  1. From time to time I make these "What I Think I Look Like" series videos. Here's the newest one. Shot on C100 Mark II. The intro shots were done by Empire Media Works. Music by Jack White.
  2. I use this card for GH4 and C100 with no problems. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1003464&gclid=CMvx6KqMqcYCFYcCaQod7agJsg&Q=&m=Y&is=REG&A=details Sandisk Extreme Pros are great too but I find that they're only "needed" with the Blackmagic Pocket Camera.
  3. That's actually quite impressive that a band member knew about a GH4. I talk to photographers all of the time who don't have a clue about Panasonic. To your point I agree. The only reason I upgrade is if it makes my job easier working the camera. I'd say we're at that point this year where tech is good enough to "just do it".
  4. Cool video. My favorite bit is when he and the director viewed the film for the first time and said "this is a piece of shit". Haha. Spent 10 days fixing it.
  5. Damn. Such anger from a joke. The funny thing is: yes she could if she wanted to.
  6. For anyone interested in checking out a cheap demo of VR, order Google Cardboard for $15. It works with your smartphone and is pretty impressive. Not 100% like Oculus b/c its all stationary, but you get a good taste of things to come.
  7. Hi Peter, thanks for checking out my videos. My original thought in not sharing my portfolio was basically just showing relevant content in my pitch video. My portfolio is pretty heavy on the LEGO side of things b/c I do alot of work with Ninjago. I didn't want people to get the wrong impression of how I want to approach this particular short film. Where do you live by the way?
  8. Here are the 2 lead female characters that I'm planning on using.
  9. Well, it's already free. Johnny has it available on his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/johnnyjewel/symmetry-themes-for-an I'm thinking that I'll just lower the "thank you" reward down to $20.
  10. I'm open to that. Any ideas on something to offer?
  11. Regarding the $4000. I do have access to vintage cars, motorcycles, gear, and a sound engineer. The money will go toward 2 actors and props/wardrobe/location fees. You're right that I could do this myself if I sold a camera or something but I want the community process where people can feel apart and connected.
  12. Zach I understand what you mean about having no story, but my goal is to reverse the process which is something unique in my opinion. That is why I wanted to get others involved. To be apart of the process. I'm creating the soundtrack FIRST, then creating a story based off of the music. I have an idea of the visual style but I'm drawing 100% inspiration off of the soundtrack (which kicks ass).
  13. Hey all. I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for advice on crowd funding, and crowd sourcing. I got some great advice, especially from Zak Forsman. I've launched a Kickstarter and my goal is to create a short film based entirely off of a soundtrack. The said soundtrack is from Johnny Jewel (Chromatics) and can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/johnnyjewel/symmetry-themes-for-an I've contacted Johnny and received permission to use the score in a non-profit sense. It's very 80's influenced and the movies I'm rewatching for inspiration are Escape From New York, Terminator, Collateral, Nightcrawler, and a few more. It's going to be led my a strong female character and take place on the streets of Chicago, at night. If you guys could help me out even with a few dollars I'd be forever grateful! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/172703888/symmetry-short-film
  14. At least they're not taking the video game route and releasing junk firmware to meet a deadline.
  15. Makes sense. I never got used to node based programs b/c I always used After Effects so layers are more comfortable for me. But that's just preference I guess. Re: tracker. It's very easy now to run a mask tracker in Premiere. I think that was updated in the last version but it's saved me a ton of time not going into AE to do it.
  16. Specifically what do you think the controls are missing? Not being a dick or anything just curious. The only thing I've found is missing is a secondary qualifier but I use Colorista for that.
  17. That's exactly why I avoided it. Way too many steps for longer videos. I can't speak for Magic Lanterns Raw files, but for Blackmagic's you simply import the folders into Premiere. Drag the first DNG into the timeline and it automatically lays out the full sequence, with sound. Click on "COLOR" and a full suite of controls will come up. LUT input, exposure, Color temp, tint, contrast, saturation, vibrance, sharpen, Then there are secondary controls with color wheels, curves, creative LUTs, vignettes, etc. I can play Raw files in realtime now on CC 2015 as well. It was a bit sluggish before.
  18. What do you mean? Raw controls in 2014 were super limited. Maybe 3 or 4 sliders. They now have full controls like in AE, Lightroom, and Photoshop. What's missing in the 2015 toolbox?
  19. Raw is becoming more appealing to me now. In the past I've avoided it b/c of the workflow and storage space. The new Premiere CC 2015 has native Raw controls within the timeline. That's a huge selling point for editing with Raw in my opinion. Storage is getting cheaper. Waiting to see what the Micro Cinema Camera images look like and hopefully they avoid that awful aliasing and color moire that the pocket had.
  20. Just curious, is the job long term? If not I would just rent a camera for temporary use. EDIT: Sorry I see where you said it will stay at the institution.
  21. Are you saying you'd trade those for a GH4 body?
  22. I'm sure this crew said they wanted IMAX and couldn't afford it. Had to settle on Super 16mm. Amateurs.
  23. For modifiers I use this small kit on 80% of shoots: http://www.adorama.com/djfkpb.html
