  1. How are you guys using 50/60hz with Cinema 4k? I have to switch to 24hz for C4K to activate.
  2. Awesome job. How would you compare the F55 to the FS7?
  3. Yes, I'm also very excited to see what Panasonic has planned, and if any of the AF200 rumors are remotely true.
  4. If history repeats itself we'll all be amazed by the C300 II, and 6 months later a camera of equivalent specs and image will be released for $2,000 by another company.
  5. I used Slog3, but at 1080 180fps. Maybe the DR is way better at 24p, or 4k? The conditions were very contrasted. Black/White backgrounds with 1K Arri and KinoFlo fill. I rented it so I didn't have much time with it but I'd love to shoot again under more 'colorful' conditions. I loved everything about it except the frickin menus, and having to restart it constantly.
  6. Interesting. It says Sony FS7 has 14 stops. That's hard to believe. I just used it on a shoot with a GH4 (will post soon), and while grading, I honestly couldn't see that big difference in dynamic range. It was just real world testing and grading though. Nothing scientific.
  7. You're lucky. I couldn't even use raw on the BMPCC b/c the aliasing was absolutely horrendous. The grid pattern from flares totally ruined the ability to add that dynamic (which I love from time to time.) When conditions were right, the BMPCC Pro Res was beautiful though.
  8. Have you heard any credible "rumors" about the AF200 esque camera?
  9. I've never used it, but I thought the 4K photo mode used 4:3.
  10. AF200 is the only thing I can imagine wanting to see, but I'm sure there will be releases that we haven't conceived that will be interesting. I was a fan of my Blackmagic cam for awhile but had to dump b/c of the tedious add-ons. I found myself just picking up the GH4 90% of the time and it became my go-to camera. If Blackmagic creates a camera with a GH style battery that lasts at least 5 hours , better LCD , and way less moire , it might be worth checking out.
  11. Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but this GREAT.
  12. Skintone color perfection seems ridiculous to me anyway in regards to artistic filmmaking. Just watch any David Fincher, or Steven Soderbergh film and let me know how those skin tones look. Now the plastic look I can understand. Some cameras just have that effect, which is pretty unpleasant.
  13. Speaking of menus. I'd love to see a camera with basic controls on the sides (like the Alexa). WB, Shutter, Gain, Frame rate, Resolution. With a dedicated knob/screen for each one. Blackmagic comes pretty close inside their menus, but you still have to scroll through alot.
  14. The FS7 is almost the perfect sub-10k camera, but the menus are just plain awful. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when you're using the camera in a fast paced environment it eats up alot of time. I agree that you should wait a couple of more weeks and see what NAB brings (although it may be a few months till those announced cameras ship).
  15. LEGO was apprehensive about using the GH4 at first but ended up loving the look. We're in the process of a new video using the FS7 for 180fps slow mo.
  16. You can have a "top of the food chain" in a specs comparison, but if you're judging by beautiful images just look at the past 4 years of Best Cinematography Oscars. Hint: Arri Alexa.
  17. No need to in Premiere. Files are automatically converted to 32 bit float.
  18. I agree with you on the AC-7 monitors and lower. Those are pretty bad. The DP-7 OLEDs are really nice though. Great color and contrast. Scopes. LUTS. I love mine.
  19. Rent both of them for 2 days. Since it'll be a decent sized purchase it might be worth it.
