  1. What kind of work do you do with the camera? That might make it easier to give advice. BM's are great, and the GH4 is outstanding in my opinion. Can't go wrong with either.
  2. If I were you I would wait till it's released and then rent it, if possible. You'd be surprised at how much real world testing impacts a decision over specs.
  3. I'm so happy with this update. Everything runs so much smoother with Mercury Playback. After Effects now has real time playback with sound. I've been pushing for that since the beginning.
  4. That's my point. It's budget-minded video features that you're talking about. Of course Canon sucks now in that area. That's such a tiny fragment of the big picture. I'm just saying phrases like "Canon is finished" is laughable.
  5. Guys, it's absurd to say Canon is doomed because they're not putting out cutting edge DSLR/Mirrorless cameras for video. They're crushing in the stills arena. Their Cx00 lines are a hit. Canon glass is extremely popular. It's a bummer they're not catering to the small camera video crowd but they're not going anywhere.
  6. That would be bizarre to feature global shutter and not mention it in the release specs.
  7. Looks great. Big fan of Refused too.
  8. You will not be disappointed with the 501. I just got a 502 and sold my DP7 bc it makes that screen look like shit. The 501/502 is the best image ive ever seen on a 5" monitor. Basically like looking at an iPhone 6 screen.
  9. Canon is still the best user experience as far as the Cx00 line goes. That's worth alot in my opinion. Image-wise Sony is really doing a great job and on the cutting edge.
  10. Thanks Zak, that's inspiring.
  11. It works with music. I don't see why it wouldn't work in small scale with film. With music it's like you're fronting the $10 cost of the album. If people donate $5 here and there it's like they're paying for the film "On Demand".
  12. I hope to make enough money one day to do that.
  13. Yeah so I did mean Crowdfund, but Crowdsource would work as well. I'm not worried too much about failing to raise the money. If it fails, it fails. I just wanted to get an idea of whether or not it was a dick move. I guess it's not if there are many out there. Is Kickstarter a better option that GoFundMe in your opinion?
  14. I wanted to see what you guys thought about crowd sourcing for a short film. Is it a dick move, or is it acceptable? I got permission from an artist to use a soundtrack that was unused in a motion picture and it inspired me to write a short story. I'm looking to raise less than $5,000. Strictly for wardrobe, actors, sound guy. I don't know what to offer in the way of rewards other than the film will be free and possibly being an extra in the film. For strangers to donate I figure there has to be a hook, and the hook is I'm laying out the soundtrack first - before writing/shooting.
  15. You're right about D being best for talent. Smooth midtones. I'm shocked that C was D16. It looks super soft and larger sensor than Super 16.
  16. Didn't JJ Abrams do this on Star Trek? Intentionally shining a beam into the anamorphic lens to create the streaks?
  17. I could be way off here in my analysis, but I thought of the "bare landscape" of Ex Machina was supposed to subtly hint at the world back at beginning of man. Kind of like how 2001 has the old cave and monkey intro. Again, just my analysis.
  18. Just curious, what is your go-to camera in real life?
  19. BM pocket, and Micro Cinema Camera could benefit from this as well.
  20. Just put my current SB on ebay, hopefully these new ones don't sell out soon.
  21. Are you talking about the blurred edges when it's at the lowest aperture mark?
  22. I'm going to guess the 4 cameras are GH4, NX1, BMPCC, and Canon DSLR (7D,T2i,5D, etc.)
