  1. Yeah. That's where I wish Panasonic would offer up a selection.
  2. At least Canon offers alternatives. I'm still mad at Panasonic for not releasing a kick ass AF200. (yet)
  3. Dedolights make a great set of LEDs that are super customizable. A full set will run more than 2K though. You could always get 2 Flolight fluorescent banks (similar to Kino Flo but half the price), and 2 Arri 650W fresnels. Mix in a couple of diffusers and flags - you'll have a good kit.
  4. Looks good. I love Sigma. I'm thinking of just going with the Canon 10-18 b/c of weight, and the STM feature of face tracking.
  5. For a B cam you're safe with the cheap adapters. Especially if its locked off on a tripod most of the time. For your A cam you'll probably want to get a solid built one which I think are Metabones, and Novoflex.
  6. What do you use Hitfilm for mostly? I use After Effects for motion graphics and I dont' really have complaints about speed in that regard. Can you do motion graphics and video at the same timeline in Hitfilm?
  7. I'm too 'stuck in my ways' with AE. I've been using it since I was 14. It would be really weird to relearn an effects program.
  8. I would just buy one light at a time as your budget allows. They are great quality and worth every penny IMO. I haven't seen any alternatives that are cheaper/good quality.
  9. Wow that looks ideal! It's even STM which will allow for face tracking on the C100. Not worried about the f3.5-5.6 either since most of gimbal shots are outdoors.
  10. I'm looking forward to the day when After Effects and Premiere merge into one program (if possible). Dynamic Link is pretty nice, but it's still extra steps.
  11. Example where I'm picking the GH4 over C100. This week I'm shooting a product video which is basically just showcasing the product in overhead soft lighting. The GH4 in 4K is the right camera for it b/c of the resolution and sharpness. Plus I'm shooting on a tripod.
  12. I did have a Speedbooster/Sigma (still do). There were times when the pocket would get great looking shots but it was just too unreliable in my opinion. The C100 MkII is awesome. The image itself isn't much different from the GH4 but it's a better all around camera. I'll be using GH4's as B cams, and hopefully with LOG it'll match up nice to C-Log.
  13. I have to disagree here. The pocket has a little bit more dynamic range, but that's it. There are so many problems with the V1 Pocket Camera. Moire and aliasing was awful. Black grids appearing when a light flare hits the side of the lens. Unpredictable. On top of that low light sucks, as well as battery life etc. I was denial for a few months but finally decided to get rid of my BMPCC and just buy another GH4. Now, the new Micro Cinema Camera might be different. I hope so. Waiting to see some footage.
  14. Do you guys know of any EF lenses below 24mm that would be lightweight on the C100, for gimbal use? Preferably with continuous AF capabilities.
  15. Cool. If you have a portfolio then it makes sense to spend 50k on equipment to take your business to the next level. Otherwise I was going to say spend 10k and make a few good videos with rentals/actors, and use the other 40k to live on while you build your portfolio.
  16. You may not be able to quantify the 14 bit color, but you can definitely tell it looks better than a normal 8 bit source.
  17. True. If one is investing 50k to start a business then I doubt they'd want an NX1 to be their A cam. Of course it all depends on the type of work he'll be doing. Anything where time is money then the C100/300,FS7,Scarlets etc are a great option for an A cam.
  18. The first 20 minutes on Krypton were amazing. The rest of the movie crashed and burned with Superman landing on Earth.
  19. So far so good. I've only had it a few days. The main selling points to me were the Dual Pixel AF, low light, and ergonomics. The resolution and sharpness is a step back from the GH4, but it's okay I think for most stuff. Not to derail the thread but anything you want to see? I can post it in a new thread.
  20. Last night I was testing 20,000 ISO on the C100 and its so clean. Nearly film grain-esque. That on top of the Dual Pixel AF is making it my new favorite.
  21. This is interesting. A guy decided to grade Man Of Steel to brighter saturated colors (ala old Superman). What do you think?
  22. I buy custom PC's through a company in my area that offers 2 year support. Basically if anything goes wrong they fix it for free.
  23. One more suggestion. Canon is doing a 2 year 0% financing (I just took advantage of this). If he was looking to get a C300 or C100 he could put down half up front, and spend the rest on other gear. Pay off the remainder as jobs come in the next couple of years.
