1. I worked with Carson Clay on Playback Time, but didn't make it into the credits.  In fact, Carson Clay was the only name in the credits.   Look it up on Youtube, it's a classic.
2.   ...which in the case of this story, the camera made the movie look like it could have been shot on equipment almost none of us could afford on our own.   If this movie was shot on an iPhone it would probably still work to a certain extent, but it wouldn't have looked anywhere near as good.
3. It's playing in my town now through next week. I'm really looking forward to catching it on the big screen.  From what I've read I think it's going to be a real treat.  The GH2 part is cool too!
4. Who exactly is this camera made for? One thing for sure though, the image quality is superb and I'm glad Canon made it.   I just don't see the market demanding many of these from a cost/form factor perspective.
5.   While shooting a live event with manual lenses in very low light conditions it would be nice to have as a backup focusing option.
6. I suppose Panasonic is being very careful in who it's marketing this camera to in an attempt to not steal too many sales from potential GH3 customers.   I know I would if I was them.   The multi-aspect sensor capabilities of the GH2 would have been great for this camera, but not great for GH3 sales.
7. Focus peaking!   If this ends up hacked and looking like the GH2 I might pick one of these up!
8. My hacked GH2 is still very competitive with everything out there, so I'm holding out awhile longer.  I have a feeling the wait will be worth it!
9. 4k at home would look different than 1080 mostly if you're watching a 60" or larger display.  At most viewing distances they don't look that different.  color, motion and sound would be a bigger factor in viewing pleasure than the increased resolution is.  That doesn't mean I wouldn't want it if the cost was equal to 1080 though.    As for 3D, I'm not a fan at all.  It adds nothing in a good way to the experience for me.
10. Something about this camera tastes like yesterday's leftovers reheated in the microwave.   I'll pass.
11. Sounds like a marketing/sales exercise gone bad.   Though I don't agree with some of the things companies do I can understand why they do what they do.    Thankfully we live in a day and age where there are people willing to expose things and there are people curious enough to find the information, by way of the internet.
12. I like how it follows the basic design of the cameras used on the Apollo Missions.  Pretty cool.
13. By any chance can this film be watched in a non 3D version?
14. movies based on reality set in real environments will have none of these problems.  Maybe we should start getting back to telling great stories instead of making all these expensive blockbusters that stretch and contort reality in so many ways.
15. 1970's Dr Who.       It's entertaining, but yeah, it looks like an old tv rerun.   We'll probably get used to it.
16. if the video quality stands up to leica standards, this could definitely be a valuable tool for photo journalists. small form factor, rugged and professional results.
17. Thanks Andrew for doing this. Best insight into the GH3 I've seen so far. Sitting there on the table next to the 5DMIII it looks great! Hope they can fix the moire "problem", the GH2 handles moire very well.
18.
Stoked about 4:2:2 hdmi possibly, and a Log type PIcture style perhaps? I'm hearing no... On the other hand, I find it hilarious that the camera hasn't even been officially announced 24 hours, and there's already a cat video up.
It hasn't arrived until the skateboarder video goes up. ;-)
19. The skintones looked fine to me. Ever ride a subway and look at your fellow passengers?
20. By the way, Nice film Philip. Well Done. I'm glad you guys pushed the camera in very harsh conditions, night-time, sky shots, fast motion etc,... It looks like a good overall test of the camera's capabilities.
21. It looks like Panasonic really listened and made the GH3 a great tool for cinema shooters. The GH2 was already great and I'm keeping mine, but will definitely be finding room for a GH3! and a few more lenses. What I'm really looking forward to is side by side tests to the hacked GH2. Along with the list of improvements we've seen in the specs already, If Panasonic somehow managed to top or even equal the resolution of the hacked GH2, they've got a winner.
22. I've used a hacked gh2 for paying gigs and never had an issue. I have had a few issues while testing various hacks, but I stay away from those when I take the camera on a paid project.
23.
... And for the Canon 7d ... there was no doubt it was G! Worst resolution of them all!
yes, G was a standout for how shockingly bad it was.
24. F was the standout for me because of it's dynamic range, color and overall quality. I chose B second best because I just loved the way the scene looked color wise and the way it was lit. A was my third choice. Not as impressive as F and B for me, especially the color, but still very pleasing. C was next and overall just super nice, but not a standout. H was next because it was so clean,.... the rest,... just didn't standout but were still totally useable. Only D and G were crap and I wouldn't want to be hamstrung with those.
