I get the feeling we'll see a C200 or something. Maybe like a C137. Has the C300 mk ii sensor, crippled as f--.

You guys see this one? I'm stoked about this camera too.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I wouldn't expect it to do 4K 60p like the 1DX2, but I didn't expect the 1DX2 to be a 1DC with higher frame rates either.. What's funny is, I actually "did" expect the 1DC to still be $2k more because it had C-log... Because canon logic is weird.

Great DR. Hell of a deal on life insurance too

Which would you rather have? 1DC/5Dmkiii/A7sii/Other

As far as image, I've yet to see many cameras, including professional high end - surpass what the Mark 3 does raw. It clips gorgeously within the 11 stops, the color is something it has that most don't. I don't think I've actually seen any camera do what the ML raw colors on the Mark 3 do to be honest.. Other than that, it's still a hack and the idea of dropped frames is something that makes me second guess it when I've scheduled and paid a crew and a cast to be somewhere. People may not have problems with it, but I'd have to test it thoroughly before I trusted it. Besides that, I've always loved the 1DC. Out of the current C-line, it's my favorite image. That said however, I would hold out to see what's coming at NAB, or the Mark 4 for that matter. Then I'd make a decision. -
Moderate bitrate internally. 4K. Decent AF in comparison to the 1D2. No C-log. And of course... 8-bit. (however the XC-10 has it.) I'm pretty much sold on the 14-bit raw image coming out of mark 3 & I don't understand why they don't take that and run with it.

I don't foresee the global shutter being a major deal. BM have a pattern though. One that screws with you emotionally, lol. Announce a game changing camera at an awesome price point. Everyone preorders. Announce it's superior before it ships. Cancel preorders. repeat.

Yep. It sucks in Indiana too.. It was fine. I don't get it. I type something in the search bar and it contemplates your request now like its using the Dewey decimal system. connection level = God.

Canon seem to be completely fumble f'ked when it comes to the characteristics of what differentiates their product line. Just make it right "once". People would eat the hell out of the 1DX2. It's gorgeous.

I think I love you. I remember this one. I loved the Mark 2 before it even got a hack. Strangely enough, (to me at least) - it's the only 8-bit image I've still seen to this day that got skin right.

Hello! Sooooo... I've spent several days off and on combing through the magic lantern forums to find an answer to no avail. At this point you can snag a Mark 3 for a sweet deal, but I'd like to add ML for raw capabilities. It's been a while since I followed its progress, and last time I checked in, Canon okey-doked everyone with a newer firmware that didn't allow the ML port. All newer shipping Mark 3's wouldn't allow it, and you couldn't downgrade to the older firmware I'm told?? - so it's pretty much pointless.. I'm just curious if Magic Lantern works on the latest firmware for the Mark 3 and if it's stable. 1920x1080 raw with 1066 CF Lexars? Thanks in advance! This video still blows my mind. Gorgeous:

Gentlemen:). I've been out of the loop for a while, but this camera just seems bulletproof. I like Canon color and the MK2 will always hold a sweet spot. I'm also shooting stills like a madman. I like C-Log as well however, and while this isn't a deal breaker - I'm curious about loading a profile like Cinestyle vs. it's problems with banding, etc.. To my knowledge C-Log is implemented at phase one within the strengths of that particular sensor? (Not just a standard flat profile canon loads in all of its C line). Regardless, there's always prolost??!

Lol. These threads always turn into a Skip Bayless/Stephen Smith pissing contest by page 3.

Don't know if I'm late to the party on this one. I wanted to see more footage and found this: https://www.canon.com.au/1D-X-Mark-II

Well.. That escalated quickly. Lol. I miss these threads.. They can go from zero to gearslutz in 2.1 sec. Cracks me up.. There's always that "one guy". This site rules. Personally it's the only one that's ever posted anything consistently relevant to what I want to know. Hearing how Roger Deakins likes his eggs is nice on the other sites, but not very interesting.

I freaking love this camera and have from day one. That price was ridiculous though.. My only curiosity goes with the image. I had a C100, and didn't notice the really warm cast it had on the overall image until I saw comparison videos with the mark II. The color is a lot more honest with the new version and updated processor... which is what that has been attributed to. While the 1DC and C100 are 2 different cameras and processors, I'd hate to see an upgrade with better color after I bought a 1DC. Just curiosity. Canon seem to be addressing an issue with older image technology

Does Cinema EOS mark the end of high spec Canon DSLR video?
Germy1979 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Canon is a company that doesn't realize how many people want them to succeed. I like their cameras. Personally I still think the Mark 2 has one of best looking color sciences of any offering even today. I even like how they roll off highlights even if it is faster than most. It's pleasing. Plus they feel good in your hands, solid. But sadly if you look at it, the Mark 2 was where it ended. The mark 3 was muddy as hell and didn't really look as good imo. It took a hack to make these things competitive. I'll keep my eye on Canon, but I won't get my hopes up, even if the Mark 4 did have 4k. They'd destroy it in typical canon fashion to protect an already 8-bit 4k 1-DC. Sucks. -
This looks great. You can always pick up that 8-bit look though when you see skin. It always looks plastic

Awesome. I've always loved that camera. I agree as well on the x-factor. Can't put my finger on it, but it's why I've always preferred even it's stock image over the Mark 3. -
Anybody get their Pocket from B&H? I ordered mine on July 19 with a 7-14 day wait. It's weird just staring at this speedbooster...

It doesn't have an IR filter from what I understand. It's about as bare bones as it gets- 26 replies

IR and ND filters for Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera
Germy1979 replied to Damphousse's topic in Cameras
I got in on this too. I can't tell you in terms of the Pocket yet because I haven't received it, but on the 2.5k, I used a Fader Digi-Pro HD variable ND filter and a Hoya IR/UV cut in front of it with fantastic results and zero color cast. All other Variable Fader ND's sucked to me. The Heliopan was fine, but the Fader I had was better. Sad thing is, they discontinued it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/849877-REG/Light_Craft_10060_77mm_FADER_ND_DIGITAL.html I've heard that the Genus Eclipse is fantastic on the pocket though. This is just in terms of "variable" ND.. If you are patient enough for single ND's, the Tiffens with Water White Schott glass are stellar.- 26 replies

They wouldn't be so rude in person, because most know they would get planted like a brussel sprout. Tough guys on the internet. It's all they have in the world.
