Feeler: Isco pre-36 (Original 50mm f2.8 single coat) ?for sale?
tony wilson replied to strancali's topic in Cameras
met a guy today in soho. worked in commercials just came back from dubai. a travelogue type job budget was 300 thousand pounds. hawk anamorphics. he said he would like to direct and shoot some of his stuff cut the crew down from 30 or 40 so he can take lower budget interesting jobs. 200-250 thousand range. the rental on his job for hawks was 1800 ish they had to go back exactly on time cos they where going on a movie. he gets paid 4000-8000 pounds per shooting day plus a weekly wage from the production company. if he comes in under budget he and the producer get a bonus. he is looking for an anamorphic a high resolution one. no dis but maybe a couple of the buyers think nothing of the difference between 2000- and 6000 if they put it on the production budget for a commercial. if your lens rental is near enough 2k for 1 or 2 jobs the sums we are talking about are small change and in some cases the client is paying with the sale buried deep within the budget as some additional fee. regardless of whatever is said the iscorama is head and shoulders above everything else from f1.2 on down. and for folks who can add it into work costs the sums are modest. i believe in most cases under valued for a good one. i am not good at mathmaticks cannot even spell it. iscorama 54 was 1200 sterling in the 1990 the camera it was used on the best nizo or canon super 8 was 200-350. how many of you are shooting with lens that cost 3 or 4 x the value of your camera. i believe slr magic called the iscorama spectacular for a reason they should know they would of stripped it down. people have been talking of bubbles and collapse of iscorama price for 3 years. fact a moller 1.5x looks 10x better than any new sub 10k anamorphic the last one i saw went for 400 major bargain. analogue lovely ness in a satanic digital world. most of the thousands being made today is from scammers selling fake lens that they do not have. vintage optics well serviced will always be more interesting than any new stuff optical clowns today are mainly copying 80-100 year old lens recipes and sticking horrid coatings on them. -
looking for a century, optex or generic crap anamorphic.
tony wilson replied to tony wilson's topic in Cameras
difficult question you see the slr magic story is still not resolved? so if the new lens is a 3 element system then the century optex is worth less than a new slr magic. if it is a 2 element with some astigmatic close up movement but simalar optic design then the century is worth less because it is old. century seems to have more interesting flare so far. so all in all i would say less than an slr magic by about 200 quid. -

the guy that sold me it said it was as good as an iscorama if not china better said it was an all new design not like the regular old one a special one he said : ) it ended up hitting a brick wall at high speed lucky for me the wall was not damaged and focus did seem to be improved. also punching yourself in your camera filming eye before the shot also helps. just kidding your lens is still alive i am rebuilding her better stronger and faster. -
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice cheap price : )
-
yes price. it is important for most. but is it connected to value? like the sacred iscorama the price maybe an outrage and an insult to many. crazy talk from a looney tune. for the prophet or optical connoisseur the price is not the question. just a means to a pure unsullied sanctified end. purity and quality over the double gauss field. tesla like simplicity and complexity duality. the ancient secrets glimpse revealed from sumer of old to south london today. a monetary price for the priceless how crude : )
-
anyone got one for sale or trade please ping me a message. many thanks.

nothing but.. the scam mainly works and exists and perpetuated by people that do not have the lens. they rely 100% on other peoples fotos. they are usually ignorant of foto and lens talk type questions will say i am not at home for a few days so cannot get to the lens. nothing wrong with bank transfers nothing wrong with money transfers ebay and paypal are just as corrupt as any scumbag thief. they take 100s of millions of dollars from honest listings and fake ones they still charge the saint and the crook. check sellers past sales any foto stuff any history in that area what are the other sales. video confererance call skype whatever video on mobile or dealing with known people i suppose helps. the scam survives based on other peoples fotos. it relies on quick ebay listing giving out email address or hacking of dorment account for the listing. speed and natural greed of humans 2 iscoramas for the price of one for fuck sake come on folks. proofs of iscorama life fotos shot with it proof other than ad type stuff is all that is needed holding it up in front of a ipad already. or do what i do do trading.. i have an iscorama 42 ex nasa if anyone has a castle in estonia or hungary or the czech republic i will even throw in a tokina achromat and a lens cleaning cloth only used a couple of times the cloth that is top quality materials the cloth that is.

i have now heard of 3 frauds involving quick iscorama ebay listings then off email communications involving bank transfers. the latest was a deal for buy one get one free the 2nd lens being very grey and dusty but still nobody gives even a broken iscorama away. these scammers have made maybe 10 thousand dollars in less than a month maybe more. the original ads on ebay vanish i assume because at some stage ebay pulls and deletes the listings but it seems the scammers only need a few hours. seems silly to say but ebay do not generate invoices with foreign bank details on. ebay owns paypal that is all they care about. you should not send any monies until you are sure the seller has something real and you have some proof that the guy is legit again seems silly to say but this seems to be happening more and more.

