Somewhere in the same catalogue or one of the leaks I saw some Hasselblad connection. I hope that hasn't jacked up the prices of the 1inch sensor due to that.

Panasonic preparing production of full frame sensor for 2020?
sanveer replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I was thinking on the same lines of the sensor size being FF or Larger (Medium Format). It could be Leica, but their camera sales may be in very small numbers, so TJ may not announce a sensor specifically for them (meaning it may either be common between camera companies being an off the shelf sensor; OR, it may be some other manufacturer for whom numbers may be a big deal for both TJ and the Camrra Company eg:- Canon or Nikon). Unless the lower cost model with Zenit that you mentioned, may actually be mass market (unlikely IMHO). I guess we'll have to wait and watch. -
Panasonic preparing production of full frame sensor for 2020?
sanveer replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
" ... For this ‘DSLR’ supplier, the first front side illmination project is progressing according to plan, expecting to ramp the volume production in 2020, while the second stacked wafer based project with industry leading alignment accuracy and associated performance benefits is expected to ramp to volume production a year after." I am guessing the 2nd generation of this will have something on the liken of a BSI sensor along with some other features (PDAF?). I couldn't agree more with you @Andrew Reid. The Sony monopoly in the sensor market has made the others almost complacent and Sony had been slowly abusing its monopoly (Like the best 1inch, smartphone and other sensors are for its own cameras). -
"3.Four times greater dynamic range than previous products and real time output Original Sony exposure control technology and signal processing functionality are built into the image sensor, enabling real-time output and a superior dynamic range that is four times greater than conventional products. Even scenes with both bright and dark areas can be captured with minimal highlight blowout or loss of detail in shadows while viewing the image on the smartphone display." I read in one of the debates online that the ISPs of Snapdragon were not ideal for bringing out the full potential of smartphone camera sensors, and that many of those functions have now been built into the sensor to improve with dynamic range among other things. The sensor also does Full Res (48MP) @ 30fps, 4k at 90fps and 1080p at 240fps. I can see further score for image quality improvement via photo stacking, and HDR video. This probably also means that Smartphone SoCs are moving to Much Higher Resolution Photos and way more photo processing power now (one of the Major shortcomings of the l16 light camera). This in dual or triple sensor combinations with 12MP (perhaps B&W) sensors of 1/2.3" and larger will have some seriously amazing low light capabilites, and hopefully with another sensor, some great zoom capabilities too.

I didn't realise that photokina is in the same month as the proposed/ promised released of the BMPCC 4k. That would be interesting ...
-
Hmmm ... the BEST thing about the BMPCC 4k is actually the price. Maybe battery life gets much better with an accessory (that perhaps dds other features including a cheap and ergonomic SSD option. I guess you may be right about Vlackmagic ironing out issues with firmware as people start testing the cameras. And I guess with better innovation and more features, come more noticeable issues.
-
Is there a particular reason for this?
-
It's Amazing how people have conveniently overlooked the attached controller with all those extra functionalities. And I thought I miss the obvious, too often.
-
Holy Mother of God. You're like the Einstein of the Group. If you make this cheap (with an inbuilt battery an bluetooth controller), this could sell in the million. Lemme PM you.

I agree qeather sealing is probably not necessary, maybe because its not going to be used as a sports cam. IBIS is great for smaller crews and gor guerrilla work, or walking (which is impossible with stabilized lenses alone). IBIS is more successful in M43 cameras because the mount is usually much smaller than the sensor, and the sensor has more space to move around (especially in comparison to Sony's cameras woth IBIS).
-
Thank you. IBIS, Autofocus AND Weather-sealing ? Also, Olympus and Sigma (who incidentally seems to have designed and made the Panny Leica Nocticron) are leading the 4/3 Party in lens quality and selection. If Blackmagic could convince either of them to make fast constant zooms (f1.8 - 2), the collaboration could benefit every camera company using the M43 ecosystem. The f1.2 Olympus Primes are already superb, and a cine version of them could replace almost every other 4/3 cine lens system out there.

Comparing BMD and Kinefinity with other companies like Arri is ludicrous. Arri has almost been around since the dawn of motion pictures, and are pretty elitist, regardless of what anyone believe otherwise. Their products among those of others like them (Panavision), prevented filmmaking from becoming more democratic. It's only since the 5d Mark ii accidentally gatecrashed the indie filmmaking party that others have moved to better codecs and features at a fraction of the cost. Arri would consider it below them to collaborate with anyone on auto focus. I think you just stated something that made absolutely no sense. I mentioned Olympus because they aren't famous for their video capabilities and also because Sony and even Canon, the players with best Autofocus, are in direct competition with them in the Super High-end Cineme Cameras range.
-
Considering the limited number of countries and companies seriously innovating in the filmmaking space, Kinefinity has done what companies with billions in resources haven't. I am suddenly wondering whether Blackmagic Design and other companies should try and collaborate with Olympus (or pick an engineer or 2 from one of the major player's imaging divisions) and other companies to get autofocus capabilities.

