  2.     oooh very nicely said VFX.  I knew you had it in you describing real world hypocrisy.  So next time don't get all conservative about a mere word such as ''Nigga'' when you know the context at hand, especially considering the fact that you live in Austin, Texas - the ''Dirty South'' where THE WORD is beyond flexible with today's generation both black and caucasian in everyday use.     Emphasizing the word explicitly written as ''Nigger'' such as in Tarantino's films has its own justifications huh?  Both from a comedic and academic understanding?
  3.   Oh no not you again.  I'll see my reply as a comic relief for general viewers since I strongly believe those that follow this site are not soft.  lol.  Therefore we have a nice double header at the movies!  1.  We've got a nice article, 2.  We've got a VFX artist from Texas theorizing on Turkey from general CNN.  I think the next time I go to Amsterdam I'm gonna roll a nice phat one and think about the every so boring conservative state of Texas.

  5.     But the Jews in Hollywood are big advocates of Tarantino's writing.  I wonder why.  Seems like hypocritical irony within the entertainment industry, and that's the philosophy of Tarantino's fiction and he gets rewarded...   It's the same context.  A mere word is far better than the countless thousands in European stadiums throwing bananas or racial slurs to players.  Never in America.
  6.   Does it do 50i in 1.3x mode?  I would really like to see a sample if you don't mind.  Can you show a sample from the D5200 please.

I plan on investing in the upcoming Sigma 120-300mm f2.8, and do tele shooting for wildlife portfolio work.  30p I can live with as I don't plan on worrying about sync from animals lol...but ideally yes I want 25p.  I already have a 2x APO extender so I could get amazing reach with the J3.  I don't see any distracting moire or aliasing form the sample vid.

If you really had the ''insider'' and confidence that it would effectively work you would have already instantly invested in it yourself before promoting your concept camera.  Physically building the camera and sourcing the parts is one thing, but then you have the biggest challenge and that's to write the software and interface which if you want to compete as ''breakthrough'' would take just as long as complaining about the limited availability of the BMCC, which by then ver. 2 would probably announced...  You said it needs a keyboard as a basic input for operation for who knows what, and as others have mentioned its obviously ideal to at least have dials or buttons of some sort for quick navigation.  anyone can vouch that skimming through dslr style inputs is of no problem, and each to his own speed.   The security style barebone-cam has been around for a while.  what's hard is to write the software and navigation.  I think you have a great idea, but let's be honest, you know its risky which is the reason why you're asking for the funding.  $3K or whatever isn't much for an adventurist.     If you build it they will come.
  10. nerd filmmakers gone wild.   trying to justify ''image quality'' as being the solution to film making is the worst excuse for an individual trying to be a filmmaker.  like given a holy template so to say ''hey look my images are so close to Hollywood style I know what I'm doing'''   it's literally ''invest and try to create a RAW! camera at your own risk.  As I said before it's great that many think that image quality will save the lack of creative filmmaking.  therefore my opinion doesn't matter!   B)
  11. I assumed this as well. You did a good job at balancing the GH3 to the 5200 from that night tower shot as I assumed instantly the GH3 was going to look bad, but it didn't. I have a strong feeling the GH3 is far better in daylight profile. Appreciate the night shooting, but in closer perimeter focus from both cameras from these streets the subjects will both look great, particularly a bit more bokeh esque. Also I do like the motion from the GH3. Something more organic about it. I could care less about exterior night time noise from the latest generation of dslrs or mirrorless etc...They are catching up nicely
  12. That Olympus is horrible at the edges compared to the sharper Nikon glass. From this video I personally prefer the lows from the GH3. To me the Nikon handles low light noise a bit better in the shadows/lows, however, both are great for night shooting given some light. Just wish there was better glass on that GH3 for this review. For a real focus on color or dynamic range you should go back to doing some daytime landscape tests between the two. I'm assuming you were trying to fairly accommodate crop factor fairness, but I would slap the same Nikon glass on the GH3

I've got an HD200 with an extra quick release plate. as others have mentioned it's really hard to calibrate if you're not used to it. make sure you have a c-stand styled bar to go with it to make your calibration faster. you can add an arm harness and vest accessories for long shoots if that's your thing.

  15. the only laptops that can do this are the Alienware M17x and above as they can literally receive an HDMI signal and display in front of you.  I did several photo shoots with this combo, but the colors weren't as good as the Nikon D4's LCD screen even after color calibrations.     However, imo don't invest in anything atm.  In about a year the whole wireless wifi business, for photography, will be set in stone and improved as well as other cams following suit.  cables are too cumbersome

Same old stories.  In this case however, I think Red is a bit sour and scared for their beloved Redcode, and Red won't go anywhere with this claim.  They're just gonna have to sit back and enjoy the ride and by the time it's dismissed Sony will have yet another new codec :P .  For Red to do such a move shows how practical and strong XAVC will hold up in the time to come, and most likely great for general grading.
  17.   If I'm not mistaken Red isn't that big to manufacture semiconductor technology like SSD's, so it would be natural to outsource drives.  If anything, seeing how they are industry leaders in cinema it makes sense for them to price high for proprietory controller chipsets.  Regarding ''long life" just sounds like some flexible marketing as they would replace it within general warranty...   Unfortunately, it makes sense, regardless of agreeing or not, that you have to pay steep just for the proprietary (red mobo) controller and firmware.  I wonder if each controller is firm by number capacity when you order so that replacing the SSD might cause conflicts.

  20. I'm curious about Panasonic's Ultrafine HD technology in their high end upcoming consumer line such as the HC-X920 with 1080 of horizontal lines of rez and 8mp effective resolution. Get a used or new Redrock Micro rig, although I wouldn't want to, or wait for their upcoming pro line. with the 35mm adapter all still under $3000. eager to hear Panasonic's new S35 option if ever

This is what I like about Nikon, they're multicam.  You can use your GH3 (NTSC) footage within the PAL sequence which I'm sure you know.  If the priority is talking heads for PAL distro then you should record in PAL for the ''interviews.''  Exteriors or anything that doesn't require a sync then your NTSC footage will work fine in your PAL sequence, and therefore you're publishing a PAL project.  For interiors be in the look out for flicker from your 60hz GH3.  However I doubt you'll run into that problem.  For a long time I swore by 24p, but 25p is literally the best of both worlds and convenient since its the most foregiving difference from 24p.

This is why I mentioned LockCircle.  They are modded Distagons into Cine lenses and are significantly cheaper with supposedly the same glass.  Not interested in the CP.2's.  Of course Zeiss doesn't cover LockCircle.  I read somewhere that a couple of Distagon's don't breath. I'm only interested in full frame atm.
