  1. I went ahead and updated the orginal video. Added some contrast throughout the whole thing. Shooting at -2 in camera seems like it is the answer. Thanks
  2. Ok so I pushed up contrast what would normally make (I believe) up to a -2 in camera. Check them out: Before/After
  3. Agree. That first video is beautiful. This camera is gonna be wildly popular.
  4. it's worth a shot. The amount of contrast added by the Alexa LUT is nearly perfect for -5 in camera, but maybe shooting 0 and taking out a bit of contrast in post would work.
  5. Thanks Marty. Yeah there is still a tiny bit of grey cast, but enormously better looking than the regular profiles. It mixes really well with C100 footage (which was my goal). The key is riding a fine line with the hue slider and pushing toward magenta.
  6. Here is the full video with the Arri Alexa SL LUT applied. My camera settings are under the description.
  7. So for anyone who does not have the newest Premiere I have made available the LUT pack. 8. I'm definitely a fan of your looks. I prefer (like yours) a more stylized less saturated grade for most projects. The main reason I was testing color with GH4 Portrait was to get something close to Canon C100 colors. Focusing on the girls hair was a good indicator of how realistic I could make the red channel. When I added the Alexa LUT it looked spot on with how it looked in real life. I don't know how or why but it just takes the GH4 color and turns it into a more realistic looking image. 90% of the time I wouldn't finish a video with a "100% realistic" color look, but there are times when I do and it's nice to have that option.
  9. thanks for doing that. I'm outside today and it's hard to judge colors in the sun on my iphone but will definitely check it later.
  10. thanks man. The Alexa SL LUT is part of Premiere Lumetri. it was on the edge if clipping. The contrast pushed it over. they vary. This particular LUT adds contrast and color to the GH4 profile. yep I've had shitty results with the other LUTS like Blackmagic. I just tested this one on a whim and was shocked.
  11. Thanks I sent you an email. This is pretty much what I encountered. As you'll see the person's hair is way more orange/yellow than red in the "Portrait" clip. Of course I could do some color tweaks to fix it but I was happy to see that simply applying the Alexa S profile brought out very realistic colors. Another frame grab. First one is Alexa SL profile. Second is Portrait with Contrast and slight saturation boost.
  12. Yes the alexa colors are near perfect from what i remember. The Portrait colors could use more magenta, but even then it doesn't look nearly as natural.
  13. Interesting. Could I send you this clip and see what that custom LUT looks like vs the Alexa LUT?
  14. I took out my GH4 to a Ren Faire today testing out Portrait profile with 96fps HD. I've always used either Cine D, or Cine V, but wanted to try something different. So I shot everything with Portrait profile. After importing to Premiere CC I added Arri Alexa SL profile LUT. The colors looked really nice. I then tried just added some contrast to the original image and comparing the 2. Have a look and tell me that the Alexa LUT doesn't produce cleaner colors? Honestly do need opinions. First is Alexa LUT. Second is Contrast only.
  15. From Hook's video to the review by OneRiverMedia, the footage coming off of that sensor is apparently jaw dropping. It'll just be something bizarre than needs a firmware update - like footage recording upside down or something.
  16. Did some more tests. I feel like this version is "low flare" but I'll double check.
  17. Not a bad idea. You can always return it if it's a fail. I doubt it will be though.
  18. This guy rules. I hope he keeps reviewing cameras. "I do alot of asian weddings."
  19. This is the camera everyone was expecting Panasonic to make.
  20. That's pretty amazing that you've made a legitimate full length feature, with distribution, AND got a positive review from Chris Klimek!
  21. I think it was vignetting by hitting a piece of the glass. 28mm and above seems fine. This is at 35mm (of my little boy).
  22. So I borrowed an Anamorphx to test. Most shots have flaring whites on the left/right. Any idea why? I'm such a noob when it comes to anamorphic.
