Baby Hypergonar aka The World's Smallest Anamorphic Lens (?)
tony wilson replied to QuickHitRecord's topic in Cameras
wow... that is worth at least 500 dollars it needs stripping and helicoid needs clean and regrease. if i had that lens and it was working fine unless the elmoscope was super cheap as well the kowa should be a more interesting and flexible lens.- 38 replies

Baby Hypergonar aka The World's Smallest Anamorphic Lens (?)
tony wilson replied to QuickHitRecord's topic in Cameras
pretty rare little lens.. for 8mm late generation later than baby hypergonar and moller 8 late 1960s should be 1.5x thick achromatic optic at the front and back should make this a very sharp lens if it has not been messed with and anamorphic and taking lens are focused properly very tasty and worth more than you probably paid for it : )- 38 replies

not really has not been a proper inflight for a long time. they where made for airplanes so are kind of rare some of the ones that are around many are kind of tired because of industrial use. when they are good they are super sharp.. kowa made an inflight as well still a dual focus system. price range seems to be 600 -1200 dollars

bradleyg5 go tell Jesko von Oeynhausen. he is a fool and this little 3rd rate company leica he works for are clowns yes no. go tell them the fucking theory... we cannot help with the development of the prototype camera, and as you understand more than the germans and have a deeper insight than them i suggest you speak to them. or make your own camera and undercut this little german outfit. maybe do not call it bradley g5 as it sounds like tank and folks do not like being reminded of death and the us military industrial complex. i really think you should call them and argue your position and let us know the responce if your shy send them a point for point email critique and post the reply here. as i have said leica are jolly nice friendly people and being german technical perfectionists. they are open to any valid input on potential flaws in future product lines especially release of the most important camera for them in many years.

why don't you get this.. the camera is not for you ok. it is a stills camera with video for an existing target market. not someone that seems to be getting angry that leica are not giving you a baby alexa for 600 dollars. plenty of plastic out on the market for you : ) i say it again i trust leica more as image lens and camera makers based on nearly 100 years of history and proven excellence. moan to them i suggest you contact leica and tell them they are ignorant idiots. suggest to them where the non existant camera project has gone wrong. these are not sony or canon. i bet you it would be super easy to speak to Jesko von Oeynhausen lecture him pretend you are an interested rich kid. who knows they may let you join the beta test prototype camera team.

Andrew, you can't be serious, you are a Canon Basher, and you don't bash Leica? (...) No 1080/60p50p? Moire? Hello, nearly 7k in price(!!) MJPEG(!!) you have know idea what the image will be like. leica has a reputation defined by the purity and perfection of optics and cameras. maybe the greatest reputation of all companies. they go slow.they do not join cost races to dilute top line product ranges. they wait for the best sensor, they wait for the technology to exist in a refined form before they integrate into top range products. let us not beat them up for a camera that does not yet exist apart from tester cameras. rumour is the test model is already pretty handy. these products are for super serious pros with money or the very well off that want the best. plenty of cheap plastic cameras around for the price of a leica lens hood. i have a leica digilux 2 from 8 years ago leica replaced the sensor last year for free. leica are not going to release the most important camera for them in years that is flawed imager. that camera clearly is of interest to existing customers it is not trying to attract gh2 users. this camera is only a good thing and in the future i believe they will make other products with video. i would suggest people email leica direct with ideas for future directions. this company is small enough to listen to valid ideas. lets wait and see..for most it is not relevent because of price point but for some it is great news.

angenieux close up lens anamorphic missing link

i will be getting a few of the close up's mounted on thursday. i will have 3 ready...i have put a nice old fashioned simple single layer Magnesium fluoride coating on them. these are angenieux early 1970s close up diopters power is +0.3 optic size is 80mm in a 82mm screw thread these will be perfect for anamorphics with a min focus 4-8 feet. they are single element but the best i have found in single element cannot see any defects lovely quality. chemical soaked and coated. lovely condition with a full guarantee. when i get time and more mounts i will sell some on ebay for £250 sterling. so this is for 1 revamped angenieux close up diopter. perfect for use with anamorphic lens. -
the great thing about leica is every customer counts. it has to be that way with the price structure. everything is in place for a superb compact motion picture camera. pressure and ideas just need to be past on to Jesko Von Oeynhausen. he seems like a slick clever guy well able to fight his corner. we are seeing a rush to the bottom some people seem to expect imax quality cameras for 500 dollars. leica have to be where they are price wise. zeiss are already diluting a fine reputation by outsourcing to china. i believe leica could make a pure movie camera with a more realistic dedicated sensor for 4500 euros. they are bringing out a cheaper rangefinder camera next year as well 3000-4000 euros. with this new camera they still have to work to the finicky old rangefinder user base. so approach is overly conservative. a dedicated cine/stills body rather than stills with cine would be the best method.

