Actually the GH5s had issues because Panasonic couldn't push the full VLog on it, it's highest VFR wasn't exploited, and a few other compromises. The issues is not so much with the sensors as with how it's being programmed (and what levels the dual gain is also set at, among a host of other things). Also, the BMPCC 4k and 6k are within 0.2 stops of each other, in terms of base Dynamic Range, and the 4k has much better Dynamic Range at higher ISOs. If this sensor is programmed and wired properly, it should theoretically outperform the Pocket 4k, which is very impressive, to say the least. Let's hope Panasonic don't even think of VLog L. Or some other rubbish. Also, we should, hopefully get 4k at atleast 120fps (240fps, if possible), and the 2nd ISO should be set at $6400, so that it can be pushed for even better low light. Would actually love dual Canon and Alexa's dual gain, but it may be too late to incorporate it into the ADC.

Hope you review is out soon. Looking forward to it. You could release it in installments, starting with initial reviews. Review. And then after perhaps a year.

Yes. Difficult to probably toggle between the themes, on a phone. Plus if the text font were white or much lighter than it currently is, it would be easier to read. I am.almost typing this blind. Please excuse the typos

The GH5 seems to also exhibit very little moire and false colour aliasing artefacts. I compared it to the XT3 and A7iii too (in 1080p).

The top 20 most popular cameras of all time on the EOSHD Forum

The GX85 is really a superb camera. Panasonic should have just thrown in a mic jack. Interestingly the OM1D Mark ii has better low light capabilities, for slightly lower dynamic range at the lowest ISO. Panasonic didn't set the ISO levels well for the GH5. Plus, obviously the fact that it lacks Dual ISO. The BMD cameras are great for what they do. Only if they could be slightly more reliable and usable, out of the box. The lack of IBIS and good autofocus could easily be forgiven for them. -
The M43rumors guy was specifically asked to remove the leaked photo, which means there is something to the rumour. And now this https://photorumors.com/2020/09/25/new-panasonic-dc-bgh1-camera-registered-in-russia/ The next GH camera may gave a larger body and perform some great cinematic tricks, it appears? I hope the larger battery is used for Dual Gain processing.

It was similar. Better design, but similar in some ways. Maybe closer to the Canon 70

Suddenly the Canon C70 makes one imagine whether Panasonic should feature their next M43 with a dual gain sensor, to ensure greater dynamic range. Also, dual mini xlr, internal ND, among other features would be a great feature set. I find no reason why the next GH can be a cinematic powerhouse.

The S1H and S5 have been programmed differently. The S1H sacrifices rolling shutter 24.2 [ms] for dynamic range (in 4k). Whereas the S1 seems to sacrifice some dynamic range for better rolling shutter 21 [ms]. I also believe there must be Atleast 0.5 stops of dynamic range as a margin of error (upto 3 stops, it you see their A7sii tests). So, the difference, if any, is actually pretty minor. What seems seriously impressive, in their tests, is exposure latitude.
-
What is the exposing to the right, by so many stops supposed to imply? The A7siii has such strong NR algorithms that the image looks 1080p at best, or 720p.

Could you share the source for this? Also, is it a hardware or software restriction. Absolutely right. Japan has very strict retrenchment laws, unlike many parts of the world, where you go for lunch, and you're fired before your return. In Japan, apparently, employers can be expected fo pay what seems reasonable, and 6-9 months are often seen as reasonable. The issue is also non existence of exact rules and judgments, most of which are in favour of employees. Which is great to be honest. Company CEOs, MDs etc have way greater responsibilities, especially considering they earn as much as hundreds, and sometimes thousands of workers. Plus, they get some serious severance packages, whenever they exit. Maybe they could consider down scaling people salaries across the board, starting with the top management. Smartphones have shown that camera companies (ILC makers in particular) are innovating at a much slower pace than people want, and that products should be made with greater awareness of customers.

IMHO the problem is that Sony isn't using specialised image sensors for this, and trying to expect cinema quality video from it. They should have used 1/1.33 sensors with a 12MP sensor count on this, and much better HDR algorithms. All the sensors should have been the same or similar sized, to ensure similar dynamic range and processing. So much great software limited by the hardware. They should have aimed to beat the iPhone 11 at dynamic range and image quality, and by a noticeable margin. This doesn't beat that, or come close.
-
I doubt it's there. I am surprised more people didn't make a big deal about missing it on the A7c.
-
It's looking pretty promising. I am also suddenly curious, as to why GoPro didn't use its market dominance to have custom image sensors.
-
Fair enough. I guess a lot of us were on the fence, wrt assuming whether the GH6 was coming or not. Panasonic could solely be blamed, due to the deafening silence, and pushing 4 Full Frame models, without a word on the GH6. Now that they have said, categorically, that the GH6 is definitely not abandoned, we should convince ourselves to believe them. Even if Olympus wasn't as believable. Maybe the GH6 will usher in the next generation of autofocus, that Panasonic so badly needs. Along with a few other features.
-
If the GH6 hasn't been released (or even officially announced), how can anyone be wrong or right about the GH6? Genuinely curious.
-
Yes. Also, I think it may also have to do with bandwidth. If it can shoot at 60fps for photo bursts, I am sure it is capable of 60p for video. I also feel, the 10-bit internal video and 9ther video features appear like some Sony licence agreement restrictions. Maybe the ProRes RAW is the simplest way to circumvent this licence agreement restriction.
-
I hope so too. That would actually be great.

"Olympus announces new firmware development to allow RAW video on the E-M1X and E-M1III." I couldn't believe what I saw. Olympus doesn't have 10-bit internal, and yet they jump to ProRed RAW via HDMI directly? Wow. Seems almost surrealistic. Now sure how most people would see this as something huge. Hopefully Olympus camera prices crash some more, before the RAW is released. https://www.43rumors.com/olympus-announces-new-firmware-development-to-allow-raw-video-on-the-e-m1x-and-e-m1iii/#disqus_thread

Hahaha. It's probably just bad translation from Japanese to English. The message is probably lost in translation