I could agree that smartphones with apps produce superb image with ISO at 50 and 100, and noise reduction shut off (and bitrates at 100 mbps and above). Like on the Cinema 4k app. I with smartphones could push lenses to f.95 and faster. Maybe someone know a way to remove the front lens element and swap it with an even faster element (or remove the black tape on the side of the front lens). Someone in one of the online forums tested Vlog on the GH5s at 11.63 stops (and HLG at a little above that). Wide dynamic range is mentioned continuously in the literature of the sensor, too. If the GH5 is 13 stops in 12-bit photos, then the GH5s should be between 13 and 14 in 12-bit RAW video. This being the same or similar class of sensors should definitely have over 13 stops.
-
I doubt anyone can actually tell the difference between 13 and 14 stops. Also, I believe the Pocket 4k will offer more than 13 stops, and less than 14 (if it has a similar sensor to the GH5s, since it seems to have more dynamic range than the 13 stops on the GH5).

Samsung open to new camera system, joins forces with Fujifilm
sanveer replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
"...Through continuous cooperation with Samsung, we anticipate to bring more meaningful innovation to mobile cameras." That says it all, I guess. This would most likely be only limited to smartphones, and reduce Samsung's dependence on Sony for Smartphone Camera Sensors. A little bit more. -
Clarification. I didn't mean point no 2 and 3. Only 2 or 3 random points out of these 7. ?
-
My predictions for the a7siii 1. 8-bit 4-2-2 internal. 2. No 30 min recording limit. 3. 18MP sensor. 4. Better EVF. 5. Venice Colour Science. 6. Higher bitrate option for video. 7. Better Menu layout. Though there is a likelihood that ONLY 2-3 of these will make it to the final product. And most likely the least radical ones.
-
Most of thise Vloggers are given Free camera by the likes of Canon and even RED. The companies get Millions in Publicity for a few hundred dollars of free cameras.
-
I completely agree with this. Twice the price for great autofocus is a ripoff. $99-199 is the max that one could charge for that feature. Double the Price should include IBIS, Dual UHS-II cards, Weather-sealing and Double/ Triple the Battery life.

I am curious, as to where you found this information from. Source?

He does say things that makes sense. Though I wish he used examples of extremely low budget films instead of classics with reasonably large budgets and big stars in them, to drive home the point. And, if he showed films either shot on 16mm film or DSLRs with almost no budget (and pretty terrible dynamic range), he could drive his point deeper without sounding like Spielberg Making a $100 film by asking for favours. Maybe if he use Paranormal activity as a reference point, or something else like that, one could connect with him more deeply. I agree with him though, about not chasing numbers wrt to dynamic range and a few other things. Don't even obsess as much about cinematography, and concentrate on first the story and then the sound, and then everything else.

Thanks @Emanuel I am actually looking forward to a 3-way review face-off between these drones. They all are within the 1k price bracket, with 4k video and a few othwr tricks up their sleeve. Dynamic Range and video quality, ease of flight, flight time etc will be the governing factors I guess. Suddenly 25th June seems too far way.
-
It appears as if Autel FINALLY havr a release date (25th June). The footage in the video below actually looks pretty decent. Now I guess it's finally a 3-way battle between the Autel (which doesn't have a 1inch ensor btw), the Parrot and DJI. Hopefully all of them are reasonably attractive, with no major flaws. P.S.: I checked the Autel site (https://www.autelrobotics.com/evo/) and they seem to have the same 12MP sensor as the DJI Mavic Air (or very similar). Their price seems to be $999 (I clicked on BUY, and it led me to see the price), and that may be it's weakest link. Unless it can offer something way better (it does have 30 mins of flight time).

ZCam E2 4k footage in the wild, including ungraded and 120fps
sanveer replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I too think this footage is premature in a very very unfortunate way. Creating any kind of log profile or decent video codec on a camera cannot possibly be that difficult. Also, if ZCam wants to start improving the official footage slowly and show the improvements to people ovwr weeks or months, they may have understood the mindset of prospective customers all wrong. If people start seeing great footage from the 20th or 30th video, most perspective buyers would already have migrated to things. I doubt anyone has the patience to see the magic happening. They should not give us Alpha and Beta. Just come final product in terms of video quality.
