  1. This thread may be helpful for me. I just got the Rangefinder to use with my Takumar 50mm and Singer 16D. I did some testing with/without the rangefinder and the background is stretched vertically by quite a bit with the RF. Is that normal? It's rather odd looking compared to the "anamorphic only" footage. I can still return it and get the Rectilux but I wanted to find out if that's a characteristic of both, or just the RF.
  2. Bringing this thread back from the dead. I'm testing the Rangefinder this week with a Takumar 50mm and Singer 16D. One thing I noticed is that when comparing the RF on and off, it really distorts the background vertically, through the RF. It's not subtle either. When the rangefinder is off the image is pleasant and looks like typical anamorphic distortion, but when the RF is on it's like I stretched everything vertically. Is that just a characteristic of the RF?
  3. The comment was deleted but confirmed ?
  4. As far as levels go yeah the limiter helps. Im no expert but from what I've heard in samples it doesn't sound as natural. Of course in a pinch I would definitely use a limiter.
  5. I hope the Inferno can match O7Q capabilities b/c I didn't like the O7Q as a monitor. The Atomos monitors are so much better IMO.
  6. This is true. The guy that I work with uses 3. A boom, lav, and another directional mic with gain turned down in case someone spontaneously yells or talks too loud on one word or sentence
  7. Thanks. I didn't realize that F Log was external only. Fuji's film profiles are so good though, I doubt I would use anything other.
  8. Yeah a ProRes file would be awesome, or even just a high quality JPEG of an F-Log shot.
  9. I'll bet on that production it was all on set.
  10. Depending on your role I would suggest finding a dedicated sound guy/gal in your area. There's such a night and day difference in quality when they can focus solely on that mic placement. If you're just setting up a mic for an interview then that's a different story.
  11. Look's good. Do you have any files that you could share?
  12. Dustin, I'm 90% sure I was using the Canon 24-105 that day. F4. No lighting at all other than the window of the coffee shop.
  13. luke, Video will aLways be a priOrity for G-series REgardless of Competition. 709 new features. looking forward to a PREVIEW?
  14. Well that's good news if it's an option. If it's good quality HD that's still very nice.
  15. I think that's under the photo IQ setting. The movie icon is down around 5th from the top.
  16. Yeah it can definitely be used as an event camera. I would use a 90wh V mount battery to keep the weight down.
  17. I was in the same situation that you are -earlier this year. I had C100ii and loved everything except the weak codec. I sold it and bought an FS700 + O7Q. So many things to love about it. -RAW to ProRes recording in the O7Q was great. Nice sturdy files. -Tons of slow mo options that were exciting. -Used with a Speedbooster you get near full frame coverage. The reason that I didn't keep it for long: weight. It was pretty awkward to always have the 7" O7Q connected and the ergonomics are not already great on the FS700. I do a lot of handheld work so it just wasn't right for me. I ended up get the BM Ursa Mini 4.6K since I could record big ProRes files in camera and also have a wonderful 5" screen on camera.
  18. Fuji colors are just legendary. The XT-1 is the first stills camera I've owned where I don't do any editing on them. I just use the Provia color profile. The XT-2 is very tempting with video now.
  19. Why would they remove the OLPF for the G80 if they want it marketed to video users?
  20. Cool concept. I like the fact that medium format will be in a small mirrorless body.
  21. Nice features! The important piece of the puzzle to me will be the sensor and DR.
  22. Didn't mean to start the ole Apple vs. Samsung debate. If you say that one phone is superior and the other is garbage then you're kidding yourself.
