The Varicam LT sensor for 4999 would be amazing.

That 300d is quite amazing. The amount of detail that they put into the lighting is astounding. Such as changing the pitch of 2 fans to keep it quieter. My entire lighting kit now is Aputure and Quasar Science.

If it's not a speedbooster then I'd say just use the actual focal length. When I use a Nikon speedbooster I multiply my desired focal length by .7 and manually enter that number. That could be wrong so someone else may chime in.

The GH5 problem sucks but to be honest I've had good experiences with Adobe when I've needed help. They do screen shares and have a tech figure out problems. The three times that I've done a session with them they've figured out an obscure problem. They do need to set up a real feature request email system though. That would be smart.

I had a dumb adapter for the Nikon version of the Sigma lens, so it wasn't receiving any data.

Are you converting LOG into a specific color profile first? I find that Cineon to Film Contrast has the best interpretation of V Log. You still have to add a bit of saturation to get it looking like an "in camera" profile however.

Like 709 has a nice natural look, but so does V Log if you want it. V Log is so much more versatile. If there's no time to do grading then I'd go with Like 709 or Natural.

You can shoot 60p with the 4K anamorphic mode on the GH5, with VLog, but it's currently 8 bit.

Looks awesome! I've got a question for you. I'm going to be shooting the standard 4K anamorphic mode (4:3) on the GH5. I'm thinking about renting the SLR Magic Anamorphic Prime T2.4 35mm. Will 35mm cover the sensor on the GH5? Your video seemed to cover it just fine.

Yeah it's a bummer. It's the perfect all around lens with the Metabones XL in my opinion. Extremely jerky right now though while using handheld.

I'm getting the IS from the Canon 24-105 to work, but I can't access the IBIS within the GH5. Is that normal for this lens or a feature that needs to be updated in firmware?

Do you have ISO accidentally set to AUTO? It'll look like you're changing it but if it's in AUTO it will jump around.

I believe it. I have no way to scientifically test, but by eye, it looks like the BMCC DR, maybe 1 less stop than the UM46K.

Not to accelerate the Mac vs PC debate but I've used custom PC towers for video/music work the past 8 years with virtually no troubles at all. I wouldn't even think about switching. I just love being able to add Nvidias new cards when they're released. I'm a huge fan of Apple's ecosystem of personal use though. I use iPhone, iPad, Macbook, and Apple Watch.

I noticed this when shooting 180fps. After I set exposure and hit record it gets about 2 stops darker.

I'm curious about this as well. I had it set to 35mm with the Sigma 18-35 and the stabilization on the 18mm end was shitty. I guess you do need to manually change it?

That is a pretty good way to replicate it but it's not the same. Even the author admits such. A 24mm lens is a 24mm lens. A 50mm lens is a 50mm lens.

Technically it's not like like having 2 or 3 lenses. The characteristics of a 12mm zoomed 2x (in camera) is going to look different than using an actual 24mm. You'll get the same FOV but it's going to look different. Think about the scene in Jaws where they do a dolly out - zoom in. That would look entirely different if you were dollying out while digitally scaling the image.

Just got my GH5 (earlier than I expected) so I ordered VLog today and it should be here Monday. I'm going to do a head to head test with the UM46K.
