  1. I could have bet the language (wording of sentences) creates a strange sense of deja vu. Almost like former ads for equipment from someone familiar. I wonder if he will ever be punished for his crimes. I am Sure one can file a Cyber Crime complaint in Eqypt from wherever one is, regardless of jurisdiction. That should be One less criminal in the world.
  2. Hahaha. People haven't been listening. To Commemorate it's 10th Edition (of the S10), as well as introduce the Galaxy X, Samsung has been making some incremental yet important updates to its present models (the S9 and Note10). The Super Radical Improvements are reserved for the S10 (with its 2-3 models), and the GalaxyX. Right now the changes are subtle but very welcome (having a more powerful processor by increasing power from 2.3 to 2.7-8 Ghz, increasing RAM from 6Gb to 8Gb, improving the feature in the SPen, substantial battery size increase from 3300mAh to 4000mAh, increasing the storage from 256Gb to 512Gb, improving the quality of the camera both via hardware as well as via software etc).
  3. It would be Absolutely Hilarious if DJI actually releases a mirrorless ILC camera module based on the DJI Zenmuse X7 with IBIS and weather sealing and something that shoots ProRes Or 10-bit H264/265. If they added 15fps to that list, along with their lightweight lens line-up, Nikon would probably never bring this camera to the market (like it did with its 1inch camera range). It could also challenge Sony and Canon, and push ILCs to get more serious about video (like the Panasonic and Sony ones).
  4. I think there was a single flavour of ProRes on the Camera. I am guessing all ProRes and RAW 1080p will be in this windowed mode. It's pretty substantial. With the metabones adaptor coming out (hopefully around the same time around which the camera starts hitting stores), the crop would be substantially reduced (and the image substantially brighter).
  5. I am guessing that there may be a slight delay, though nowhere near the 1-1.5 years the original pocket cinema camera. It could be a few weeks if not days. They already seemed to have tested it, but think the footage is still be tweaked even further. Also, they want to push the sensor to the max, within the limitations of the processor. Every organisation has a common attitude, that trickles down from the top. Grant Petty seems to know what he wants, and he isn't in a rat race. He actually doesn't care at all for the rats, and that's why the profit margins are smaller, and Black Magic doesn't have inflated advertising costs and no unnecessary freebies for anyone. Also, Grant doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to be a billionaire, with all the hyperbole advertising and specs (ala 'Cinemartin Fran 8K', or 4k at 480fps blah blah blah), endemic to the industry. Blackmagic has had its set of firmware and feature hiccups. But for the price, I doubt anyone comes close. In many ways he and blackmagic design embody the true meaning of 'disruptive' without the glorified presstitute fanfare.
  6. Thanks Oh ok. That would be interesting.
  7. I attended a Black Magic event today and got to play around with the BMPCC4k for a while (maybe 30 mins or so). I cannot discuss all my observations for fear of causing unnecessary panic, but I will state a few things I noticed. 1. The autofocus is not the best, but with the M43 lens advantage, and focus peaking things should be fine. 2. A lot of firmware features were disabled and flavours of ProRes were limited along with recording capabilities, to prevent people from sharing random non final firmware footage. 3. The on-board fans for the camera were not only absolutely silent, they were also unnoticeable (I put my finger over the vents and noticed almost nothing). 4. The Windowed HD is a substantial crop. So Metabones may make a BMPCC4k specific adaptor (which would be essential IMHO). 5. Low Light seems decent. I would like to compare the GH5s with it, though the Black Magic doesn't seem to have any noise reduction, and so at higher ISOs, noise seemed visible (as was the high level of detail in the image). I think once a few units reach reviewers, I would love to see this reviewed for low light, among other things. 6. I found it to be heavy with cinema lenses. But I guess this may have been due to the lenses more than the body. Also after the composite, it should shave off at least 100gms off the weight. 7. Very impressive ergonomics. Especially the wheels the grip. After Panasonic's IBIS + OIS we're literally spoit if anything doesn't offer anything like that (Canon cameras?), it's a little disappointing (I know stabilizers are good enough). I feel Blackmagic is working with a lot of accessory makers. I hope they get a battery grip with atleast 3 hours of juice. If Panasonic tweaks the VLog, I am sure they can easily get atleast another Stop of Dynamic Range out of the cameras (if not more). I realised that M43 is in need of a very fast zoom lens with a decent Range (f2 12-36mm). They could make it fat or large, who really cares. And it must have good OIS (for cameras that don't have IBIS).
  8. Anyone has any idea how many stops of dynamic range in video the Phantom 4 advanced has? Also, I am curious whether the Mavic 2 Pro will have a mechanical shutter like the Phantom 4 Advanced? This may be my first drone too. It does seem promising.
  9. I am for any kind of discussion, as long as One Single Viewpoint as being right, is not valiantly forced down anyone's throat. We live in a world where we have scant knowledge of real facts, thanks to the majority of the news being fake. And this fake narrative continues across healthcare and medicines, science and tech, and everywhere else. I also agree, a sub-forum solely meantfor all such debates; should be created. It seems out of place on the main forum page. In ways I also feel it helps people get out of their loneliness, boredom and depression. Maybe it's helping save a few people from suicide or (committing) murder.
  10. Somewhere in the same catalogue or one of the leaks I saw some Hasselblad connection. I hope that hasn't jacked up the prices of the 1inch sensor due to that.
  11. I was thinking on the same lines of the sensor size being FF or Larger (Medium Format). It could be Leica, but their camera sales may be in very small numbers, so TJ may not announce a sensor specifically for them (meaning it may either be common between camera companies being an off the shelf sensor; OR, it may be some other manufacturer for whom numbers may be a big deal for both TJ and the Camrra Company eg:- Canon or Nikon). Unless the lower cost model with Zenit that you mentioned, may actually be mass market (unlikely IMHO). I guess we'll have to wait and watch.
