    GH5 Prototype

There appear to be people who have never used a M43 and seem to want to have one with features found on top end full frame or the C-Line of Canon Cameras. It reminds me of the Apple Fan boys trolling on all Android sites. It's plain ludicrous. It completely defeats the purpose of a healthy debate.
  2. Are you supposed to push the settings to -5/-5/-5-5? Also, did you use the Ultra Contrast Filter in these shots? The highlight recovery seems to be in existent curiously in thsee pics with Procolor. The window seems to have some crazy blown highlights.

I agree about the lens choices too. Can't figure Why the M43 makers don't concentrate on Faster Lenses. Like maybe a few f1.8 zooms or f.95 primes Even if it means collaborating with Voigtlander or Sigma. Leica is great but their prices aren't.

Dynamic range could be pushed of it probably does the Log even better. I suddenly suspect that the GH5 may actually be a multi-aspect sensor and thus different from the Olympus EM1 Mark ii. I doubt whether the Dynamic Range will cross 13 stops (the GH4 was 12.8). Also, I wish Panasonic could consider 14 bit RAW or atleast very workable RAW photos. If it does 12 stops in video, it would be be good enough especially if it does 10 bit at pretty high megabits. I wouldn't dismiss the focussing speed on the GH5, though the 6.5 stops of stabilisation (IBIS and OIS) on the EM1 mark ii is absolutely insane.

If ANY of these rumors are true, the GH5 is going to be one monster of a Mirrorless Camera. For Video alone it will be super camera. If it does good photos too, it would be great. As a video camera it may actual signal Panasonic offering some good and healthy competition to Sony, especially for people willing to soend in the ballpark of $1999 and above. Except low light it might have all other necessary tricks up its sleeve. http://www.43rumors.com/ft4-additional-gh5-specs-180fps-225-focus-points/
  6. Actually I saw and compared all the pics again. I stand corrected about dynamic range in the 3rd pic. But there is a return to the green tint. Not as much as the 1st pic, but it does return a little. Maybe you could use a warm grade with more orange or yellow while reducing for red grade.
  7. I like the EOSHD Procolor applied. In the 3rd pic the green colour tint returns with clipping of the dynamic range too.

Like I said before the Olympus EM1 Mark ii and the GH5 will most probably share the Same Sensor. The agreement between them has prevented Olympus from using the full potential of the Video features, and Panasonic will probably reduce the burst speeds and other photography benefits of the Sensor. I am guessing that the VLOG on the GH5 will also be vastly improved. The auto focus for video will also be noticeably improved. http://www.43rumors.com/ft3-panasonic-gh5-has-20mp-mft-sensor/#disqus_thread
  9. I am looking forward to your feedback on Andrew's Pro Color for Panasonic Cameras, since you use the Tiffin Ultra Contrast Filter. I am curious as to whether it makes the image better or worse, or it remains the same, after the Pro Color. I am guessing it may be similar or marginal better.

