  1. Oz, it's the focusing module.
  2. Price announced, €550 http://on.fb.me/1uiTplk SLR Magic 2x, FM Lens Focus Module, Rectilux.. the heat is on!
  3. Ahh, come on. I was hoping so much that SLR Magic is finally developing a 1.5x lens but noo. 2x. That will only make sense on 4K cameras. No Iscorama competitor this time. Sad.
  4. Hopefully he doesn't go too crazy with the pricing. At the end of the day he's still a rookie in lens manufacturing, and Iscoramas are flying really low these days: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191327964612 Will see, said he will announce the price next week.
  5. Haha, that's inevitable. But the focusing model should work with different lenses, who knows what other gems we might find. Also we have yet to see the price. If his adapter sells for more than £250 then I'm out.
  6. It would be nice to know if the Atomos Shogun will be compatible with the XDCA-FS7, since it could capture Cinema DNG Raw over SDI onto SSD's.
  7. Hey Andrew, how does the camera feel on the shoulder, is it noticeably front heavy?
  8. The battle of the bedroom lensmakers! Haha, sorry, I respect everyone's effort here. :)
  9. Hm, maybe it wouldn't make too much sense, but why can't you select higher bit rates in 24p than 240Mbps? Could be an overkill but it never hurts to have more headroom, and the camera could easily handle it since there is a 60p/600Mbps mode already.
  10. Leaked specifications over here: http://cinescopophilia.com/sony-pxw-fs7-camera-full-specs-leaked I hope the XAVC-I is 10bits internally.
  11. Apertus finally launched their open source camera crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/axiom-beta-the-first-open-digital-cinema-camera As much as I love to see them progress, I find the over 2 grand price for an experimental camera a bit steep, especially without internal recording. They say that some components, such as the sensor will be reuseable in their final camera.
  12. Yep, I can't wait to know more about it. I reckon within a week he will post some details.
  13. I think he was shooting out of a window actually and that's a reflection.
  14. Well it's a good way to get some buzz around his FB page for sure, but I'm optimistic. If he could manage to put out this tiny lens, who knows what else he's got up in his sleeves.
  15. FM Lens (the manufacturer of these anamorphics) posted a picture on their Facebook page today: http://on.fb.me/1pmaHFU Sounds interesting.
  16. I'm really not looking to split hairs, but you can get an Iscorama (not the 54) between £1500-2000. Although if you need the 2x look, this could be a good option. (Edit) And this being said, I wish you sell enough to keep you in business. I'm sure it's not easy to run a micro-enterprise like this, and anyone who's looking to make new anamorphic lenses should be respected in my opinion
  17. It's not mine (never will be..) I've got nothing to do with it, but I have never seen this lens before: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351160826565 Would love to know more about it. A test footage would be killer as well. The seller is from Poland, I wonder why the hell does he charge VAT.
  18. I think it would make sense to update the a6000 as well if the lower end a5100 does XAVC-S. This sounds a bit silly.
  19. "If there's cpu intensive effects slowing things down, you can view the edit in preview mode, and then if it's still too slow, turn the effects off. So then you can at least make sure the edit is tight." Just a few mouse clicks, and you can turn them off in the effects panel with Premiere too.
  20. I would love to live in a future where every DSLR records to 10bit 4:2:2 codecs internally. In 2-3 years, this could be real.
  21. He has no name.. He has no past..... But he has a .44 Colt Walker!
  22. This guy is indeed impressive. Give him 5 minutes, boom. He knows how to fill it. His videos feel much longer, in a good way. The other thing is that you can see his vimeo channel from the start, how he polished his style. For example the "Real Fighter" wasn't as good as his later stuff, but you can clearly see that he was working on his ideas until they became "perfect". Also I was thinking about the creative use of broken glasses and other things in front of the lens since I saw this video: But now he makes me revisit the idea. Besides of the mood it gives, you can certainly improve on highlights as well. Watch the shots against windows in his videos. The foggy flare looks really great, no sign of bad DR or shitty roll-off.
  23. Just to quickly answer my own question, this one is really popular: http://www.amazon.com/Radiation-Detector-SOEKS-01M-Language/dp/B0055LL1LQ
  24. Just out of curiosity, is there any affordable device (dosimeter maybe) that let's us to measure radiation at home more or less accurately? Let's say I have a vintage lens collection, can I check the radiation levels myself, rather than taking it to a super lab?
