  1. That's a great deal. Does anyone know if it's the same panel that they use on the Ursa Minis?
  2. I wonder if we'll get some good closeout deals on CFast 2.0 cards.
  3. I edited this Mummy trailer:
  4. I say they aren't mutually exclusive. After years of using mutliple camera setups which were an A+ in certain area, and a D in others, I finally found one that is an A all around (for me). Of course it depends on what you're creating, but I think the UM46K is the most complete creative tool that "gets outta the way" and let's me focus on what I'm shooting. It's not tiny like a mirrorless camera or DSLR but it's still small enough to hold in one hand. No need for external recorders or monitors. Quick touch screen controls that are a breeze. I can go from 24p to 60p with a single press of a button on the monitor. Same with RAW. If I need to shoot RAW on a single shot...press a single button.
  5. Yeah 8K is going to benefit in pixel density for VR. It'll take a few years but I'm sure it'll be the norm.
  6. There's a new featurette available showing BTS. http://nofilmschool.com/2017/06/dp-roger-deakins-reveals-blade-runner-2049-tech-challenges-jaw-dropping-new-bts-featurette Which Canon camera is this that they're flying?
  7. It's banding. I pushed the grade pretty hard. There are spots where it shows. I may go back and fix some of those. Their label had a very limited time for post production.
  8. Yep. He's definitely a throw-back to 2000's Circa Survive or Coheed & Cambria.
  9. Here is a music video that I shot last month using the GH5 with 35mm and 50mm SLR Magic anamorphic primes. VLog L. 4K 8 bit. IBIS was a nice feature to go w/ the lenses whenever I needed handheld. I'm praying for in-camera anamorphic desqueeze from Panasonic this year!
  10. I get a small amount of vignetting at 18mm with the Sigma 18-35 on the 4.6K.
  11. @Zak Forsman probably has some good insight.
  12. The UltraCons look really nice on the Sigma 18-35 which has a generous amount of native contrast.
  13. Yeah they're a fun IT company. They're allowed to drink beer at 4 o'clock.
  14. I DP'd for this tech companies Christmas video. It's pretty cheesy, but I really like how the images turned out.
  15. Now that I'm looking on my iPad, I like #3 better than #2.
  16. I can't really say which frames are "better" or "worse" but I prefer 2.
  17. There is just something about that BM Super 16 sensor that is magical. I look back at stuff that I shot with the Pocket and think "Damn that was one of my favorite looking videos."
  18. I just listened to an hour long podcast with the DP of Fargo season 3. I've been really digging the look of the season. He gave some insight to his color profile, so I decided to make a LUT for V Log L based off of Fargo Season 3. By no means is it perfect but have fun: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gtpwt6gxczfnyrf/FargoSeason3VLogL.cube?dl=0
  19. Yeah I think I"m going to steer clear for now.
  20. I'm having a hard time getting an answer from them about focus throw. They say it rotates 360 with no hard stops. That's fine, but I'm curious if the distance from MIN to INFINITY increases with the gear mod.
  21. @mercer i was mostly joking, but thats a good point about CFast cards. I can offload 256gb using a CF2 reader through USB 3.0 in 5-10 minutes.
  22. If XF AVC is going to be 10 bit - this will be quite a camera. I imagine a year from now it'll be down to $6000 too.
  23. I was doing some research to see if I could find a lens mod to the Canon 17-55 f2.8 and came across this company. They have modded Canon L lenses as well. I cannot find any reviews online anywhere. Has anyone ever heard of this before? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Customized-Canon-EF-S-17-55mm-f-2-8-IS-USM-cine-lens-for-EOS-DSLR-Cameras-Pro/262784327395?_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D7ff8886fc03e4866a2f4a71191fd1515%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D14%26sd%3D272543007553&_trkparms=pageci%3Aab54cf51-4cab-11e7-87e1-74dbd180ceef%7Cparentrq%3A8a47e11015c0ab15e9e4ac45fffbc265%7Ciid%3A1
  24. I use this for my PC when I need to edit at Starbucks.
  25. The stretching of the footage is what slows it down for me. I can play back the 4:3 4K files in Premiere no problem. As soon as and adjust the scale to 58% x 29% it drags.
