If it's even better than the 25mm F/1.4 Panaleica lens I just might go for it after all. All indicators say it probably is. I rented the 25mm a couple weeks ago for a video shoot and I was VERY happy with it. Digging the swirly bokeh I got here.

The one video I've seen comparing the two side by side show very similar DR.

I'm not taking anything away from the A7S. I think it's ground breaking in low light. but I'm seeing a lot of footage where a fast lens on a lesser camera can get pretty much the same shot, with a bit more noise of course. For inside shots we have things called lights. Still, it's a great cam, I get it. All things considered, the big drawback is no internal 4k. Sony will probably bring it next year, and if I get an A7S now I'll be laying out another $2500 next year for that model. 4K ready just isn't 4k now is it?

a stabilized prime like the nocticron with that speed would be an amazing thing indeed. I wish they'd do a new 25mm f/1.4 this way as well.

Hi Andrgl, dunno where you got that info, but looking at 4k files on my computer they are definitely not 1080. There really is 8.8megapixels of information there,.. or very darn close to it.

30P for this Perplex. I did this will the GH4, but the videographer I was working with for the wedding uses Canon and wanted to shoot all 30P, so I decided to go with 30p here to match him. Generally I like 24p better, but you know how it goes. Compromises.

They've gotta look beyond the mirror if they want a proper cinema-style hybrid shooter. Optical Viewfinder? For stills, I will not argue. Nikon is great there.

not a huge fan of the video, but,... the work involved was impressive and the song itself is pretty good.

I've been looking for something similar as well. I'd really like a tripod small/light that's easy to set up and tear down, to match the stealth factor of my GH4.

4K when edited in 1080 has so many uses I don't think I could go back. Here's an example of a video I did last week. Shot and edited in one day. No color correction, to be viewed at the wedding. There are many shots where I cropped into a 4k image and it gave me a two camera shoot look without doing a darn thing. The chase around the tree scene for example here.

Having same profiles as GH4 would make this a great B cam to the GH4. I like it, especially with that huge zoom range.

I could see this camera building quite a niche for itself for just it's insane low light capabilities. it really does turn night into day.

There's gotta be a floyd steinberg dithering plugin out there somewhere right? I used to use it all the time back in the day of 256 color computers and my Amiga days.

Nice to see the BBC making a wise choice for it's drone duties. They should consider a GH4 now.

@pablogrolian 1. I think the rep was actually quite honest in his assessments for being a company man. 2. slo-mo has obvious uses. I think showing the baby video was a nice touch. you have to realize not everyone buys cameras to shoot movies, weddings, or corporate videos. 3. They said "As of now" as far as the brick, and they were right. I agree with you that they should have mentioned the Shogun. Overall, I enjoyed the camera getting some B&H love. At least in the USA, they are a major player in cameras and putting something other than a canon or nikon in front of the people for a few hours is nice.

You can do something about sharpness in post, a mushy soft image will always be a mushy soft image. Try sharpening it in post and it gets funky. GH4 is leaps and bounds ahead of the 5DMIII at this point in every usable way except extreme low light. Canon's turn to do something interesting for video in DSLR's.

To me the film did a relatively good job of looking like something from the 1970's. It was funny. I just shot with my new GH4 all day on Saturday and it's going to take some time for me to dial in the look I want with this camera. It's a fairly complicated beast with a lot of things to work through, compare the various modes/settings and play with in grading before I feel totally comfortable with it. I got some good footage, but I also got some crap footage. It's a learning process and I think this camera is going to reward diligence. That said, this camera in the right hands can and will do some pretty amazing things. In the end it's about the guy running the camera making the right decisions, and not the camera. This camera doesn't really put much of a limit on the user. It's a step ahead of every other DSLR out there right now and maybe even some dedicated video cameras costing 5x more. Oh, and the stills capability of this camera is the best I've seen yet from a Panasonic. The images are very pleasing.
