Whats the point of wider profile when read out is still done at 12bit?

They can increase the resolution of Z7 to something like 90MP. But very few people need or want that resolution. Its good for two weeks of frenzy press-review YouTube videos with 😱 thumbnails, but I doubt it sells well long term.

I hope Nikon doesn't use cripple hammer of its own on this one A fast non stacked 6k sensor that doesn't show noise downsides of stacked, plus internal raw, with Zf IBIS, and Z8 AF, in a semi pro body, will be dream camera for many who can't afford $4k-6k flagships. Actually you can have two of this with the price of one Z9, if you don't need 8k.

The problem with IBIS is they're made for still as a priority. Nikon optical VR+IBIS is so good in still shooting that looks like cheating. But video, especially walking situation, is totally different story.

There are some physics involved about how shorter it can be. Most flash brands don't even report t0.1 number in their spec sheet, they know it doesn't look good.

How they're supposed to shoot a PR video with a camera that is not in production yet?

As a Nikon user you really need to follow these two men on YouTube: Hudson Henry and Steve Perry. They're wildlife photographers 99% of the time, and don't shoot video a lot, but they have a tone of info to offer about how your camera works.

ISO 12800 images looks like shot by a 50mp sensor, not a 24mp one. However these are still raws. Noise impact in video will be worse due to heat.

The shutter speed in that shot is very high. Lets say you need 1/8000s to freeze such a movement. Even at 120 fps, you get only 120/8000 of a second, or 1/60 of a second. For 59/60 of a second, your camera is blind. Still its YOU that should know when to press the shutter button.

I think newer AI tech is adding stuff to the data. Its like tracing the moving part, and "guess" how it would look like if it weren't where it is.

Whats the "real" benefit for cinematography? With conventional stacked sensor, there is no distortion even in wild panning, like Venice 2 with its 3ms read out speed. Alexa35 has "useable" 15 stop of DR. Thats where DPs see the benefit.

If its noticeable its not slight. Again, its new for us, but its not new in CMOS sensor industry. Global shutter is usually capped at almost 12 stop DR. With smaller pixel will be even worse. Even Chinese are making them. But the question is why they didn't use the hybrid solution that a single sensor can use both rolling shutter for maximum quality, and global shutter for speed. They have lots of patents for that solution.

Famous Sony footnotes kicks again: Sync speed with "External" flash is 1/500. With base ISO of 250, its the same as 1/200 with ISO 100.

Making a CPU with state of the art node doesn't make a PR fenzy, "World's first" in sensor tech, does. They really really want to show they're leader in sensor tech, all else is secondary.
