1.     the seller is a nice bloke and one of the early adopters of the baby moller his lens is a good one i assume it is priced to make it easier to sell. when you have those mollers and you see how nice the image is it is difficult to let them go.   regardless of any new fangled  anamorphic optics coming along in the future a good vintage lens will always be sexier and have more character than a new expensive  bit of china.
2. do not expect a leica level material standardised process from iscorama they are all over the shop. they did not make any money from these optic marvels. did not make enough of them cut corners with the cheapest one the isco 36 and the 50 with the over use of brittle plastics. the 42 and 54 have much more robust focus systems. keeping the smallest iscorama focus system dirt and grit free is important. also many will have sections of the threads where grease has gone dry. a complete clean out of grease is needed also a conversation on what type of grease you want which will be important for you. in the past i have even sent lens in and send can you make the lens focus feel like this. quite a bit of focus feel flexibility when you use difference types of grease. with repair guys always give them a shopping list of what you think is wrong and what you want done to save time and money.
3. all the wankers in the uk will keep you waiting 4-8 months even longer. they are taking money up front and you get locked in a vortex time black hole. bernie o in the states is the best option. you can always call him and get some advice.
4. some people just love the big 1kg projection lens.. some dodgy folks call them iscorama on ebay make a crummy film to back up how great the lens is. buying an optic based on a film clip is a complete joke. very nice for sure but it means nothing. if you like the idea of the big anamorphics why not get the daddy the master the source the hypergonar. it may be old but no hollywood lens can match the flare of this beauty. and look not a stupid 800 dollar buy it now it is an auction.   if you like the idea of the bigger optics these lens have that old magic classic vintage coatings. hypergonar by the master henri chretien http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Vintage-H-Chretien-Hypergonar-Hi-Fi-2-Anamorphic-Lens-Excellent-Condition-/111054515394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19db5d6cc2
5. why would you want to give treasure to some local bozo.. the problem with most of the junk on ebay is people messin with the lens home repair or sending it to some clown who makes a living taking plastic apart. your lens has plenty of plastic in it but i would contact this guy. most repair ass holes we keep you waitin around for 6 months bernie will not. here is my quote from repair thread just another shout for an old irishman ex londoner bernie o at http://www.super16inc.com/ many people are doing diy repair on anamorphics which is great if you trust yourself. some lens i think are getting kind of rare so for the sake of a few hundred dollars get it serviced by a legendary old fella before he gets the shakes and cannot do it no more he has been repairing motion picture gear since the 60s and is a real decent super talented bloke.
6. if it is the red isco it is a fine optic but the coatings are zeiss recipe so we have to assume flare is treated as error a flaw  which is a zeiss position. if it flares at all it is a contaminated compromised flare. not a patch on the mighty heavy beast hypergonar
7. what is the lens send a link what mount?
8. just another shout for an old irishman ex londoner bernie o at http://www.super16inc.com/ many people are doing diy repair on anamorphics which is great if you trust yourself. some lens i think are getting kind of rare so for the sake of a few hundred dollars get it serviced by a legendary old fella before he gets the shakes and cannot do it no more :) he has been repairing motion picture gear since the 60s and is a real decent super talented bloke. the cameras being released in the next year will greatly benefit from a well set up anamorphic . a service alignment adjustment clean and re greased will probably be the biggest improvement possible allowing you to shoot in lower light with a less heavy f stop.
9. this is sweet tiny easy peezy anamorphic. 1962-64 vintage simple design less smearing than iscormorphot potential to be much sharper. like the baby hypergonar using it with a low power achromatic diopter will take this to another level.     http://www.ebay.com/itm/Izukar-scope-x1-5-ANAMORPHIC-LENS-/300891246344?
10. i am working on it at the moment. as i said the first one which was simple budget was bad. it can be done easy but will look shit and be not as refined as the plastic panasonic. the only way is a kit that you do in your home.   take apart an anamorphic try to realign it is a bitch i send my stuff to bernie o in the states now cos i have not got the patience. machining with this level of close tolerance is easy with lots of money difficult with little. i cannot even sell properly machined clamps people want cheap shit.   i will build some kind of alignment in try to make it easier than the normal retention ring pain.   i can do something very nice and i will but probably will make 20. i scrapped the 1st as i said earlier has to be better than existing or no point. i have enough old movie close up diopter stock for 15 of them..even have some large +0.25 achromats but they are 3 times as heavy as the anamorphic. the most important part of it for me is the profound question. would chuck norris use it. would he feel manly and comfortable with this lens in his giant hands. i have spoken to his people and they have told me never to call them again unless i have a job offer, for this one man slaughter house. since i have taken up the the mantra what would chuck do i find decision making so much easier :)
11. back clamp is 62mm filter thread   front filter is 72mm  looks very nice set up i would send it back the color is a little gay.   when buying film gear always ask yourself  what would chuck norris buy  what color would he feel comfortable and manly with :)
12. i think you may have a disconnect here... the original cost of those optics would of been a min of 15-22 thousand dollars each. i would be very surprised if he would treat them like a set of lomo these are way beyond lomo.   for a joke i would offer him 3000 us for the set and see what his reaction will be. if they have not been dropped in the sea they are treasure. they are the older generation so sort after everyone including cooke and vantage hawk angenieux are all designing in flaws because the new lens are so horribly sterile.an early set of hawks are kind of posh lomo using russian design and fantastic solid german engineering. value is in the set matched optics are becoming impossible to find because people sell stuff one by one. selling quick they are worth over 10 thousand us selling slow much more. like everything optical  they need to have some type of glass inside so you might want to check.in general air does not  give you a nice anamorphic image  :)
13. it seems very usable already so any tweaks will be a bonus. with a mild achromatic diopter it will take it to another level. :)
14. are you sure it is on the outside this problem is normally internal optic..microscopic pores in factory activated with temp change and sun then damp conditions then more sun. over time getting worse i have had grass growing inside optics before and had repaired so this is easy. fungal spores are mainly inside sealed optics.nice warm conditions. if it is inside unless your feeling sharp i would leave it. anyone serious will want to get this thing realigned and cleaned to perfection anyway.
