocross event and well it turned off from only doing photos. This was using the ef to rf adapter and a 200mm f2. This was used for over a time period of 2.5-3 hrs and it was 86 degrees out. I’m glad that I didn’t buy it and needless to say my friend who did is pretty disappointed. I love 1d bodies" "Yup. Only stills. I think we use two or three batteries.Full disclosure I leaned on the shutter a lot I fired off a few thousand rounds and which by the way I must say that tracking is pretty incredible. Auto shut off was at 1 min. Yes I know it was warm out but doing photos then looking at them and doing photos and looking at them you wouldn’t think that a camera would get so warm that it would shut off from stills." "I had just got done shooting a burst and looked at the photos that were captured and the red thermometer was flashing and I proceeded to shoot more then the camera stopped. It took somewhere between 10-15 min to start working again. After this tho I quit using it"
  20. Some more details from the manual. It looks like IQ of images are reduced first before it gets to the point of total shutdown. I suspect reviewers are not realizing this.
  21. Bill Claff just mentioned that the R5 is applying NR up to ISO 640 that is improving DR by 2/3 stop. So a bit of trickery by Canon in order to match Sony's DR. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64212513
  22. It thought I would never see this day. Hopefully all future Canon bodies will have sensors based on the same tech.
  23. I see that Adorama and BH Photo are including for free the 25mm f1.8 lens when you purchase the E-M10 Mark III. The E-M10iii deals have officially started now.
