1. Also, JVC coming out with their $5000 4K video camera.  Later this year, they were to introduce their interchangeable 4k video camera.  Sony is beating them to the punch.  Sony is giving the competition a knockout punch.  Canon better wake up very quickly.  JVC better move quicker with their interchangeable 4k.  Panasonic better move quickly.  Canon's big Hollywood Debut looks like it will be short lived.  Was it arrogance due to the 5d2 success?  SONY! Sony! Sony!  Right on.
2. News is spreading: This is another guys post about talking about the merits of 4K.  Sony will have a huge winner here. The point is 1080p and REAL 1080p FS100: http://produktdbimages3.slashcam.de/..._klein_204.jpg Canon C300: http://produktdbimages0.slashcam.de/..._klein_260.jpg Both 1080p, C300 with 4 K Sensor.See the difference ? ^^
3. Canon had their chance with the 5D3 (unless they have a firmware unlock to a host of goodies).  Instead they thought they could offer a few upgrades (which were wanted a couple years back!).  Money is tight.  People want value.  If a company doesn't take the bull by the horns and lead then they become the follower.  Once people decide on a camera with a competitor it is lost business and to gain the customer back may never happen.  Simple business.  In this day and age with the internet, news moves quickly.  You got to stay ahead.  Why accept mediocrity? People tried the MD3 then tried to justify in their minds how to achieve a better picture...sharpen, etc. Why should the consumer be trying to achieve in their minds the satisfaction through their ingeniuity.  Something wrong with that PICTURE.  I bit my tongue but I can't any longer.  I'm hoping Canon steps up to the plate and puts their best hitter to bat.  Sony is leading the charge!
4. Now we're talking!  Awesome for Sony.  I read that Canon was going to reduce their C300 in the near future.  It makes sense why now (could still be bs)!  We'll see what transpires now with Sony.  Whoever takes the market lead and gives a worthy product (this is 2012 and people aren't stupid and the world economies are struggling - money is tight and news spreads quickly).  Companies need to offer consumers value.  I'm in the market for a worthy camera.  This may be it.
5. For 4K, take each card individually and insert into the card reader one at a time.  JVC's included software will put the footage together.  This is what I was told.  Will this 4 card be problematic?  Maybe.  We'll see.  Camera does 1080p too?  Not sure if this 1080p is down sampled from the 4k footage in camera.  If that is the case then easier to use.  Lot's of questions.  Color correcting was a big wow with the JVC compressed footage.  It seemed way too good to work with.  We'll see when the camera does comes out and I can get some uncompressed footage straight from the camera.  JVC makes one realize that Canon is holding back on "detail" and better quality footage in their 5D3.

Kineraw

Update for Kineraw.  I got in touch with them. They are currently testing their S35 Camera.  They are hoping for a May release in Mainland China.  2nd half of 2012 release for world is the hope.  Price is anticipated to be $6K to $8K.
7. With the 5D2, modest sharpening.  Color correct then add.  Can give an added punch.

9. The 5D3 with lens is almost $5K in price.  Longs look good with the JVC.  Also if an adapter exists and makes the image softer, that wouldn't be a bad thing.  The footage is incredibly sharp.  Played around with more footage with skintones etc.  Holds well.  The JVC isn't the end all as there are areas of concerns.  Hopefully Sony comes on the scene.  Canon could control the market if they would give a little more.
10. Sara,  are you saying the first consumer 4K video camera will be a dud?  I uploaded some footage that I played with the colors.  Very easy to grade (was using downloaded compressed footage).    Interesting beast of a camera.  I think it will get a fair bit of attention.  It has caught my eye.  29.97 footage. JVC4K
11. With the JVC, I'm not interested in the actual 4k video footage.  I'm interested in the footage as it is put to 1080p.  1080p from the JVC looks to be excellent.  The detail is far superior than the 5D3.  It'll be interesting how the overall aesthetics will be as more footage is posted.  As everyone is aware, how the footage is shot is very important.  I've played with Red footage, Scarlet footage, C300, M2D/3D etc., and correcting the JVC compressed footage was pleasant.  I've played with 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, chipped cameras and have some understanding of the different beasts. I'm no expert but the JVC ranks.  The sensor size of the JVC will be a question.  The attached lens will be a question.  The low light capability will be a question.  And so on.  But the footage I've played with has me excited.  What the 4K JVC camera is telling the market is that Canon is holding back.
12. It is a small sensor.  1/2 chip.  I have an old Dv5000 1/2 chipper.  Very good video camera. Here's my opinion: Visually the footage looks excellent.  Footage reminds me of Scarlet and Red MX and the C300.    Supposedly can be downed to 1080p from camera?  I think JVC could have a winner here especially if the price is $5k US.  That's my opinion.    I'm downloading some more and going to test.  Lot's of questions remain.  PS:  JVC interchangeable 4k camera to have larger sensor.
13. Actually, RED might have to watch out! People seem to be dismissing JVC.  I'm not.  My view is JVC will have a superior product at a very good price point.  Downloaded some 1080p "compressed" footage.  Amazing.  Played around with it.  Can push it without breakdown. Very nice...I do have a Canon Mark 5D2 and I am amazed at the JVC detail.  Scarlet Detailed.  Canon better wake up very quickly in the "video" department.
14. JVC 4k camera - first the attached lens model (about $5K) then the second model (talk of $10K) which you can put your own lenses on.  Competition around the corner.  Read a rumour about Canon knocking down their C300 price to match the Sony F3 price sometime in the near future too.  I tried the 5D3 and felt cheated.  JVC is giving 4K for $5000 including the lens.  Why couldn't Canon do the same, give better resolution for $5000?  GREED and hoping for people to be stupid???  Clearly taking advantage of people due to their success with the 5D2?

17. Footage from JVC.  Video Camera with lens. Price about $5K.  Looks awesome.  Canon may have screwed themselves... JVC GY-HMQ10 4K2K Camcorder 1st official video
18. Not sure if this was posted here before: http://carousel.hu/c300/ A good read.
19. In defense of Andrew, he's giving his opinon.  He is allowed to change it if warranted.  With respect to the Canon Mark 5D3, I gave it a test run.  It is a nice camera, however, items mentioned by Andrew were apparent. I used quality lenses and tried shooting indoors and outdoors.  In post, pushed the limits for color correcting.  Low light very good.  Video does look soft.  I'm not looking for severe "sharpness" but the overall image detail to be better.  I'm not sure if that makes sense.  Video can have a "mushy" feel to it.  Canon could have upgraded the 5D3 alot more. Canon could easily keep it's leadership in this DSLR market before the new competition arrives...JVC, Kineraw, Sony, Panasonic, etc.  On a business perspective, keep your audience.  Get them to spend money on your product.  Entice them with the deal of the decade before the money is spent on the competition.  Once a person buys a camera, they won't be jumping around and buying for anytime soon.  A DSLR leads to more revenue due to  batteries, lenses, etc., being bought.  Sure Canon is bringing out a 4K dslr, but will the dinner be already cold?
20. Canon 5D Mark III ISO/Picture Profile Test The fellow has a download link for the footage. https://public.me.com/cineman1984
21. Here's another review: Canon 5D Mark III ISO Test - Press Pause
22. Thanks for the review.  :)
23. If Kineraw could get their product out now rather than later, and if the product is as robust as it appears, then they could make an impact.  Alot of questions remain but this camera adds more excitement to the mix.
24. I can't remember if this camera was mentioned yet.