15. that is a great little lens.. unless it failed before that fungus should come off. many years ago i used diluted hydrogen peroxide with a cotton bud..then wiped then a little lighter fluid then cleaned up with the excellent calotherm and caloclear lens cleaner. only on glass mind. did someone attempt to clean it? on your ebay listing you should state that it should clean up nicely with a service. i really think that can be cleaned up better once serviced by someone good that thing will be great for the black magic pocket cam. very nice : )
16. not really pessimistic it is fabulous really you see this little super 16mm sensor camera is a great idea. other companies will have to react so regardless of what actually happens the symbolism and theory of this pocket camera is what is important, the ripples it creates.   in a sense the camera does not even have to function for it to have caused a ripple effect within the small camera making world. nikon have a body  v1 and the technology to reply. olympus om d is a powerful base for a rejigged cine cam olympus are desperate for income stream fuji have amazing expertise not to mention the other control freak  big boys. leica as well .   it just seems really odd to me why they did not announce a system after they had contacted all the people from last june july and earlier that put money down. regardless of who's fault it is the big fella at bmc has to take the wrap he is the boss. a statement giving last years depositors a guarantee of first place in the queue for any new cameras would seem the best option who would want the original limited canon  mount today.   just had an email from someone that put a deposit down last june and has heard nothing and put a deposit down on the new pocket camera this week. and seem happy to believe the july thing.   you see luke july is just mind control using the power the force of what if. consuming of the new a desperate anticipation. tavistock mind control  a zombie must have hypnosis.   july all i will say is good luck.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJxJnlj-h4Q
17. i have been working on something for quite  a while..the main issue is cost accuracy of machining for a rehouse. as soon as you introduce focus adjustment in it will add even  more. finding an engineering company that will take back badly made metal work is always a problem. many times ends in tears for the customer. the engineer says nothing wrong with it you say it is shit mass production cuts costs but as i have found nothing worse than finding you have a 1000 of something that does not work. my project has been delayed because i feel until i can make something better than the plastic crap of panasonic then no point. it can be done but the cost is the issue you soon hit the brick wall of the customer making do rather than upgrading.
18. according to my sources  cia man osama died in a hospital in rawalpindi  pakistan on sept 10th 2001. nice handy date A he was visited by 2 men who where allowed through his security and later that day died while on a dialysis machine. up until the visit by fellow cia agents he was in good spirits. funny old world init.   in the case of cameras and july dishing 100 cameras out to friends  and bloggers will not cut it as a proper release.
19.   yup yep probably made in one of china's foxconn suicide slave cities.   impossible for anything to be made in aus at that price point china with maybe some japan parts. it is priced for mass sales. apple had the perfectionism and o.c.d of steve jobs to thrash the foxconn china factory workers into producing high quality goods. like red who outsourced many components to china it ended up delaying the scarlet.   i would love this little super 16 camera but joe public is not getting it in july that is just black magic bull bonkers marketing blather.   the only way it is july is if the boss man has thrown millions at a china factory to guarantee this but why bother when people seem happy waiting 8 months for cameras.
20. as you know i have sold many of the tokina.. how many do you see on ebay not many my guess is people are keeping them. if i was you i would not sell it.. it may not be that important for the bolex moller but unless you want to try selling it for twice the price of what you purchased it for i would keep it. they are not coming back i am testing some old movie ones made by kinoptik but hey are much heavier and bigger than the tokina. 72mm is pretty handy size..the standard material used in close up optics now is glass types similar to window glass. any achromatic design has to use bk7 and sf flint glass the very nature of an achromat means you get superior materials which clearly will also help image clarity.   if the moller is your last anamorphic then you may not need to keep the tokina...the moller 1.5 as you know do not really need diopters. and as you know very fiddly to use.   but most other anamorphics of the past and in the future will need something of the quality of the tokina. even if you have not got an anamorphic if you have spherical 0.95 or a 1.2 try the tokina on the front of wide open optics for portraits very nice look.
21. no what did you say no it cannot bee no nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo     my money nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
22. get a good one used do not buy anything new until the dust has settled. also sticking money down on future cameras is a sucky idea. go back and look at the hype from a year ago for bmc some of those customers still have not had cameras. invest hard earned or stolen money in optics digital cameras come and go.
23. a used gh2 with a hack is the best investment now. i think the images look more analogue less nasty. gh1 and gh2 without hacks gave supreme moving images for size and cost. rough waters ahead it is going to start getting ugly why waste money on new gh3. it may not be the black magic that wins. dalsa had the best 4k movie camera better pictures than red who remembers them. red had it for a while until alexa stole the show. black magic rocks the boat enough for sony, fuji or panasonic to reply. gh3 sensor looks like video if you like the look of last years camera get it.
24.     send it back man that piece a plastic is so last year. you need this years plastic paid for this year for you to receive next year :)   just joshing i would send it back and use a hacked gh2 until all this red type waffle marketing dies down and reality sets in.   your also better off with a m/43 trust me your new camera is in for a price drop especially with that mount.
25. thanks for the information. a simple statement from the company saying all the original camera buyers, the  people that put a deposit down last year should get the first 500 cameras at a discount. all the cameras for the first month should be offered to the original customers that showed faith and patience. simply not mentioning these original failed orders would be a little foolish no matter how high the spec on these new july cameras are.
