  1. Theres definitely something wrong. Mine doesn't do that. What camera are you using, and is everything set to manual?
  2. @Glenn it does all of what you mentioned. Again, you dove into it in one day. Of course you wont know all of the shortcuts.
  3. I also forgot, you negotiate points on each album/single sold. Usually 100 pts total divided up to label, artist, producer, mixer, etc.
  4. I've been out of the biz for 5 years but here's how it works when signing to a label. Negotiate signing bonus (which is recoupable by the label. Negotiate album deals. 1 is ideal. Most new artists with little leverage get 4 or 5. Negotiate publishing. Labels will try to get alot of this. 50/50 is pretty standard. You register all song writing credits with ASCAP or BMI. When a company wants to use your song, ASCAP or BMI destributes the funds appropriately. Another common deal with big artists now is a 360 deal where the label even gets a cut of the artists touring profits.
  5. @Andrew, Yeah I mean initial signing with the label. ASCAP and BMI deal with the publishing to companies. That would be a nightmare forGoogle to have to contact each artist.
  6. If an artist can end up owning their own publishing rights, then they're in a great position. If you get a song on TV you can really make good cash. Labels usually pressure new artists into signing over those publishing rights.
  7. The music biz sucks right. Not music, but the business. I used to be in a band signed under the wing of EMI, and learned quickly theres slim to none chances of making a good living.
  8. I used it today and like it. I wish they made a profile for Cinelike V low contrast.
  9. Na man. You're just not used to it. Tons of pros are switching to Premiere for fast turnaround. Integration with After Effects is amazing. Check out this timeline for an SNL edit done in one day.
  10. What does it look like after an H.264 render for online? I love adding a little bit of grain but usually Vimeo or YouTube encoders have a hard time with it.
  11. Fundamental, supplemental, totallymental...point is there are more than 2 ways to convey information in today's filmmaking.
  12. He wasn't saying an action sequence though, he said a "filmmaker has 2 tools to convey information."
  13. "When it comes down to it, a filmmaker has 2 tools to convey information visually: composition and cutting." What about color? That's one of the biggest conveyers of mood and information. Unless he's combining color into composition.
  14. I would go with the world version. The battery life is insane on this camera as it is. I wouldn't worry about a battery grip.
  15. You'll probably notice a difference when doing color/exposure manipulation, or keying.
  16. Check out the Lumu light meter attachment for iOS. http://lu.mu/ Very accurate.
  17. I've done head to head comparisons with filters vs magic bullet haze/diffusion. For lower filtration, filters look much better. Higher filtration, it doesnt matter so much. MB works fine for that.
  18. Yep, I used the BMPCC on everything except the blue room and slow mo. Thanks! The magenta flare was from the Sigma I believe b/c it occured with the GH4 as well. But that grid pattern was there for sure. I tried to use some noise reduction but it just made the whole image look to clean.
  19. Great test. Digital Diffusion FX 1 looks interesting. It doesn't give off too much of a glow like the others, yet softens the sharp image.
  20. Shot all of the Blue Room and Slow Mo with the GH4. Everything else with the BMPCC. Only lens that I used on this shoot was the Sigma 18-35 with the Metabones Speedbooster.
  21. Just finished this music video using the GH4 and BMPCC.
  22. Well, it's a Blackmagic thread. He mentioned it in the GH4 review too which is MFT. Brian from Metabones said it's going to be released any day now so it makes sense. Who knows though....
  23. I'm having some issues when I go to export a project mixing Blackmagic ProRes 1080 files with GH4 4K downscaled clips. When I got to export in Premiere (or Adobe Media Encoder) it always freezes at the point where 4K files appear. I've tried scaling 50%, and I've tried "fit to frame size". No luck. My computer is pretty new and loaded so I doubt its a computer issue. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. Adobe doesn't seem to be aware of an issue.
