  1. You guys' are on point with what I was thinking as well. No internal 4k is a bummer. Depending on the price it might be a good alternative option though for certain shots in low light.
  2. This is why I'm confused. There are separate fps settings than hz. Why wouldn't a monitor be able to display in 24hz?
  3. I'm confused as to what 24 hz does exactly also. I know that you have to activate it to use C4K. I've emailed SmallHD to ask if they know. Everything works fine with UHD at 24p 60 hz.
  4. Hey Julian, did you try using the GH4 in 24 Hz with an external monitor. I'm using a DP7 and it will not display while in 24hz which means I'm out of luck for DCI 4K with the monitor. Wondering if it's a monitor issue, or camera issue.
  5. One question: Would 24hz create a smoother looking 24p as opposed to 60hz? GH4 gives that option.
  6. After spending a couple of days with the GH4 I can say that it's now going to be my "go-to" camera over Blackmagic. There might be a tad bit more highlight room with ProRes but it's a dip I'm willing to take for better resolution, insane battery life, flip out OLED, and HFR. I have a 128GB card coming in Friday that I will test, but so far Sandisk Extreme 95's are working great, as well as 45's.
  7. Still using that tiny sensor though.
  8. So is it better to set the GH4 to 16-235 from the start. Or shoot 16-255 and bring down to 235 in post?
  9. I just sold my GH3  It could be placebo effect, but to the naked eye it seems like a more pleasing motion.
  10. I got mine yesterday. The one thing that is very pleasing and unexpected is the motion cadence. I love the way Blackmagic cadence looks, and GH3 was a little choppy. From what I've noticed so far with the GH4 it's more along the lines of Blackmagic cadence.
  11. That was one of my main reasons to always pick up the GH3 for a long handheld shoot. The battery life is insane. A full day on a half battery.
  12. Same ones that I use with my blackmagic and GH3. Sigma 18-35, panasonic 12-35, rokinon 16, and rokinon 85.
  13. They changed their site to say IN STOCk as well. Hmmmm. I hope others are not far behind. Even beginning of May would be awesome. http://www.samys.com/p/Panasonic/DMCGH4KBODY/LUMIX-DMC-GH4-Mirrorless-Micro-Four-Thirds-Digital-Camera-Body-Black/143526.html
  14. Apparently Samys in California is picking up a shipment of GH4's today.
  15. This is the best 96fps I've seen so far on GH4. I was starting to lose hope!
  16. What about the LCD? That was one of my biggest complaints with GH3 was how bad the color shifted when rotating.
  17. I personally love those lenses. Just make sure to get the set with 16mm instead of 14mm. The 14 is the black sheep of the group.
  18. Nice. I actually prefer Super 35 look over full frame. This camera is getting more tempting.
  19. I disagree that BMD has abandonded the indie filmmaker. They're just offering a wider selection. Nowhere have they said that they're giving up on the smaller cams. Firmware updates could be coming, but at the end of the day I would gladly paid $1000 for the pocket cam even if there were guaranteed no firmware updates.
  20. Image is sexy. Price is great. Still going to stick with the GH4 though.
  21. Try Filmconvert. They match most DSLR camera profiles to actual film stocks. It's the most realistic option available in my opinion.
  22. Looks good. I've recently started using a RED Gamma 3 LUT with Blackmagic footage after accidentally loading it into my DP7 monitor. I wonder how it would look with the GH4 footage. I'll find out! EDIT: Not bad!
  23. Wouldn't there be a loss in quality with the Pocket cam? If it is upscaled to 4K then it's going to look pretty soft. Maybe I'm not understanding the process, but I'd like to see a native 1080 frame from the Pocket compared to a 4K downscaled to 1080 GH4 frame.
