  1. Any latptop with a discrete 2GB GPU, big SSD, and >3700 Inel CPU.
  2.     to some extent I agree with this. I think a full frame version of the original BMCC sensor, along with some of the pro features that Andrew mentioned in his article would be worth it.
  3. I think the smiley face was a dead giveaway.   On topic: as of July 18th, the reps on the black magic site still claim that the team is working hard trying to meet the deadline.
  4. The deafening silence is very strange. Perhaps BMD is concerned that their manufacturers/firmware designers, will take their foot off the gas if they announce a delay.
  5. No problem, i think i probably started here the same way. There is is at least one thread, where i had 95% of users telling me i was out of line.   Besides, the best way to piss off Andrew is to calmly tell him he is being unreasonable and why.   Bruno, I figured you would take it differently, given that you have experience with Andrew's "methods of communication".
  6.   I'm not condoning his behavior, in fact i've been on the end of the receiving end before, but i think there is a difference when people who know each other get into it (Bruno vs. EOSHD).   Post count can tell if someone is registering on a site just to troll. I'm not accusing you of this, i'm just saying.
  7.   Dude, having a strong opinion or being sensitive doesn't make you a d-bag. On the other hand, making personal attacks on the site creator before you've made even a dozen posts... think about that.   I think it's time you start over. We're a temperamental lot here, but we do try and have a little respect.
  8. ^ I think that's going a little far, Gavin. The work flow on Canon raw isn't that bad if you have the complementary hardware. Furthermore, the benefits of a full frame raw camera are huge, especially when running and gunning (so much less shake). But i do think ML raw get's over hyped. I think the BMD sensor still clearly produces a better image (when stabilized), but no doubt the ML hack is a HUGE improvement over the old 5D3 video.   But all this is besides the fact. The last footage off the Pocket camera shows real promise, raw or not (my thoughts about the camera man aside). I think we'll start getting them in August, and a one month delay is not the end of the world, not even close. And remember, i was the one telling you guys (including EOS) that you were crazy as for expectations for the delivery of the BMCC. This situation smells different. I think they are a lot closer.   Now, as for the BMPrC...
  9.   It helps when you get code fed to you by the manufacturer... :D   But Andrew, i think you are still forgetting that we are talking about a tiny company (at least compared to Canon). The don't have an entire PR department and they don't have 1000 heads working on the supply chain for a single product.   At the end of the day, the fact that they sent a public deadline has forced them to get camera out ASAP.  It sucks, but lets not pretend than any of us where planning our life around the release of this product.   I'm really surprised at how angry people are getting.
  10.   What makes you think they haven't been produced yet? My guess is that they are waiting on the firmware, and that thousands of units are already produced.
  11. You can see the IQ of the sensor is on par with any raw camera out there. On the other hand, looks like going handheld with anything other than the widest lens is tough. Image stabilization becomes a real bitch with the smaller sensor. But for only $1000 it's a steal.
  12.   Magic lantern has a pocket camera that can shoot raw?   And plenty of people are still buying the BMCC...
  13.   I think they already have the bad reputation for meeting deadlines, so i'm not sure if it will change much. You can't count on them to deliver on time, but once the customers get the product in their hand, they seem satisfied.    The only way i see this killing them is if they are so late that someone else beats them to the market.    Speaking of which, if it's possible, can we convince Nokia to put a raw recording option on the Lumina 1020?     Just kidding. Wait, am I?
  14.   Look, the FUBAR situation with the BMCC was in some sense forgivable considering the enormity of what BMD was trying to do at the time: They were going into uncharted territories, competing with companies that are literally 100X if not 1000X their size.   But now that BMD has been through all this once before, significant delays with the new cameras, without reasonable forewarning,  will make it seem more like a corporate philosophy of deception, and less like a poor upstart learning the hard way.
  15. I think the fact that we haven't heard from BMD about the ship date means that BMD still thinks there is some chance they will meet their July target for limited shipping.   But the fact that so little has been seen of either new camera is very troubling.
  16.   5%? If you are shooting in daylight, without secondary light sources, 12(11.7) stops is not optimal.
  17. For video it only works on the 5D3, and there is a resolution loss in the shadows and highlights (because half the pixels will be pure black/blown out).   I can't wait to see the results though. The Alexa does something similar (albeit in hardware i think) with their dual gain sensors.
  18.   I tend to agree. But at the same time i wonder, are the movies actually getting worse, or are we just getting older?
  19.   I agree that black should be black. But shots with virtually 0 shadow details looks really weird to me. But I agree that overall the image looks much better than what they would have got of the in camera codec.
  20. The new NIN video from Lynch.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=1RN6pT3zL44     Pretty damn ugly, and repetitive.
  21. I like the idea for the short. It made me uncomfortable, but that's about all. Maybe I'm missing something.   Also, blacks crushed to hell, so not the best way to show off the raw.