  12. " ... For this ‘DSLR’ supplier, the first front side illmination project is progressing according to plan, expecting to ramp the volume production in 2020, while the second stacked wafer based project with industry leading alignment accuracy and associated performance benefits is expected to ramp to volume production a year after." I am guessing the 2nd generation of this will have something on the liken of a BSI sensor along with some other features (PDAF?). I couldn't agree more with you @Andrew Reid. The Sony monopoly in the sensor market has made the others almost complacent and Sony had been slowly abusing its monopoly (Like the best 1inch, smartphone and other sensors are for its own cameras).
  13. "3.Four times greater dynamic range than previous products and real time output Original Sony exposure control technology and signal processing functionality are built into the image sensor, enabling real-time output and a superior dynamic range that is four times greater than conventional products. Even scenes with both bright and dark areas can be captured with minimal highlight blowout or loss of detail in shadows while viewing the image on the smartphone display." I read in one of the debates online that the ISPs of Snapdragon were not ideal for bringing out the full potential of smartphone camera sensors, and that many of those functions have now been built into the sensor to improve with dynamic range among other things. The sensor also does Full Res (48MP) @ 30fps, 4k at 90fps and 1080p at 240fps. I can see further score for image quality improvement via photo stacking, and HDR video. This probably also means that Smartphone SoCs are moving to Much Higher Resolution Photos and way more photo processing power now (one of the Major shortcomings of the l16 light camera). This in dual or triple sensor combinations with 12MP (perhaps B&W) sensors of 1/2.3" and larger will have some seriously amazing low light capabilites, and hopefully with another sensor, some great zoom capabilities too.
  14. I didn't realise that photokina is in the same month as the proposed/ promised released of the BMPCC 4k. That would be interesting ...
  15. Hmmm ... the BEST thing about the BMPCC 4k is actually the price. Maybe battery life gets much better with an accessory (that perhaps dds other features including a cheap and ergonomic SSD option. I guess you may be right about Vlackmagic ironing out issues with firmware as people start testing the cameras. And I guess with better innovation and more features, come more noticeable issues.
  16. Is there a particular reason for this?
  17. It's Amazing how people have conveniently overlooked the attached controller with all those extra functionalities. And I thought I miss the obvious, too often.
  18. Holy Mother of God. You're like the Einstein of the Group. If you make this cheap (with an inbuilt battery an bluetooth controller), this could sell in the million. Lemme PM you.
  19. I agree qeather sealing is probably not necessary, maybe because its not going to be used as a sports cam. IBIS is great for smaller crews and gor guerrilla work, or walking (which is impossible with stabilized lenses alone). IBIS is more successful in M43 cameras because the mount is usually much smaller than the sensor, and the sensor has more space to move around (especially in comparison to Sony's cameras woth IBIS).
  20. Thank you. IBIS, Autofocus AND Weather-sealing ? Also, Olympus and Sigma (who incidentally seems to have designed and made the Panny Leica Nocticron) are leading the 4/3 Party in lens quality and selection. If Blackmagic could convince either of them to make fast constant zooms (f1.8 - 2), the collaboration could benefit every camera company using the M43 ecosystem. The f1.2 Olympus Primes are already superb, and a cine version of them could replace almost every other 4/3 cine lens system out there.
  21. Comparing BMD and Kinefinity with other companies like Arri is ludicrous. Arri has almost been around since the dawn of motion pictures, and are pretty elitist, regardless of what anyone believe otherwise. Their products among those of others like them (Panavision), prevented filmmaking from becoming more democratic. It's only since the 5d Mark ii accidentally gatecrashed the indie filmmaking party that others have moved to better codecs and features at a fraction of the cost. Arri would consider it below them to collaborate with anyone on auto focus. I think you just stated something that made absolutely no sense. I mentioned Olympus because they aren't famous for their video capabilities and also because Sony and even Canon, the players with best Autofocus, are in direct competition with them in the Super High-end Cineme Cameras range.
  22. Considering the limited number of countries and companies seriously innovating in the filmmaking space, Kinefinity has done what companies with billions in resources haven't. I am suddenly wondering whether Blackmagic Design and other companies should try and collaborate with Olympus (or pick an engineer or 2 from one of the major player's imaging divisions) and other companies to get autofocus capabilities.
  23. I could agree that smartphones with apps produce superb image with ISO at 50 and 100, and noise reduction shut off (and bitrates at 100 mbps and above). Like on the Cinema 4k app. I with smartphones could push lenses to f.95 and faster. Maybe someone know a way to remove the front lens element and swap it with an even faster element (or remove the black tape on the side of the front lens). Someone in one of the online forums tested Vlog on the GH5s at 11.63 stops (and HLG at a little above that). Wide dynamic range is mentioned continuously in the literature of the sensor, too. If the GH5 is 13 stops in 12-bit photos, then the GH5s should be between 13 and 14 in 12-bit RAW video. This being the same or similar class of sensors should definitely have over 13 stops.
  24. I doubt anyone can actually tell the difference between 13 and 14 stops. Also, I believe the Pocket 4k will offer more than 13 stops, and less than 14 (if it has a similar sensor to the GH5s, since it seems to have more dynamic range than the 13 stops on the GH5).
  25. "...Through continuous cooperation with Samsung, we anticipate to bring more meaningful innovation to mobile cameras." That says it all, I guess. This would most likely be only limited to smartphones, and reduce Samsung's dependence on Sony for Smartphone Camera Sensors. A little bit more.
