It's ashame he won't go PC. I've been able to build systems with more power than a Mac Pro at half the cost. No problems at all either. If he does alot of music videos and commercials I would agree with FS7. I'm also intrigued by Arri's new line of LEDs. Fully dimmable with color controlled panels, and fresnels.

Magic Lantern now working on Canon 70D (both versions)
AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Awesome. I actually just got a C100 Mark II partly b/c of the Dual Pixel AF. I needed a camera that was "pick-up-and-go" with a good image for about half of the jobs that I do. The Dual Pixel AF is unbelievable! Good to see Magic Lantern working hand-in-hand with it. -
Sounds like you could create a winner here

Panasonic GH4 firmware update V2.2 due to be released April 22nd
AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
No way Panasonic would ever admit that it's crippling something intentionally. It has to be B.S. -
No offense to the YouTube author above, but why is Panasonic giving him a preview of LOG? The 2 videos that I saw from him were average to poor in quality.

Thanks. Im open to it looking funky and flaring. More resolution doesnt matter a whole lot to me.

Black Magic Ursa Mini: Why would anybody buy a canon c1,3, or 500???
AaronChicago replied to a topic in Cameras
Image-wise, the footage from the 4.6k Ursa that Captain Hook shot looks amazing. Second most organic looking picture to the Alexa IMO. I've owned 2 BM cams in the past are they were just a pain to use. Hopefully the Ursa mini makes for an easier workflow. -
Black Magic Ursa Mini: Why would anybody buy a canon c1,3, or 500???
AaronChicago replied to a topic in Cameras
Ease of use is highly under rated IMO. As much as a critic I am of Canons strategy and prices, its pretty damn nice to just pick up a camera and shoot for hours not worrying about assembly, batteries, rigs, monitors, attachments, etc. The new focus assist on C100 and 300 is very tempting. -
So is there no LUT out there for 5248?

I was looking around ebay. I was looking around ebay. Is this similar to the one you referenced? Just 2X instead of 1.9? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Isco-Anamorphic-Blue-Ultra-Star-2x-Cinemascope-Lens-TESTED-Panasonic-GH2-3-190-/221719961162?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item339f8a1e4a

Thanks. I shouldve mentioned I have F mount lenses that are 72-77mm threads. Is that a problem for anamorphic?
-
Exactly. I feel like Impulz is more of a starting point than a full look. I'll usually throw Impulz on an adjustment layer, on top. Then use Colorista to tweak each shot underneath.
-
Which version do you guys use the most? Elite Color 200 for me.
-
Question to you anamorphic pros here: What would be a nice/inexpensive starting point with an anamorphic lens? I own nikon mounts and GH4. I'm really wanting to try out the new anamorphic mode when the firmware is released.
-
I've been using these for a while as well, and love them.
-
Native from camera to JPEG. I believe GH4 is sRGB? 0-255.
-
I'm going to test it on a couple of more lighting scenarios and see if i can come up with a nice balance between pink and orange/yellow. It might make sense to go with a bit less saturated a dial it up when needed after the LUT.
-
Tweaked - less yellow/orange saturation in the mids.
-
I do like it. Less saturated. I was creating more of a stylized look that is less natural but wanted to maintain a good skintone color. Maybe I'll just bring down the yellow saturation in the midtones.

LG Digital Cinema Display Review - 4096 x 2160 IPS impresses!
AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
When I watch TV on a plasma it just reminds me more of a theater experience. LEDs/LCDs are great but I feel like I"m watching an iPad with brightness to 100%. Just a preference I guess. -
Hey all, I'm working on a LUT for 3200k and 4600k for Cinelike D on the GH4. I know it's a little late to the game since VLOG is around the corner, but I'm trying to focus on skin tones. Any comments on the skin tone of this shot? Too yellow, too red?

Plasma TVs rule. Bought the last model of Panasonics before the end. -
LG Digital Cinema Display Review - 4096 x 2160 IPS impresses!

If you view 1080 at native resolution it fills up about 1/4 of the screen, and is sharp as hell. Pretty much like looking at a retina display.