now then now then now guy's and girls..... the greatest camera house gets the video bug. shame about them dumping the ccd sensor. this company is masterful, expensive and bespoke but the stuff they make is superb. very interesting project. good interview andrew... i think you need to keep in touch with jesko as this is the kind of company that does listen to serious folks. the beauty of leica is the super tight integration small enough to adapt quickly but also rarely rushing things. outsourcing expertise.always seeking the finest quality possible. to be honest they are bespoke enough to do a camera biased to video as opposed to stills with video integration. leica cinema camera ,same size same processor smaller mega pixel count sensor shame about the coming wars and economic collapse. but i will take this leica into any war zone with pleasure.

nice glass focus is by adjusting the plastic nob at the front... for a focus pull it would require 30 turns plus getting your hand in the shot not a good choice unless it is less than a 100 euros sankor 16d 16c 16f look for lens with those numbers in some go cheap in proper auction min focus is 5 feet which is good.

i had sexual relations with a reel fat ugly girly once upon a timesome. she was cheap to.. fish and chip dinner wid curry sauce and pickled onions and some lager beers. she was fat un ugly and smelt of curry sauce and pickled onions. i remmembers thinkin when eye was tryin toget on top i thought this is HUGE and heavy. I don't know if it will be of any use (I'm afraid not) and I couldn't even find a way to mount it. But it was cheap felt reel bad der next day... smelt of curry and pickled onions -
leica made one of the greatest super 8 film cameras in the 1970s the leicina special with an m mount and 10mm and a zoom lens it was tiny and superb piece of engineering i have 3 and they still work never been serviced. using an existing body dumping the latest stills sensor and sticking a lower resolution sensor using a kodak or dalsa ccd would not be an epic project for them. clearly they already have live view prototypes for future cameras andrew needs to go fined them at the show and explain to them fuji is bound to do something interesting so trump the future competition

angenieux close up lens anamorphic missing link
tony wilson replied to tony wilson's topic in Cameras
i have not been shooting with it just doing live view tests in bad light.. i had to send the optics away for polishing so i knocked off a couple of takes with it on the way to the post office. i should have it back next week for more testing. the footage is really jerky on vimeo not sure why but it was shot with a 4 year old unhacked gh1. it is quite nice seeing 1.33 footage with a slightly longer focal length. the optex, century and panasonic all have much tighter spaced wider angle optics and most people seem to use those with wide angle taking lens which i think the look is a bit dull. -

my other project without the heat or bullcrap of slr magics lens is my prototype small likle anamorphic. very quick bursts the lens is back in pieces as it is still got someway to go. optics still a little soft but i have now surpassed optex and century in quality and flexibility. not as wide as those bits of glass but maybe a better look. the anamorphic optics are uncoated and the cooke optics have no coat. the footage is a bit wonky as i held the anamorphic in front of a lovely old cooke lens from charlie chaplin times and so old had no filter thread -
paris loo vre footages i wish der kids would stop pissing around wid chinese soft fast lens not a good choice of lens or a good corporate choice for a new camra innit

angenieux close up lens anamorphic missing link
tony wilson replied to tony wilson's topic in Cameras
the angenieux will be better quality than the single element tokina. but not quite as good as the double element. not sure why but the angenieux just seems to be doing this close up stuff much easier it could just because of low power. i would say it will be better for a focus anamorphic rather than a fixed optic one. the baby hypergonar improvement thing is gonna be cool...it will take 2 months to finish. -
you do have 2 be very careful if you ever see a cheap iscorama DO NOT BUY IT. the cia, mi6 and the las seetas humanos giaganticos drugs cartel are using iscoramas in deals. anyone attempting to purchase should stay clear ESPECIALLY IF IT IS CHEAP. stan is ex special forces so understands how the game works so best to leave any bargains well alone as stan has the special training in this area ; ) nobody can get ripped off with defective iscoramas as much as stan he is the king of bad deals.