  11. Interestingly the G85 is $999 with the 12-60mm lens, which is actually a $495 lens. So, theoretically the G85 is not 1/2 but rather 1/3rd the price. Also, such pricing is not only problematic for the Olympus, but it will also, IMHO, eat into the GH5's market, unless the video on that is Insane.
  12. I still feel Panasonic R&D are Jackasses for not having a Mic in and Cinelike Profiles on the GX85. But it appears the G85 isn't all that weather-proof after all. Hahaha
  13. Sir Reid, you completely skipped the GX85 review, after Promising it (your preview was not a review). Could you compare the G85 with the GX85 for photos and video. I am guessing the GX85 may be better for video stabilization and the G85 for stills.
  14. AUKEY makes reasonably priced lenses. If you want the very best (and expensive), try Moment. They appear to better than almost everyone else around. By a margin.
  15. I said this before too. Most users of GH4s and most Panasonic ILSc, don't know what extra features they want in the GH5. While the colour science seems to have been improved, and the GX85 and G85 signal this along with IBIS, nobody knows what else to expect, or more importantly know what they want Panasonic to add in the GH5. IronFilm said that the Yagh monster should be made much smaller, more on the lines of what Sony does, and Panasonic seems to have listened, and that has been added to the GH5 lineup (I suspect it will also work with the GX85 and the G85). I feel, that Panasonic needs to figure out a few things, the most important of which should be Codec. It should do a Much Tweaked version of its VLog with much higher bitrates and a little more dynamic range. Also, atleast 2 flavours of VLog, like Sony's C-Log would be a good idea. I doubt whether it would want to introduce RAW or even ProRes for video, in its Mirrorless Camera. That's asking for too much. Though, I hope Panasonic Introduces multiple card format support, and includes 2 slots for the UHS-II standard and also for xqd cards. That way it can always improve things for photo and video, and atleast not worry about speed ever being a restricting factor for it. I wonder if its possible ti improve its Sensor performance, any further, in terms of dynamic range. I personally don't even think any more dynamic range is really necessary, and Sony being the sensor supplier, won't improve it, either. But, if Panasonic can make the difference between video and photo dynamic range even less than it is, it would be a great feat. If Sony can manage it, Panasonic needs to work on it too. Though, to Panasonic's credit, its cameras don't seriously overheat like Sony's at attempting to push the camera and sensor to their very limit. I doubt whether the ISO improvement will be better than the GX85 or the G85 (which is much better than the GH4), which TBO, that level is good enough.
  16. @John, I will defidefinitely keep you updated. I just hope they fix the issue properly at the earliest, and that it isn't a recurring one after it's fixed.
  17. Does the Inspire 2 have the GX8 sensor or the one on the new EMD-I Mark ii sensor?
  18. I picked up a Panasonic GX80/85 from Australia. I have really not had the time to use it much. Maybe like a week or less of actual use. Now I noticed this curious image appearing on the screen. It prevents me from recording anything. It happened from the first few times I used the camera. I initially thought it must have been something else, because it disappeared every time I switched my Camera Off and then On. But now, it is Permanent. Does anyone know why this seems to be happening. Though I am planning to send my camera to the service centre, I am curious as to What this Problem really is, and if anyone knows or has experienced it. Am a little disappointed cause I Finally got free from my other jobs to be able to shoot something, and then the other camera I have on me suddenly stops working.
  19. They should have an SD card Slot for Both the SD UH-I and UHS-II Standard, cause the UHS-II has a 280 MB card by SanDisk already. also, the 2nd slow should be an XQD standard card. thode are doing between 400 and 500MB right now, and could easily do much higher rates very soon. Also with wider acceptance, their prices could come down noticeably (they're pretty expensive right now). That way the GH5 could easily be updated by Panasonic by firmware to be improved constantly (for faster readouts needed for higher bitrate and higher photo buffer). In some ways I feel the GH4 sensor is terribly noisy at almost All ISOs except perhaps ISO 200 and ISO400. And the lowlight was really bad. Hopefully Panasonic has a usable ISO 3200 noise sensor.
  20. The Main Stream Media has become diabolic and evil. And the quality of reporting is worthy of sending reporters and channels to jail for fabrication. It is a phenomenon that isn't endemic to the US alone, in the last few years. I agree that something must be done about it. They have blown all morality to the wind.
  21. I read on Cameralabs that it doesn't have a crop while shooting video (4k). If that's true, then it's amazing how it manages that along with such low rolling shutter
  22. I was just watching this video. GoPro won't be able to sleep tonight. But in all fairness, this seems to a very genuine review. And very important.
  23. I saw quite a few comprisons between the iPhone, the S7 and the Pixel, and the difference is far more than DPReview states. Most likely because DPReview doesn't consider the OIS (I wonder whether it considers the f-stop of the lens?). Therefore it is not a very real user experience, and even technically, therefore, it may be flawed.
  24. It's difficult to reason why Google refuses to put OIS in their smartphone cameras, and have an f/1.7 lens instead of the f/2 one. Also I am very curious to know the truth about the double exposure for getting the noticeable exposure improvement. While I don't doubt that the Sony IMX378 sensor can actually read RAW at extremely high rates, allowing for superb HDR, I am guessing that Google does it in jpeg, since the processor may not be able to handle high speed RAW, along with HDR. Also, the missing OIS may limit the exposure range. Google really doesn't have any good explanation for not including the OIS (except perhaps to save on money and a few extra engineers). Also, the low light pics seem to lack details. Google's algorithm are quite exaggerated. They cannot possibly compensate for a lack of OIS.
