  1. The Alexa is going head to head against the Raven, the BMC, etc.   Been in the works and kept secret for quite some time.  Management felt it is time to offer the Alexa to the masses.  Dry run of 500 cameras to see how the market responds.  Price $5500!

2.5K basic model with aluminum shell.

No Raw.  Alexa proprietary 5 to 1 compression.

    Alexa Colors.

  2. Gees, almost forgot to reply after seeing  Rogue Nation last week.   I thought the movie was good.  Same recipe.  Enjoyed the Opera scene and the motorcycle chase scene.  Perhaps Cruise likes to be shot on film due to the film grain hiding any facial blemishes and aging?  Just kidding.  Being shot on film does instill a certain feel to the whole movie.  Cruise did earn his money hanging on the side of a plane.  Would I hang on the side of a plane for his paycheck?  Definitely... if the plane was on the ground.  I'd do the CGI green screen rather than be strapped in and hanging on for my dear life.  My luck a seagull would either excrete on me or ram into me.  If a bird did ram into Cruise, his goose would have been cooked.  KFC tonight?  Cheers.

  3. I'm a geek inside and out.  I want to see this movie and analyze the footage (with my defective eyes) with respect to the Arri Alexa 65.  Probably take in this move within the week.  If anyone goes to the movie, please respond on your thoughts on the image, ............and the movie.  Cheers.

    According to Imdb:

Arri Alexa 65, Hasselblad Prime 65 Lenses
Arri Alexa XT (visual effects plates)
Arri Alexa XT M (aerial shots)

    Arriflex 435, Panavision Primo, B-, C-, E-, G-Series, ATZ and AWZ2 Lenses

  4. I purchased the 1DC when it first came out.   Been sitting on the fence, and reading various opinions about it.  Entertaining to say the least.  I maintained from the beginning that the image ranks high with the more expensive cinema cameras.  The 1DC can match film if properly shot and graded in my opinion.  Is it a perfect camera?  ...No, but does a truly perfect camera exist?  One can debate the merits and the pitfalls but to what end?   The camera isn't for everyone.  It does take a while to understand the 1DC.  I do agree with Sir Andrew Reid current opinion as to the strengths/views about the 1DC.  Just my 2 cents.  Cheers.

  5. Hey Sheild3,

I own the 1DC - paid the premium a few years ago - however, it has been worth it due to the gained experience (at least that is what I'm telling myself).  The files are big 4GB for 1 minute.  The camera is a lot better than most realize.

    Congrats on your purchase.

    Cheers

  6. Thanks, will check the making of asap, should be interesting.

Saw the film yesterday. Id give it a solid 8, but i did go in with sky high expectations after witnessing all these ten out of ten reviews. The film is certainly much better than Age of Ultron or Furious 7 and probably will be the best action blockbuster of 2015. Feel it's slightly overrated but not as much as the first Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. Id rate it equal to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

I was floored at the beginning of the movie and especially at the first carchase setpiece but the latter half of the movie failed to sustain or outdo the assault on the senses i got in the first hour. The second half was really good but it definitely peaked early for me. The last setpiece was more of the same and the sense of danger was somewhat lost sadly. The baddies could have easily won in the end if they had put some thought to their actions. But i guess logic doesn't apply anyway to film such as this.
One nitpick - the high shutter speed in action scenes was way overdone and made the movements too jerky and less realistic.

Overall the design and the world itself was simply amazing and quite mad indeed, if a bit comic book alike compared to earlier films. Tom Hardy was good but he doesn't quite have that fierce look in the eyes like Mel Gibson. Gibson could have still pulled it off imo. Theron was awesome if underdeveloped as a character, but we all now the drama isn't the main attraction in a film like this, so it's all good.
Soundtack was nothing special, fitted nicely on action but not as much during the quiter scenes, overly pathetic.

Big respect for Miller to pulling it off, Fury Road is a stunning action movie with incredible visuals and style but not quite a flawless masterpiece. Look forward to seeing it again.

Id like to add that i secretly hoped for a cameo of Bruce Spence. I don't know if it's just me, but the film seemed to aim for PG13 like Prometheus.

    Good summary.

  7. What camera was used to shoot this? Watching on an iPhone 5S (Retina- generally excellent color), the face skintones look too green. Don't tell me he's an alien and the color is accurate. Everyone knows the green aliens top out around 4'.

Good one.  Or maybe the skin tones need more blue with a touch of red.  Cheers.
