Requesting a 4K 5D Mark IV! Werner meets Canon in Germany
AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Haha i feel like it's intentionally meant to be a funny. Fincher directed Alien 3 and said he hated it so much that it nearly ended his career. -
The UM46K has an overall magenta bias. It really helps with skintones though b/c you can just drag the tint toward green a bit and it looks perfect. For some reason green/yellow bias cameras are harder to get the red/magentas correct in the skin. It's very subtle though in the comparison. Both look great IMO.

The resolution and color looks better IMO on the 4.6K, but I think the Terra cameras look really nice. Especially the form factor and features. I think they could give Blackmagic some competition. EDIT: The resolution looks about the same now that I watch it in 4K.

I saw this on YouTube. Kinemax 6K compared with the Ursa Mini 4.6K.

Yeah for the free acct it's 10GB bandwith a day. Paid acct it's 250GB. I've got 1TB of Dropbox storage if you want me to host it.

How big are they? You could use Dropbox or a throwaway Google Drive account.

Ahh yes. I guess I didn't look at which one. It's the AIS indeed.

Nikkor 28mm f2.8 is also a good "all around" vintage lens.

I started on After Effects so naturally I gravitated toward Premiere when I started cutting live action stuff. I have nothing to compare really but I've always loved it (although they take a while to support new codecs).

Yeah I'd definitely go with one of the 24-105 with a full frame camera.

Here is a 4.6K DNG from the Ursa Mini. https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5cefn7xt2y43xg/Blackmagic%20URSA%20Mini_1_2016-04-14_0619_C0023_000130.dng?dl=0

Blackmagic URSA Mini - $2995 - official thread
AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Here is the finished video. Everything was shot on the UM46 ProRes UHD. One shot on a beach was with an iPhone 6. -
Premiere really needs to add support for BMD's compressed Raw files!

Ole trusty GH4. I can always count on her.

Thanks. The 120 fps mode is like shooting Super 16. Alot of crop. The image looks really good though. The weight is pretty substantial with battery pack, but its evenly distributed which makes it easy to hold. When not shooting I just hold it up like this and it's like carrying a football. -

It's possible that since it's new, everyone is trying to show off the DR and the super polished/clean look. I don't think it would be hard at all to make it cinematic. There's a lot of things that make a shot cinematic such as lighting but you could crush the hell out of the contrast and add some grain. Desaturate a little bit. Use a Tiffen Digital Diffusion filter. I may try to rough it up a bit for a test soon. -

There's no doubt that they know it's there, they just haven't made an official statement of the cause or remedy. THere's an overall magenta cast that is totally fine, and is easy to fix with a tint slider (which they're adding in firmware 4.0). At first they thought that people were complaining about the overall cast but that's not the issue for some. I bet in the next couple of weeks BM will make some kind of statement. -
I know here it's around $650 minimum day rate for SAG actors.

Luckily mine doesn't have the magenta vignette problem. I feel bad for the people who are having the problem b/c Blackmagic isn't really acknowledging it. I've tried to help out alot of users who are using the same lenses as me to figure out if there's is defective. It's pretty obvious when it is. If they can get that problem sorted out it's gonna be a huge hit. I love the Micro camera too. The images look great. -

John, I haven't noticed a different motion than the other BM cams but most of this video is 48 fps slow mo. I've shot a few other things at 24p and didn't notice the motion being videoish. -

Dug up an old thread to share some screen shots from a 4.6K video I just shot for photographer Daniel Kelleghan. Full video should be up Monday. I'm so blown away everytime I use the camera. The color and DR is just insane. Shot in ProRes UHD with the Sigma 18-35. -
Daylight 5000k-6000k best to light actors skin?
AaronChicago replied to exomonkeyman's topic in Cameras
A lot of this is in the color grade. They'll push the mids and mid/lows to teal/blue. Then add a qualifier on the actors skin to bring up orange/warm saturation. Another good way to shoot this is to use Tungsten lighting and add one daylight practical source in the background to give a pop of color contrast. Notice that the lighting on the right is overall warm. In the background is a daylight or blue practical. In post they push everything toward a cool blue/green except Mark Wahlberg's skin. -
Definitely one of the top 8 bit looking images out there. Unfortunately it's still obvious that it's 8 bit. Especially when haze/smoke is involved.
