  1. I read the article in German. He's just compiled the rumors it appears. And I am not sure what publication it appears for, either. Plus its dated the 27th of July, so not really a press release, even remotely. I am not sure the Ninja can do over 12bit RAW. Or ProRes either. I am also guessing the missing Cinetone may be due to the fact that the author's guesses aren't as accurate.
  2. Maybe not right now. ProRes RAW seems limited to 12-bit, but maybe they move to 14-bit and 16-bit. Btw this is not an official press release. Its some magazine piece. So not sure this is 100% correct.
  3. After Panasonic (Mark Frazer and the other guy), Spny seems to be the 9ther manufacturer to make fun of Canon's overheating circus. "4K with 120p One focus of the camera is video recording. Unlike Canon with the EOS R5, Sony does not use 8K for video, but continues to use 4K, which is said to achieve the best results so far with an alpha camera. The sensor’s 12 MP resolution enables a full-pixel readout without pixel binning and without crop up to 4K / 60p. In this setting, the recording limit should be one hour without overheating – the EOS R5 only manages 30 minutes at 4K / 60p. The video recording of the Alpha 7S III in 4K / 120p mode is limited to this length – by the way, a slight crop is used (1.1x).SonyAlphaRumors." Visit Sonyalpharumors.com
  4. Ok. That would be interesting. Maybe a comparison with internal and over wireless.
  5. But that may also lower the quality and but depth of the audio(?). Plus RF interferences, transmission drops and other issues. Since the recorder is a good quality backup and the one transmitted is more of a reference sound.
  6. Please don't keep saying that. It seems almost articulated to suggest that the non 8k or non HQ modes have no issues with heat management. Which is patently false. The camera heats up, when switched on, regardless of whether you shoot 8k, 4k or HQ, or just shoot photos or don't even shoot anything on it. That's also what Gerald Undone corroborates. Claiming it to be untrue or saying it can be fixed by firmware, or hoping for a miracle that Canon installs a micro aircon inside the camera is just ludicrous. The majority of the people here are or have been Panasonic and M43 users. But when Panasonic created that VLogging G100, it was called out, for the absolute rubbish that it is. Except for the audio, which they've gotten from Nokia, it doesn't have much else going for it. To say that camera is going to become perfect for VLogging with a Firmware update is beyond ignorant. You reaction means you're way more devastated than the entire Canon design team, and many people whose heads are going to be rolling soon. There are no perfect cameras. And the A7siii is also releasing tomorrow. So you have both the choice of an apparently good video shooter releasing tomorrow, and the worldly wisdom of knowing that that too, like every camera before it, won't be perfect.
  7. The Behiri video on C5D said that he only switched on the camera with a monitor attached. And that caused severe overheating. Which means that merely switching on the camera causes it to start heating up. Which is completely contrary to random claims that it can shoot Regular 4k at 24p unlimited or some other BS. As long as the camera is on, it is overheating.
  8. Couldn't agree more. PDAF can give Panasonic even better autofocus (on par with Canon and Sony). 24MP MAR Sensor for GH6, and an even larger sensor 12MP for GH6s (than the GH5s).
  9. It's all in the head. One of the issues that M43 must sort is the pipeline. It should either be 14-bit, or better still, 16-bit. It may help with the whole highlight rolloff (apart from reworking the algorithms and changing rhe VLog to the full version). They have way better rolling shutter, way better battery life, and generally much higher reliability. And frame rates could be pushed, even beyond what the GH5s and XT4 do (they do 1080p at 240fps). Most people agree that PDAF is the biggest shortcoming right now. In pretty much everything in Mirrorless, M43 has been the pioneer.
  10. Yes, that also could be a huge factor. It seemed that was with the lensrental glange distance consistency measurements. In which even cinema cameras (not Mirrorless ILCs), were terribly inconsistent, across the same camera lineup too.
  11. Whoa. That's probably the most controversial remark yet. You could be right, though. A few changes to the GH5 and GH5s, starting with PDAF, and everyone would rush to Panasonic.
  12. I thought the cineform codec on the GoPros was like 12-bit in an 8-bit or 10-bit wrapper. That's why the ability to push it is pretty amazing. Was this photo a screengrab or a screenshot of a photo you took with the camera (12MP RAW or JPEG pic)? I mildly edited the photo and saw that it had way more detail that is seen without editing it.
  13. Yes, it would. And it would mostly likely flame the Ninja too (pun intended).
  14. I tried to edit my comment, but some glitch happened and it didn't allow me to post it. Gerald clarifies that his 3 hours comment is just rubbish. His camera shut down after 1 hour and 14 mins, even though he wasn't recording anything. https://twitter.com/GeraldUndone/status/1286422353107464192 Also the quality different between regular 4k and HQ is Enormous.
  15. I am not sure the battery would last for 3 hours. It appears that most of the issue have to do with the processing (both Sensor and Image Processor), more than anything else. A smaller node size (7nm?) may have greatly helped with heat management, and a proper passive heat sink, with the heat being transferred into the body away from the internals could have helped. I am suspicious of reviewers saying they can record for hours and days. Despite the low quality of non HQ video. Though the RAW and HQ modes (?) are apparently the absolute worst.
  16. You're right. The video is pretty mushy. And the sharpening doesn't seem to help.
  17. what resolution video were the screen grabs taken from ?
  18. Canon's 8 stops of stabilization due to the new IBIS (and lens combo) also seems greatly exaggerated. Would love to see a face off between it and Olympus.
  19. I suspect the same. Sony is trying to brand this as the king of video shooters, but it may come with a lot of riders.
  20. And at 1:21 he hints about the M43 and GH roadmap. That they will speak about it at the appropriate time and that they have a roadmap for M43.
  21. Don't know why certain bitrates and gramerates are overheating more than others. Btw, in the last video I thought he said it overheated in 8k at 9mins. And many of these videos are shot in very cool temperatures. At 35°C and over I am guessing the camera is going to stop shooting very quickly and take very long to be ready to shoot again.
  22. Please read it again. And don't assume you'll get 29, 28, 27 or even 26 mins. You'll only get 1 minute. Hopefully that's all you need. 😂
  23. Hahaha. You can't turn turn hope into dreams. The camera heats in many modes, not just the absolutely best quality and bitrate ones. I wouldn'be surprised if it heats at 1080p too. After the first 30 minutes.
