Yep. Mattebox works but I dont know of any other solutions. I just saw a photo of the 16mm and it has a filter thread.

I'm interested in this. I love the 35 and 85, but the 14 was really bad in my opinion. Plus I hated how it didn't have a filter thread.

Here are the ungraded files of "Auckland" courtesy of CaptainHook. These shots have tripod plus movement. https://www.copy.com/s/bHQjkpc21Q1d/Pocket%20Cam%20-%20Originals

I'm sure most people will be happy to know that a tripod was used on this batch.

AaronChicago replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Re: 10 bit. Doesn't the Pocket Camera record 10 bit 4:2:2 Pro Res to the SD card? -
Sounds like B&H heard some news: https://twitter.com/h_posner/status/359785407564627968 "Hopeful @Blackmagic_News news. Not certain but hopeful the Pocket Cinema Camera here 2nd week of Aug & 4K Camera here 1st wk of Sept."

Biggest European dealer CVP 'in the dark' over new Blackmagic cameras

It doesnt have to be one of two, i'm just posing a question to determine peoples tolerance. -

Here's a question for everyone. Would you rather: A. Blackmagic to never have created a camera? B. Blackmagic create cameras, but consistently late in delivering? -
12-35mm zoom vs 25mm prime. Which has better image quality?
AaronChicago replied to acuriousman's topic in Cameras
I shot with the 12-35mm for the first time this week, and I did some A/B ing against SLR Magic 12mm, and Rokinon 35mm. The 12-35 was actually sharper that both. Although I preferred the images from the 2 primes. They just had a different look about them. The 12-35 was a little sterile for some reason. However it is an awesome "all around" lens. Super sharp, image stabilization, and nice zoom range. -

I noticed that B&H changed the status from "Expected Availability: July 25" to "New Item, available for pre-order". -
Isn't it a 3.5-4.5 lens? I'm sure it's nice, but if he's looking for a fast cine prime, it's a whole different beast. The T1.5 on GH3 comes in very handy. If I were shooting on full frame then I'd totally be comfortable with 3.5-4.5.

No doubt prices will drop, but I don't think $2300 is unreasonable. Good tripods, sliders, jibs cost as much or more. There are alot of precision technical components working in these things. I got to play with the Movi at Alex Buonos workshop and it's pretty impressive. He said that when they demo'd it to JJ Abrams, he had an intern try and recreate a shot from Star Trek that took an hour to set up and maneuver. The kid picked up the Movi and nailed it in one try.

I agree with you about the Canon colors. Of course colors can be manipulated in post, but straight out of the camera the colors are very nice on Canon cameras. It's just a shame they have such mushy resolution. I don't understand why they can't fix this.

The Defy 3 axis gimbal is up for preorder next week: http://relentless.tv/blog/relentless-launches-product-defy-g2/ $2300

It's not really a DSLR but Blackmagic Pocket Camera is 10 bit recorded to SD card, right?
-
Make sure to use a lens with Image Stabilization if you're going handheld. Otherwise it will looks a total mess, like what you described with the wobbling. If you're using prime lenses with a tripod or shoulder rig then you should be fine. I agree though: the jittering and wobbling of DSLR is an instant turn off.

Thanks. I looked at a few stills from Modern Family as a reference for lighting and color. In hindsight, I wish I had brought down the yellow saturation a bit. Anyway I'm loving the GH3!

Because the Rokinon is probably manual?
