You're going to spend more money on CFast 2.0 cards than the actual camera.

Yeah I actually don't mind having the black bars in a 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 file. The scaling playback is just so slow. I can play 4K or 10 bit GH5 files just fine in Premiere (other than anamorphic stretched).

I've had a hell of time editing 4K anamorphic 4:3 footage from the GH5. I guess it's the scaling that is slowing it down. Do any of you guys transcode your footage into the stretched aspect before you start editing?

Yeah I"m pretty sure it's intentional crippling. The processor is plenty powerful enough. There's a CFast 2.0 slot as well.

Why no in between? I would disagree that CLog doesn't need 10 bit. That was my biggest complaint with the C100mkII is the weak codec.

Great specs! Added almost everything I longed for in the C100. EDIT: Wait apparently not. It doesn't record internal 10 bit 4:2:2?

Not sure what you consider cheap, but the Ursa Mini 4.6k checks all of those boxes and more. No need for extra accessories other than batteries. The 5" screen is amazing so no need for an ext monitor if you're shooting by yourself.

Yeah I never had this happen on the GH4. I guess ill run some more 1 hr trials before using it un-manned again.

I've had that happen to me as well. This was more like it went into sleep mode while recording.

Has anyone had their GH5 shut off 30 min into recording? I was recording HD on a Sandisk Extreme 95 so I'm sure it wasn't a card error. I had it set up to record some BTS and when I checked on it 45 min later it has powered down. I turned it back on and the battery was still 3/4 full. I checked the file and it had recorded 31 minutes.

The main reason I would not buy it is that BM has abandoned that form factor it appears. It seems that they're moving all of their efforts into the Mini's. I would just pick up a used UM46K. There's a good amount of them for sale now that the UM Pro is out.

I've had a Lexar CFast 2.0 card fail on location. I have 4 total, and the one that failed was one that I ordered on eBay from China. I was suspicious - although it might've been a coincidence. Lexar replaced it anyway. I'm thinking about jumping to Sandisk CFast 2.0 cards. I've had a near perfect track record with their SD cards.

I haven't tried the BM EVF yet. I typically only use the SmallHD 502 with a sunhood if I'm outside.

Yeah Alex Buono was the DP for their shorts for a long time. I think he left last season to co-direct Documentary Now. He used to show BTS stuff on twitter. They used everything from 7D's, C300s, Alexa, RED, and actual film. The intro of the show from 2010 to 2015 was shot on a 7D. They also made custom aperture mattes to put in the camera that turned bokeh into the letters SNL.

@tihon84 I set white balance to 5400. There may be a quick function button for LUT preview. I've just been going into the menu and turning it off, which takes about 10 seconds.

You can make it your own. Kholi just takes an enormous amount of time to interpret gamma, luminance, hues, saturation to a pleasing image that you might be accustomed to seeing on Blackmagic footage. In my demo I tried to keep it pretty accurate to only his LUT with some minor contrast, hue changes.

Good question. I would assume so. It seems like VLog uses the same curve in the GH4, GH5, and Varicam.

Here is the link to purchase: https://www.thecampcomet.com/gh5luts Post workflow was easy. I just used the Comet Color LUT and made small adjustments to contrast, saturation, and tint. I pushed it toward magenta a bit more b/c of all the greenery. I used the LUT to monitor at the location as well.

Kholi finished the Comet Color LUT for V Log. It's not supposed to emulate film or any other camera. Just a specific look, similar to the one's he made for Blackmagic.

Fair enough. I loved Sicario. My expectations weren't very high going in though. I think I saw it before all of the reviews were out.
