If he's starting building a company this is a bad idea for a 2 reasons. 1. No disrespect to him, but the chances of a first time film being a hit is slim to none. 2. His bread and butter is corporate, music videos, and events. With good equipment he'd be able to book jobs and make bank on simple projects. Work some events and make back that $18,000 in no time. After some capital is built, then maybe shoot a short/feature.

Awesome! Yeah he used to be the singer in a band called Spitalfield here in the US. They were pretty popular in the pop punk/emo genre 8 years ago. Toured with Fall Out Boy alot. Mark started his solo project in 2011.

FYI. I've been doing some testing with the Luxi vs iPhone 6 front camera. The iPhone camera is consistently off -300k in every source I've tested. If you did not want to spend $29 on the Luxi adapter you could just use your phone camera and adjust for that -300k every time.

True. I don't have much experience with LEDs but I can imagine that is an issue right now.

Hey! Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I should have said near perfect compared to the $1500 meters.

Not sure if you guys have seen this, but the newest update allows for color temperature readings: http://www.adamwilt.com/cinemeterii/ All you have to do is buy this Luxi adapter, attach it on your iPhone camera, and the app reads out nearly perfect color temp.

My point was that rolling shutter and global are a different kind of motion that is easier to spot, in my opinion. I think anyone would prefer the look of global over rolling, in the context of motion.
-
It's possible that a few of us are talking about different things. CCD vs CMOS is pretty easy to identify in my opinion, with jello, slanting, etc. When I think of motion cadence it is more of how each frame is connected.

I suspect this is the main culprit.

Ah yes. Forgot about 4K. -

I guess cost is comparable to tier 2, but if one could put a pancake wide angle on a C100 for the same weight as the XC10 I just don't see a reason for it in the drone space. The C Log footage does look great though. -
I shot this music video with the FS7 and GH4. Other than the super slow mo, can you tell which is which? (password protected for now, waiting for his label's approval to release) password: rose

That's not very light. The C100 is 2.1 lbs without a lens. Wonder why they're marketing it as a drone camera. -
So what are you saying is the key to great motion cadence? Global shutter? I don't think so. Alexa and Blackmagic Cinema Camera have a beautiful motion cadence and they're both CMOS.
-
Hey, if GH4 ends up getting LOG you might want to get an external monitor that can display LUTs. I own a SmallHD DP7 that is great, but just a bit heavy. They just came out with the 502 that is very light (like a smartphone) that will display LUTs: https://www.smallhd.com/lp/502/

I hate numbers too, but I have a feeling its how each frame is processed. Compression can totally ruin motion cadence. One good example is when you see 5D h264 footage vs RAW. Film is literally just 24 individual frames, one after another.

Yeah the one by Captain Hook on their site.

There is footage out of the 4.6k sensor and it looks amazing. Other than Alexa, BM motion cadence is the best I've seen other than maybe RED.

I didn't realize the XC10 was that lightweight. What does it weigh? -

What about the Blackmagic 4k cam? Raw,4K, lightweight. -

What kind of BMW ad doesn't have the budget to rent RED? Not being a jerk, just genuinely curious. -

Specs aside, I've seen some amazing looking footage from the GH4 on drones. Even with the new GoPro "de-fisheyed". Aerial shots have such a wow factor that I don't believe people are going to look at it and say it sucks b/c it has 10 stops of DR instead of 12. -

What ever happened to them blocking copyrighted songs? All of my videos with copyrighted music is still up and working.