For sale, ISCORAMA 2004 nikon mount
tony wilson replied to Miguel De Olaso Macgregor's topic in Cameras
mr macgregor your work is superb :) the work with the old timer sony sublime your lens fantastic. but the much quoted isco wiki info guy as they say in england was a wanker that just cut pumped and pasted stuff on the iscorama. your lens probably is the highest quality iscorama around as long as it still has the leica lens inside. the last 2 of these i had suffered from poor back optics and skewed cylindricals but yours should be pretty epic having been serviced. pretty future proof i think resolution wise super tasty optic. -
the best thing by far to do for the baby hypergonar is find a tokina achromatic diopter that is the thing combination of quality and magnification is sweet. maybe ebay europe listed as tokina close up the box packaging is unique for the correct close up model.

the rumour is not a rumour it is fact 50 units sold in the 1980s made up from old optics. the lens where sold with rather nasty plastic 8mm film cameras 25 english pounds for the camera and the lens i think mine cost new from the cine shop.
-
the baby hypergonar should not be tampered with any attempt to tweak will possibly destroy the optics leave it alone is best. the optics are sealed into the housing . a few of these have been destroyed during attemps to take apart. the only way is to cut the body into 2 pieces you then run the risk of horrible vibration damage to the optics. be thankful you have a rare lens or sell it on if you are a seeker of perfection.
-
any repair guy can take apart a lens guys all over the world. anyone can take a lens apart a put it back together it is easy experience not needed it is only a lens plenty more around in the shops if you smash it replace it with the better slr magic single element optics coming soon. do not sweat break it down it's only plastic and metal it is old why worry. the more iscorama you destroy the rarer they become the higher the value for us owners. repairing yourself or local is dumb i think just sayin. if you wanna cut out the torment and terror here is the best and quickest option now. you have to clearly state repair out and in for customs and use a good courier. http://www.super16inc.com/

that was my discription the lens went for 700 hundred ish i think. if it was just a simple rebadge of a kowa it would not have the name isco on it. clearly microsoft do not put apple logo on the crap they make. clearly a 4 way connection existed between 2 lens companies a skoptimax guy in germany and a centavision guy in england. i have 10 kowas only 2 where as sharp as that centavision. they are worth 500-800 quid. i have a skoptimax and it is very lovely again more like the best kowa 8z again better than many kowa bell howell my guess is bell howells had a hard corporate life or maybe bell howell usa screwed kowa a little and so the japanese dropped quality control a little andrews isco is a frankenstein bit of kowa but mainly isco 42 super super rare could even have been the owners private lens or a prototype.

focus john focus why not a proper focus. is it cost? anyone know
-
anyone go and see it ? some reviewers are saying it is a brand new design and unique. eyepatch says it is different. i still say century-optex with a crude back optic focus adjustment . seems odd why not a full range focus helicoid ? anyone here test it. is the new design patent pending? not trouble makin or stirrin just askin : )

income stream kodak needed the 100s of millions of snappy snap kodak gold film folks to buy the crap stuff so the pros could have the good stuff so the movie pros could have the motion picture stuff just like fuji. bad photography holiday fotos propped up the good stuff. same with cameras the plastic junk supports the good stuff. these are mass market corporations when the market goes like kodak all they can do is slash and burn. sell land blow buildings. listen to the americans clap at the destruction and asset stripping of an icon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKGz52xmtx8

time runs. japan sinks. walk around london now everyone is snappy snapping or iphone samsung video ing. nikon will get a panasonic connection at some stage if it does not go under or is asset stripped sooner. the elephant in the room alas and know body talks about is cancer from fukishima. you see the spent fuel pools are on a broken roof enough radiation to kill everyone in japan and dose the rest of us. maybe the world should talk rather than ignore the fukishima equation. ge of america helped japan build nukes on fault lines not clever unless like david attenborough, prince phillip and bill gates that humans are a plague on the earth. camera only digital device will become like a film camera for the hipster pixel peepers only. maybe lovely fuji should make us a radiation heavy metal foot tester with the usual superb build quality.

forget the edges that is a given. but why keep the lip. the all around front shit lip. why not flat front. does that make sense is that to some clear? the all around front lip or lens shade as panasonic called it is shit. so china why keep it. if your gonna mould plastic spend thousands. why mould an exact copy of a turd. why not mould a heart shape. everyone loves a heart even vampyre. everyone loves love even hollywood satanists yes no. so melt some plastic into the shape of a great big heart. make it red. make it light up and glow turn off and on. call it not leonardo but mighty jumbo long dong schlong.

hush now that is falsehood. this is more of the original china new. if you do not believe this is new then you are a racist see :D just like me. i am told i am a blind hater of the asia new . a crusty old fuck livin in the past. whats his beef. just jealousy blind to modern superior marketing quality. so hush now for the future is bright and it is china.. at the moment they are eating old anamorphic japan. but soon they will start to eat themselves. can ya smell it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKk3k1MgDhs
