USM lenses don't work with face tracking on the Dual Pixel AF (at least on my C100 MkII). Haven't tried with the 70D.
-
Does anyone know why only STM lenses work with face tracking? EDIT: Nevermind, I see they explain it in the video above.
-
The more I test my C100 Mark II, the more I'm liking Wide DR setting instead of Canon LOG. I cannot see any difference in dynamic range after its graded, and it's much easier to gauge exposure without an external monitor & LUTs.

It's been 3 days and I still can't stop thinking about it. Must go again tonight : )

Here is pure proof that the movie is genius: Alot of people enjoyed it for a pure action movie (which it is), and many enjoyed it as an action movie plus layers of subtext (which it is). Either way it's enjoyable. Miller is just too smart to leave symbolism and subtext untouched. I mean look at the writing on the wall: "WHO KILLED THE WORLD?"
-
SPOILERS For fans of the film, check out this theory about the apocalypse. There is symbolism of the Four Horsemen and it makes total sense: http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/368fkl/fury_road_theory_who_killed_the_world_four/

The costumes/makeup were unbelievable. It felt like Tatooine on steroids.

LOVED IT! One of the most intricate, stylish action film I've ever seen. Mel Gibson is still a better Max but he was basically a secondary character in Fury Road.

Best Recording Monitor under $1000: Atomos reacts to the BM Video Assist?

Something I've done numerous times and no one has ever noticed. Convert your native files to ProRes in post and deliver them. -
Best Recording Monitor under $1000: Atomos reacts to the BM Video Assist?
AaronChicago replied to andrgl's topic in Cameras
Which camera are you using? I was stoked on using the BM monitor as a ProRes recorder for my C100 but found out it doesn't convert 60i to 24p. -
Can't wait to see it this weekend. Did anyone watch the full video with the DP? He takes some jabs at RED toward the end. Someone asked why he didn't use RED and he said "I've heard bad things about overheating" and that it's made by "a sunglasses company". Hahah. He's an old school film guy, and this was his first job using digital cameras. Said he loved the Alexa and is not going back to film.
-
Around 1 hour 6 minutes the DP calls out Tom Hardy saying it's hard to plan shots with sunlight when your actor is 2 hours late everyday.
-
I haven't seen Fury Road yet, but the original films were visual based. I saw a breakdown of the opening sequences of the original Mad Max on how much information was conveyed visually - without dialogue. George Miller seems to be a master in that regard.
-
From the DP. Alot of great information. https://vimeo.com/127381179

Well, DoF isn't the only thing. Angle of view changes. People are used to seeing certain lenses "look" a certain way on Super 35. Kind of like how people are used to 24 fps in cinema. It's just part of the look.

I've seen some amazing pieces of work in the Screening Room and it'll have ONE comment. I consider EOSHD more tech focussed and thats great.
-
I've never used the EM-5 but GH3 is a great camera. The sensor stabilization on the EM-5 might be great for run n' gun. Check out the review here

Does anyone have any experience with tweaking the color matrix? The only unique settings I've come across are from Art Adams, and matching the C300 to Alexa. I honestly did not even know this was all possible till a few days ago when I was going through the C100mkII menus and found it.
-
I think nailing skin texture is more important. Color can be important for certain types of work, but any type of creative shooting can have colors all over the board. Just look at any David Fincher movie.

I really wish the 18-35 was 17-35. But there is always the array of 17-55 lenses (Canon, Sigma, Tamron). They're pretty sharp and clinical.
-
Yeah, the difference in the 18-35, and 11-16 is night and day. Too different to mix & match. I'm hoping Sigma with release an ART wide angle to go against Tokina.
-
Sigma 18-35 is my favorite lens. Not sure about for wide end though. i've been using Tokina 11-16 and not a big fan. It adds way too much contrast and is hard to match other lenses.

So one has guessed - so I'll say: Slow Mo = FS7 Everything else = GH4

Canon XC10 "lens slides out" when used on drone

Wow seeing it in someones hands, that is pretty small. Basically DSLR size.
