    GH4 V-Log $99

I am guessing that the Panasonic DVX-200 and the GH4 will have noticeably different grading abilities, being the difference in 8 bit 4-2-0 and 10-bit 4-2-2. Also the bitrate could be noticeably more on the GH4 recorded externally.
  2. I believe that means 12 stops of Dynamic Range. Also pushing the Bitrate substantially higher to help preserve details better, noy to mention easier for post work.
  3. I just noticed, that the JVC is planning on bringing a lot of features via a new firmware update, which will only further improve the features on the camera: http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/features.jsp?model_id=MDL102318

    GH4 V-Log $99

wow. I thought the same thing. Actually since the BlackMagic Video assist won't be appearing any time soon, they should upgrade the Internal recording to 4k ProRes and add another $300 to the price tag. Hehehe

    GH4 V-Log $99

Actually recording 10 bit 4k woud require some serious processing power, superb write speeds and may even cause serious heating issues. Plus the GH4 records in the vicinity of 4 hours. 4k at 10bit might cause some serious explosion I am guessing.

    GH4 V-Log $99

hahahahahahahahaha The HDMI out was already doing 10-bit previously. Would they get it down to 8-bit for the VLog? Probably not. Btw I am guessing all major retailers will stock kits for the update: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1182741-REG/panasonic_dmw_sfu1_vlog_v_log_l_function_activation.html

    GH4 V-Log $99

News Shooter had tested the new Log on the Panasonic DVX200, which they claim is identital to the Log on the GH4. The Log was mostly great but the highlights clipped slightly (they actually said the rolloff wasn't too pleasing). I hope they jack up the bitrate to be to handle the extra data well.

    GH4 V-Log $99

I has said $99 seems reasonable. I also hope they allow the VLog for the GX8, the G7 and the LX100.
  9. A few Sony cameras have paid updates for Extra features. I guess, as long as the amount is reasonable like $99 or something, it should help both Panasonic as well as the users. To Increase sales for Panasonic they could also sell it for the LX100, GX8 and the G7. I guess betwern these 4 models they can earn a fair deal of money on the VLog update.
  10. It is only poor in low light. Which is fine, frankly considering how tiny the sensor is compared to a full frame or even a M4/3rd. I am curious. The Log range starts at ISO800 and has noise by ISO1600. Am I correct? Amd it has 3 ND Filter Settings?
  11. I guess even more than colours the 4-2-2 codec and the medium format look will be superb with leica glass. And good 4k. Though the price is prohibitive (except that it is a Medium Format Camera, and that it is a Leica).
  12. I think this is STELLAR. The colors have become more natural, and the shadows have been lifted pretty well too. I was unable to find an app called "CINEMA 4K" in the Android store. But, the screenshots you have posted are pretty amazing. I am guessing that this could easily be used for a feature, and could be graded pretty well too.
  13. There is this blogger name Robin Wong who took some pretty stellar pics with the OnePlus One. The FV app that he used for stills also works with video. Someone posted in another thread about the 4k Cinema app. I wonder how much better 4k on Smartphones becomes after hacking the camera.
  14. I kind of find it curious too, that if Sony did have overheating issues with many other cameras of theirs including the A5100, A6000, A33, A55 etc etc etc, why did Sony engineers not try and figure out what they need to work on and work on it. I am sure a lot of people don't mind having 10 min clips or shorter, especially for shooting film, but having heat issues restricting shoot timing is frankly a bad thing. Even the RX100 iv has heat issues, so whatever it is, that is causing it, has obviously been ignored for far too long. This is very strange, especially considering how path breaking their new technologies are.
  15. My friend once joked about DXO Marks, that if they weren't informed about the sensors, and were given the exact same sensor two times, they would arrive at almost exactly opposite results, after testing them both. Well, I know that the LX100 and the GX7 (and most likely the GM5 too) have the same sensor. Also, that the LX100 should have, ideally better lowlight, despite using a smaller portion of its sensor, since it has a newer (and better) processor and a better lens. God only knows what they get right, or what they get wrong. http://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-LX100-sensor-review-Potent-point-and-shoot/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-LX100-vs-Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-GM5-vs-Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-GX7-Related-sensors
  16. Wow. The camera work is actually extremely impressive. Far better than a lot of actions and sports photography done by some of the biggest names around.
  17. The main issues with the G7 include: 1. Bad bitrate at 1080p and slowmo. 2. No headheadphone monitoring. 3. HDMI seems very strange and kostly disabled because you can't watch it in camera with the HDMI out. 4. Won't get the promised GH4 log. Most likely only the GH4 will have log. It's positives: 1. Noticeably cheaper than the GH4. $1500 (without lens) vs $800 (with lens and maybe even mic). 2. If u're in the US, Adorama literally throws in a shotgun mic free with the camera and lens deal. I believe the whole thing costs under $800. Sell the free Audio Technica Mic and pick up a Audio Technica AT875R IF you plan on getting a separate recorder. Btw apart from the bad battery and lack of separate mic in the system, the Tascam DR 60D Mark ii is a better option than the Zoom in terms of spund quality especially for shotgun mics. It costs well under $200. 3. Slightly better low light than the GH4. 4. Good internal 4k at 100 Mbps. I haven't understood the need for the H5 or H6 unless it involves multiple shotguns or something else. You could get the Shure LensHopper VP 63F. It has dual sound, meaning it feeds sound into your dslr as well as records it on a micro SD card. That way you also have backup in case of sudden sound surges, by having a 10db or difference in volume between both sources. Also, you can record ADR on it, since it works without the DRLR as well. For interviews it's best to use lapel mics, apart from on a shotgun, since ADR isn't an option. Whatever you save, keep it for the stabilizer and lighting.
  18. I am sure you would also love some terrorists to blow up the world too. But we wish it never happens. Segways are already used in films or TV where you need smooth tracking movements without the headache of setting up of tracks. Also, unlike tracks, on open spaces segways can travel smoothly for several kilometres likein dessert sequences or on empty roads. The uses can be practically limitless. P.S.: Just for your evil satisfaction the former head of Segways died after he used it on top of a hill. RIP
  19. Congrats on the 5 years. You're doing a great job. The forumsbare mostly unbiased and very helpful. Also, no unnecessary ghetto like regulations. Plus these is continuous interaction between members.b Like I requested, could you also do one on the auto focus on the G7 for video, and a comparison of its low light with other cameras including the GH4? Thanks
  20. I believe someone on Provideocoalition pointed out the source of the input on the BMD video assist was wrong and that is why the quality of the video would not be as good as it should be. Maybe that pushed their dates further. They do have a slight problem with times schedules in general, though, I guess. So, it is safe to say that atleast 3 months is a given.
  21. I believe the focus locks (apart from all other settings) on the RX100 iv and RX10 ii on all fast speed modes for the two cameras. This may be a biy of an issue. Also, both the cameras are noisy anywhere about ISO 1000. I saw the pics on dpreview and a few other sites, and the video shot with SLog at ISO 1600 on the RX100 ii seemed to have noticeable noise.
  22. Superb idea. I saw this many weeks ago first on CheesyCam.com. It's like a super cheap segway. And except for the low ground clearence I cannot think of another flaw with this thing.
  23. Thanks for the reply Zak. I don't think I could have ever guessed it was shot on an AF100. About your other two films, I guess, you guys would be the first people to be Officially using the GH4 for a feature. That looks like a good story to add for publicity and advertising as well.
