  1. They still have three registered but unannounced camera. One of them is probably a fixed lens. One of the remaining two can be S1Hii.
  2. The fact that we're comparing Nikon, which until four years ago was called "potato" in videographers community, with Panasonic, which was making pro video cameras when my mother was a young girl, and score points are about "anamorphic modes", is crazy if you think about that. Anyway, feature leapfrogging is a never ending game. You get a capability in brand X that is missing in brand Y, but you get something unique in brand Y that is still missing in X. After two years, both will have them eventually with some differences in implementation. Decisions, in my opinion, should be based on "system advantages", not feature set. I love to have eye control AF in Canon cameras, but RF system is the most restrictive, while the native lens choices is like super cheap/super exotic. But some people would say they have 50% of the market share so there should be good reasons half of people bet on this system, and its ok. I don't think thats a good logic for choosing a system, but at least its an evaluation about the system, not the features.
  3. Here is the list of compatible lenses
  4. Shoten has its own. This Japanese guy tested it on Zf. From 3:30 https://youtu.be/xuCYrLGN0Rk
  5. Yea, they like it. Despite the visibility of RS in their sample shot where the columns can't stay vertical for a second; and their readout speed measurements that says anything above 30fps is doing some sort of pixel binning.
  6. Why should it be a issue if you shoot raw? If its raw, the data is there.
  7. A Chinese youtuber said that nraw in redcine-x with red log applied shows more room for highlight recovery, if I understood correctly (it also doesn't have the blue clipping issue thats is still unaddressed in resolve). But at the moment redcine-x doesn't support lens correction for nraw.
  8. Just keep in mind to get "cool" cfexpress cards. Z8 has no serious overheating issue, unless you put a card that consumes a lot of power. There is huge gap in efficiency between some of these cards that nobody talks about (one of the reasons a reviewer says I got 1 hour and another says only 20 minutes). Angelbird CFe v4 1TB is rated 3.75w, but v2 that is slower is rated 2.4w. v4 sustained write speed is 2100MB/s (insane in such a small package) and v2 is 1300MB/s, meaning you get 60% higher speed for 56% more power consumption, which I don't think a good tradeoff, considering 1300MB/s is already fast enough, and I dont think you take too much 8k60p shots at highest bitrate.
  9. I love that their positivity/negativity is relative. An exact same feature in brand X that they called "game changer", they call it "good to have" in brand Y, even if the release date between the two is just 3 months. A cripple hammer limitation in brand X is "unfortunate" and the same thing in brand Y is like "if its important for you maybe this camera is not for you".
  10. Ditto Canon, Sony, Nikon. All of them have things coming down the pipeline. Imagine the upcoming R6iii, or A7rVI or A7V, or Z8ii with RED goodies. The point is there is no point for the distant 4th in the market, that doesn't even enjoy the luxury of userbase from DSLR era, to make Canikony clones, AND with sensor caveats, since it doesn't have access to latest and greatest from Sony Semi for some reason, AND couple it with an ancient CPU that make the active cooling system looks like a band aid solution, to market it as a "close enough to competition but cheaper" solution. All the criticism I see on the internet is about their business startegy. Nobody says you can't use this particular camera in Iceland to take landscape shots.
  11. Can be a good test for CIA recruitment. Look at the chart for only 8 seconds and close your eyes and anwser the question "in which modes 60p 4:2:2 is available?".
  12. They need to move more towards still for having a dedicated R. 1.5 seconds of buffer and more than 20 seconds to clear doesn't look good in that camp
  13. Regarding the flickering issue: https://youtu.be/97RscAXJfYE
  14. As I predicted, its CPU must be ancient. But maybe the number of masked AF pixels is lower than Sony/Nikon so line skipping reduces the phase data to the point that is practically useless.
  15. None of them equipped with active cooling system, including Z8, that in 8k30 h.265 mode you run out of battery sooner than overheat icon appears.
  16. Other than shutter angle, zebra pattern color, and high res zoom in DX (up to 1080p120), the collaboration of power zoom and high res zoom is also introduced. It can be enabled in two mode: Also you can set two different speeds for power zoom lens for when you're recording and when you're not recording:
  17. In the new firmware update they claim noise in NLOG is reduced. I wonder its an error fix in the pipeline or just a subtle NR applied.
  18. In cvp video the RS was noticeable even on the face of the guy when they were trying to test the AF. Its not just "ok I don't pan and tilt like a maniac". With such a slow sensor you should also worry about the movements of the subjects.
  19. So they postponed the 8k opengate as a future firmware update to escape the bad press it could generate, since if enabled today it would work for like 5 minutes outdoor.
  20. Overheating with active cooling system is a milestone. 37 milliseconds RS is another.
  21. Press release is already leaked. These two features are new: - A first for LUMIX cameras, it is capable of 8K video recording with a 14-level tone range - Advanced video stabilization corrects EIS distortion without cropping, reducing peripheral distortion while preserving the original angle of view.
  22. What an ergonomics nightmare. Unless you want it on tripod all the time, then its a fixed display and not high res enough for landscape. Quoting Kasey: "what are you doing?".
  23. "it cuts out everything that distracts, limits, or stifle creativity". I didn't know a grip that helps me hold the damn thing distracts my creativity.
