  1. Go down with the ship? Let not romanticize him too much. It's not like he is going broke by financing his own visions.  At this point he's just a lazy rich guy who wants other people to finance his vanity projects.   And Lost Highway was an absolute abortion of a movie...
  2.   A year ago i was telling people they were crazy to think that BMD would meet their deadlines for the BMCC. But as soon as I saw the footage coming off the BMCC I stopped blaming BMD and started figuring out when/how to get one.    It's also important to look at BMD's "disappointments" in context: Faced with unforeseen demand for a nascent product they decided that quality was more important then meeting shipping deadlines. Meanwhile, other upstart raw competitors, Kineraw and Digital Bolex, haven't shipped a single unit.    So on the spectrum of meeting customers expectations, I'd say BMD isn't doing too bad.
  3.   I totally agree.  The truth is, making high quality, avante-garde stuff has never been cheaper. Lynch just wants to make a bunch of money off vanity projects. That's not how the world works now or in the past.  There is nothing stopping him from making great movies, other than he is getting lazy, and doesn't want to work for it.   As an aside, he'll be directing the new Nine Inch Nails video that should appear before the end of the week. Looks like he shot it with a 5D3. https://twitter.com/nineinchnails/status/349701143867305984/photo/1
  4.   I thought so too at first, but I'm starting to think the only real difference is in the presets.
  5. I'd say we don't see the BMPC until the Fall, but when we do see it, I think it will be provided in ample quality. You have to figure that BM has learned something from their go-around with the BMCC.       Yah, because there are soooo many better options out there for the price.....   Wouldn't trade mine for anything, and I had to wait all of 4 days to get it.  Of course other people have had horror stories, and i'm sure there are some people out there who prefer the 5D3 hack to owing a BMCC, but let's not pretend that the BMCC's been made obsolete before it ever got off the launch pad. That honor has been reserved for the c500.
  6. Standard and open are not necessarily one and the same. MP3 is a standard, but you still need a license to use the decoders/encoders. That being said I didn't find a patent on micro 4/3s mounts specifically. This patent might have some useful information in it for your purposes: https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/US20130064532.pdf
  7. Resolve 9 will only work with the the Nvidia Processors because it relies on CUDA. I don't think there is a way around this if you want to edit BMCC footage in Resolve 9.   On the brighter side, I think Resolve 10 will support the AMD cards.
  8. Here is a rough cut of a short narrative that I'm working on.    https://vimeo.com/68572361
  9. I like this shot: https://vimeo.com/68422284
  10.  Channel delay to simulate stereo (there is usually a pluggin for this). You can then add the hall effect with reverb.
  11. So it looks like Canon is still pretending this isn't happening.   EOSHD, so do you think that Canon actively helped ML on this one?
  12. It's so much fun pushing your buttons peedrj.   But in all honesty, I can only compare my BMCC footage to my Wife's 5D3 in stills mode. To my eyes, the BMCC DR advantage is pretty apparent when shooting in bright sunlight.
  13.   So that would put it on par with the 5D3?
  14. It may not even be that complicated. Could be if you download it to a 1D-X it magically becomes a 1D-C.
  15.   Yep, so far the 5D Deuce footage looks better, but there is no way to control for lighting/grading. Either way, nice job Dedipax!   Here is more 5D2 from  Anthony Yebra @ vimeo     https://vimeo.com/66946607   To call that a test is sort of an understatement.. :D
  16.   A consequence of trying to get all the sky/clouds without clipping. If he brought the light on his face too much, i bet we'd see a bunch of noise.   Nice job, Olof.
  17.   I actually thought Genesis was very limited shadow detail.  Lots of crushed blacks though, so who knows what the detail actually looked like. I definitely still think the BMCC has the edge in DR.   Although I did edit my post because I just saw a hacked 5D2 image that I could have sworn was film (nothing on the 5D3 has fooled me like that yet).
  18. This is one of the best videos I've seen so far from the hack, but it's on the 5D2. Very filmic (which i havent seen from the 5D3).   vimeo.com/groups/raw/videos/66667784   Still seeing weird judder in all the hack shots where there is lots of movement.   LOL, advantage 5D Deuce.
  19. I'd start by renting some equipment for your first few gigs. If your business model works, then invest in a better camera. I don't think you need to own everything to start, especially since different clients might want different things.
  20. I actually think the DR is the biggest thing holding the 5D3 back from looking really filmic in the bright sunlight. The DR of the fs700 has been reported to be almost 14 stops, so I'd imagine it would handle these shots much better than the 5D3's 11.7 stops of DR.
  21.   Let's not get carried away, the c300 (or c100 with hdmi) can certainly hold it's own with the 5D3 under most shooting conditions, and definitely kicks the 5D's ass when filming action or going handheld. And the slightly better DR of the c300 seems to be visible in better highlight roll-offs.   But the 5D hacks are still developing, so we shall see.
  22.   I was wondering about this,.. but in any event it was pretty minimal. Real nice work with the video, Andrew!
  23.   Lots of enthusiasm and a teaspoon of delusions of grandeur .
  24. The images are stunning. Nice use of the golden light.
