IBIS just isn't a pro video feature. Blackmagic's brand is all about uncompromised image quality. I would agree that the Pocket is the one BM camera targeted toward the masses, but they won't stray far from their brand.

Very nice. I love your delivery as well.
-
True. If not flip out then at least the quality on par with the Ursa screens.

The 5 things that would make the update WELL worth it. 4K Slow Mo Canon Batteries Full sized HDMI Flip out screen

How Many Stops of Dynamic Range Needed for Cinematic Look?
AaronChicago replied to jonpais's topic in Cameras
I think the BM pocket cinema camera is a good example of cinematic image for under $1000. There's the process of cinema (movie making) and cinema image (what's seen on the screen). Time is underrated expense, and I believe if you have time on your side anything is possible with minimal equipment. 10 yrs ago I would agree that cinematic image may have been too out-of-reach for most, in regards to the camera. -

There's definitely a camera element involved. I'm just saying we've hit it. Back in 2009 one could argue we need to come a way in tech to be affordable + cinematic. That has plateu'd in my opinion though. -

We've hit the point where there is NO excuse for not shooting cinematic footage with even a $1000 camera. Everything from now on will just be nitpicking features to make things easier/quicker/efficient. -
Atomos has made a step toward monitor only with the Sumo M. It's $500 cheaper.
-
What I would love more than 5" is a super thin and light weight 7" Atomos monitor only. Similar to the SmallHD 702 but even lighter (using less durable materials).

Super cool to see this, and hear PTA's thoughts.

Where are you seeing the noise? It's surprisingly very clean from what I've experienced. Especially at the native ISOs.

Putting together a lens set - to cine or not-cine?
AaronChicago replied to ThomHaig's topic in Cameras
If you’re in it for the long haul I’d consider the Veydra Mini primes. They hold value better that Rokinon, although theyre more expensive. Optically they’re on par with the newer Zeiss super speeds. The focus throw on the Veydras are nice bc theyre so small. The big cine lenses are truly a huge pain to handheld focus when they’re 300 degrees. -

Are you sure that you’ll be shooting MFT for a long time to come? -
The hurry up and wait stuff is what I'm interested in. Haha. There are plenty of scenes with Miles Teller and Jena Malone acting and NWF giving direction.

Nicolas Winding Refn (love him or hate him) has a live Facebook camera on his production of Too Old To Die Young. Each video is about 45 minutes of unedited BTS. https://www.facebook.com/pg/TOTDYTV/videos/?ref=page_internal

These tests can be accurate, and honestly more accurate than boasted DR. BUT, you have to look at the perspective relative to other cameras. These are "usable DR". They rate the 5DII at 6 stops. I'm sure they'd rate the GH5 at 8, and the Ursa Mini at 11. Usable DR is a bit subjective.
-
That side menu looks pretty slick.
-
Not extensively. Low light on the GH5s I know would crush the UMP. I'm guessing color might be somewhat similar. DR range I'm sure is better on the UMP.
-
I recently did a test with the GH5s + Speedbooster Ultra and Ursa Mini Pro (Super 35). They were nearly identical. Actually the GH5s might have been ever so slightly wider FOV.
-
When you're shooting in HLG with a LUT, it won't bake in the file. Only for preview. Make sure your color management settings in Resolve are set to REC2100.
-
I finally got a chance to use the GH5s in a real world interview setting. I'm matching it up with the Ursa Mini Pro and it's looking gggreat. Leica R 60mm.
-
Hell yeah it's a deal. If you have a GH5 you need to get it, with the pan/tilt mount.
-
Same here. Lensrentals doesn't have one available till March 29. No one on Sharegrid has it yet.

Why did he shoot with a 140 degree shutter? Ahhh.
