Who exactly is this camera made for? One thing for sure though, the image quality is superb and I'm glad Canon made it. I just don't see the market demanding many of these from a cost/form factor perspective.

Will we see a new professional Panasonic GH-series camera at NAB?

My hacked GH2 is still very competitive with everything out there, so I'm holding out awhile longer. I have a feeling the wait will be worth it! -
Blog Comments - 3D a proven failure, 4K unlikely to succeed - HBO
johnnymossville replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
4k at home would look different than 1080 mostly if you're watching a 60" or larger display. At most viewing distances they don't look that different. color, motion and sound would be a bigger factor in viewing pleasure than the increased resolution is. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want it if the cost was equal to 1080 though. As for 3D, I'm not a fan at all. It adds nothing in a good way to the experience for me. -
'New' Canon SL1 / 100D and T5i / 700D fail to excite

Something about this camera tastes like yesterday's leftovers reheated in the microwave. I'll pass. -
Sounds like a marketing/sales exercise gone bad. Though I don't agree with some of the things companies do I can understand why they do what they do. Thankfully we live in a day and age where there are people willing to expose things and there are people curious enough to find the information, by way of the internet.

By any chance can this film be watched in a non 3D version? -
4K, 48p HFR and the challenge for set designers and makeup artists

movies based on reality set in real environments will have none of these problems. Maybe we should start getting back to telling great stories instead of making all these expensive blockbusters that stretch and contort reality in so many ways. -
48p The Hobbit - British and American critics verdict

1970's Dr Who. It's entertaining, but yeah, it looks like an old tv rerun. We'll probably get used to it. -
Thanks Andrew for doing this. Best insight into the GH3 I've seen so far. Sitting there on the table next to the 5DMIII it looks great! Hope they can fix the moire "problem", the GH2 handles moire very well.
Stoked about 4:2:2 hdmi possibly, and a Log type PIcture style perhaps? I'm hearing no... On the other hand, I find it hilarious that the camera hasn't even been officially announced 24 hours, and there's already a cat video up.
It hasn't arrived until the skateboarder video goes up. ;-)

Genesis - is this the Reverie moment for the GH3?

The skintones looked fine to me. Ever ride a subway and look at your fellow passengers? -
Genesis - is this the Reverie moment for the GH3?

By the way, Nice film Philip. Well Done. I'm glad you guys pushed the camera in very harsh conditions, night-time, sky shots, fast motion etc,... It looks like a good overall test of the camera's capabilities. -
Genesis - is this the Reverie moment for the GH3?

It looks like Panasonic really listened and made the GH3 a great tool for cinema shooters. The GH2 was already great and I'm keeping mine, but will definitely be finding room for a GH3! and a few more lenses. What I'm really looking forward to is side by side tests to the hacked GH2. Along with the list of improvements we've seen in the specs already, If Panasonic somehow managed to top or even equal the resolution of the hacked GH2, they've got a winner. -
F was the standout for me because of it's dynamic range, color and overall quality. I chose B second best because I just loved the way the scene looked color wise and the way it was lit. A was my third choice. Not as impressive as F and B for me, especially the color, but still very pleasing. C was next and overall just super nice, but not a standout. H was next because it was so clean,.... the rest,... just didn't standout but were still totally useable. Only D and G were crap and I wouldn't want to be hamstrung with those.
