  1. Had my pocket camera for about a week. I'm coming from a hacked GH1 and not an experienced videographer. My experience so far has been much more positive than negative. The main issue for me is the screen. I live in Australia and the ambient light is almost always very bright. I can see the image on my pocket screen, but focussing is tough. I'm going to need an eyepiece evf, more cost, and I will need at least a monopod. Both of which take it away from the 'pocket' sales pitch. Sound at the moment is unusable, but I didn't expect much more from in camera sound. On the plus side, I love the design and feel of the camera. Simple to set up and use. It works better with c-mount than my GH did. It's a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the GH3 here. Despite never having used zebras before, or Resolve, I'm already very happy with my early footage.
  2. I'm loving the NEX7 so far and don't own any Sony lenses. I'm using legacy glass (Leica/Alpa) and find the Nex 7's various focus assists are helping me create more good pictures than my Panasonic GH1. At the moment it's GH1 (hacked) for video and Nex 7 for stills and video for me.
  3. Interesting. I'm faced with this choice right now (SSD vs FW800 drive).
  4. I use a Metabones on the GH1. I generally like the Metabones adapters, although I use Voigtlander for my M mount adapters.
  5. I saw someone had chosen the SLR Magic 12mm, 1.6f specifically for Steadicam work. Manual lens though.
  6. I've read you can minimize moire with the settings you use. How?
  7. Thanks for the test and review. Very informative. The ergonomics of the Nex7 almost have me won over. I don't need ultimate video quality, but I also like to grade for FX sometimes (think pop videos), and I don't want to be battling with Moire and aliasing. Hard to know if these are deal breakers or quibbles, the latter being how they are described in Andrew's review.
