Sony A6000 gets zebra, 16:9 screen and clean HDMI output
Max replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
No doubt it looks like a tech breakthrough however the both lens selection are yet limited. Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS is a good progress in auto-focus lenses with OSS but it took years from the introduction of the 50mm OSS. Some compromised has been made for both lens QC (good sample), and IQ. its already a few years now to be waiting for a complete system. (near PRO grade lenses for a camera with 10fps with the world fastest AF) -

D5300 and 7100 are the same soft and now well implemented video. Somehow the entry level such as the D3200/D3300 has the best video resolution and implementation. D3300 has 40mbps The nikon site say it take ultra sharp movies "The D3300 doesn't only take great photos, it takes dazzling 1080p Full HD video with sound, too! Record smooth, ultra-sharp HD movies" Google it here is an original file http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/nikon_d3300_review/sample_images/ but in youtube you can see better samples although it heavily compressed -

Speaking of Nikon, the D3300 has the sharpest resolution over the D5300. -

Canon 1D C vs 5D Mark III Raw (and C300 / GH2 resolution comparison)
Max replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
"The 1D C is of course top dog for resolution" Why? The 5d shoot still raw. Still has a resolution of a photo which is greater then compress video -
Panasonic GH3 real-world test (pre-production firmware)
Max replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I really liked the in-dept overview and i share EOSHD thought about GH line needed to be FF i will always chose large sensor over 4/3 no matter how good is video implementation. Nikon is getting better and better with each camera iteration. My LX7 is good for video but very bad camera for still -

EOSHD: I feel the actual detail in 1080p on the 1D X and 5D Mark III is closer to 720p in reality – so can this be improved to be competitive with the $700 Panasonic GH2? This is why I like EOSHD. This video clip was boring, nothing as Exciting as "joy ride" or V-Laforet impact. Both has true cinematic feel. These guys can do Miracle with any camera!. Camera as a tool does matter, but not much as the Director/DP and the characters. Even mastering camera angles and moment do not compensate for that. The main issue with the GH3 is the small sensor so even with lower video resolution a FF camera will get better cinematic feel. For travallers, GH3 low weight and IQ will be fantastic.
Max... How is 72mbit too low for ALL-I? Trust me on that, it isn't low. I did love the OM-D in-body stabilisation. IS is important for some people but I prefer to shoot handheld with a shoulder mounted rig, the results are better than with IS.
Its 9 Mbyte/sec. So for 60P each frame will be 150Kbyte only. its about 10% quality jpeg compression. Take a photo to photoshop resize it to 2M pixel and save it with 10% quality then you will get 150Kbyte image. GH3 have 50mbps inter-compression which will have a blue-ray quality. its very good news. However for real motion-still experiences at 60p then 72mbit its a joke so it will be hacked for sure. If the 50mbps mode will be implemented properly then no need for ALL-I. No point to store the same information for 60 frame again and again. shoulder mounted rig? Yes you are a pro but many potential buyers are not.

I can see two issues 1. All I bitrate is low. Does it will be hacked again? 2. No IBIS which is very important to video. No IS in prime lenses.

Canon EOS-M mirrorless unveiled - Return of the EF-M system

"Therefore EOSHD looks beyond the hype and asks – what is the point?" The point is good IQ and portability. The sensor is much larger the RX100 and can be seen by many customers as better deal. For guys like my father, its one of the options along with the NEX line. For me I own the Nikon D3200 until D600 will be released. Bigger sensor = better IQ. I am still impress from my nikon D700 images and I sold it only because of whight and lack of video. Comparing the tonal/colour of my D700 VS D3200 the D700 eat the D3200 for breakfast in any regards. According to DXO at ISO 100 the D3200 is better camera, its far from the true. Canon? No good from them they keep the video to one that are ready to put 15K$. They provide good IQ if you ready to buy FF camera. Their APS-C is history. Are canon future will be as Nokia? RX100 same as nikon 1 can not replace a DSLR for video. not the lenses, not the DOF not the video resolution as in the D3200. Nikon will give soon a very good video in the D600. They mention the word video every secound line in their website so the moving to that direction for consumers while canon will provide it to Pros. Thanks for the great insights :) -
Sony to produce first full frame DSLR with 1080/60p and EVF
Max replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The night shoot was not edited, i dial the contrast all the way down to enhance DR. so it looks pale the girls video was difficult since it was manual focus at 85mm/1.4 I will by the next version since no live histogram at live-view. But DR and resolution are Insane. Resolution is better when using Higher F stop. Nikon is already there @ 700$ -

Excellent review short and clear directly to the point. Its seems that after years of classic DSLR video development, the mirrorles cameras show the way out to the big companies. Whay canon and nikon after so many years cant do it right?

A Canon video camera for the rest of us outside Hollywood
Max replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Cant wait forever for a large sensor camera with in body image stabilization, continues autofocus and true 1080p. Canon? their upcoming mirrorles camera will probably not have the combination of in body image stabilization with true 1080p. Olympus? OM-D E-M5 have in body image stabilization but interlace video. Yes, interlace for 50 years old tube TV!! Panasonic? Good video in GH but no in body image stabilization :( Sony? click click click :P I will by the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V until the GH3 or NEX-5N replacement. -
But canon cripple it from all models including 3000-8000$ models in gave it in 15K price? Are video become a bargaining card?
