1.   .... and that's a fact. If you have perfected the story and screenplay is screen worthy and the audio is transparent and grading is coherent then intercut to a few shots taken through the bottom of beer bottle if you want. It's the sum of the experience that your audience takes home not individual parts.
 2.
does anyone happen to have a clip where they mixed anamorphic with standard spherical wide footage? would be great to see some footage if anyone's got any and more importantly i'd love to hear about what you had to do to blend the two. cheers.
Andrew Reid Has done a few of those. In this one he is mentioning the fact about intercutting with some kit lens in telephoto settings. Here is one ; http://vimeo.com/15543342
 3. There are some oval bokeh and there are some anamorphic stretch - BUT disproportionally towards the edges of the frame ! If you look close you may notice the street lights are oval ( ed ) towards the right edge of viewer and the people at same edge are stretched also. Problem is, the reference subject ( the person ) at the centre needs a bit less stretch horizontally but the distant people at the edges need more stretch for natural appearance. It's a good start.
 4. We went over Tokina shots @ 11mm all day. As you guys mentioned, every one got the point that there aren't any visual gains from anamorphic in a tight bathroom shot. I am going to do a crane camera move on a pocket dolly to present the character's appearance in that tight space then crop to 2.66:1 and we are golden. ( female sensuality in a dirty space like inside a rural gas station toilet ... ) Thank you very much for support guys. Now I can get some needed sleep.
 5. We are about to start a small 0$ project that I'm going to shoot it on anamorphic adapters and GH2. Although the Kowa B&H is mostly good for exteriors there are quite a few interior shots ( car interior, rural gas station bathroom, ... ) in this project. Test are showing even Tokina 11-16 set at 11mm won't provide the POV the script is asking for. My options are narrowing down to either rewrite or shoot on FishEye for most of interiors and rewrite to explain the the visuals - re-modeling spaces are out of budget/question . There is one more last option and that is LA-7200 or century optics anamorphic that I don't know much about. Before I start the bid fighting the pirates on the Bay I need to know if there are any other viable options out there for really wide scopes within the low budget access. Any help is appreciated.
 6.
Firstly it is a joke. You have a poor sense of humour sir. If only you understood British culture ;) The point I was jokingly making is that if they had a hundred researchers you would think that he would already know about fly by wire follow focusing, and not need to write it down. I mean it doesn't even have focus peaking. How can they not know about that with 100 researchers? It would be funny if the front of the pad had "stuff that will never appear in the GH4" written on it.
Comedy is regional. Tragedy is global. You consider it a joke calling a senior engineer a " LIER " in public forum. You consider me as a person with lack of sense of humour for pointing out to your possible ignorance to Japanese culture. This is not British Culture. This is you joking around with disregard for others' honours and opinions. Hey c'mon you have sense of humour you should be able to take a little criticism. What's all this agitation about !?
 7.
... Response: (Gets notepad out.) Remember when I said There are over a 100 members researching all over the world? I Lied!!
That comment is not civilized. Only if you knew a bit more about Japanese culture. May be you should consider his action as a noble move from a highest ranking engineer. Perhaps he is the team leader for those 100 members researching the subject. Yet again, only if you knew a bit more about Japanese culture.
 8. I am interested. My problem is, I cannot visit here everyday and i might miss your auctions. Could you PM me about the time you are posting them on eBay please !? BTW. I will be using these closeup filters on a B&H Kowa and a modified Golden ISCO .
 9. Hi everybody, Is it possible to use Andrew's " 2.66 anamorphic " patch in a GH1 and get the same results as the GH2 with that specific patch? If not would you recommend a high quality anamorphic patch for GH1 ? I need to dedicate two cameras to anamorphic for our next project and we have too many GH1s siting on the shelves enjoying early retirement while GH2s are working overtime.
 10. It would be great if Andrew put together another eBook on the subject of artistic lenses. He saved me a bunch of cash with the " Anamorphic Shooter's Guide ". Got the book, started looking around and buying the matching taking lenses to adaptors and clamps - in two weeks I was shooting anamorphic on a hacked GH1 and 7D with great results. I will happily pay for a guide to retro lenses for DSLRs.
 11.
...is going on in this thread?
We are discussing too much of a good thing in here. Hmmm and it's nothing to do with RED - Blue or Green !
 12. When they announced the 3D Hobbit and high frame rates on RED user back then I questioned the possibility of " Soap Opera " look and yes, you guessed it, the fan boys got a chance to show their loyalty by all kind of booing and jeering. In fact everybody should brace for RED users attempt to crash this party as well - just because the possibility of a less than WoW is being attached to RED subject. Let's make sure this is not about RED and the subject is 48 fps and stereo shooting to stay on track. I love peter Jackson and his vision for the Lord of the Rings and this is an unfair look of his current situation with Hobbits : - He does what he does because he can ! He is not hungry anymore. In fact he could flop three more productions like Hobbits and still try a few more. And non of anybodies business. So he does it. - Success of the Lord of the Rings was so huge that his next work will be overshadowed no matter what. Combine that with the king's ransom the result would be trying anything possible to keep the producers happy. That's when the gimmick & gizmos sales persons show up.  Apparently RED was in the front of that  queue - Hobbit should've been done before the Lord of the Rings. It's a smaller story in context and creating a prequel to the LR needs extraordinary efforts. He has gone the gimmick rout many wished he hadn't now. - 48 fps technically is better by all kinds of arguments and white papers. The people writing those white papers go pay to watch pictures made in 24fps for years to come because they feel better.
 13.
"a sensor so powerful it is vacuum cooled." Speechless...because it's such a nonsense.
How so !?
 14.

If you think you need slow mo (which you probably don't, no one really does)
a little toooo bold there... you should really rethink cinematography.  I guess this all depends on your subjectivity of filmmaking.
I'm not sure if anybody around here is old enough to remember how the OverCrank usage for creating drama got so badly out of hand during the 70s . Eventually slomo became a standard in comedy pictures for delivering mocked drama. It went to the point everybody gave up on it because it was too much of a good thing. They just turn the technique to something that gave the impression of funny drama. Yet again we are already there. You could almost anticipate the slomo shot coming at you in every Afganistan doc or the skateboard guy ... Oh - and the pun was intended with the profile title. LOL
 15. Take the internal Battery as a FREE bonus gift included point of sales ... . Take it as that life saver built in add on that you thank gods and BMD when you need it and magically you find it inside your camera. You Know - those cases that you have to set up in 30 seconds and the stupid battery pac was miss placed by somebody and they are calling the roll and again you are the one that making everybody to wait - yet again ! Or just imagine it's not even there. forget about it. Always use your external V-mount or T-mount or cheepy chinese cloned packs and move on. On this issue I have looked into my one year shooting logs. Nearly 75% of camera rolls we have had in either single cam or multiple angles the actual camera On plus Rolling has been under 60minutes per camera per shooting day. ( we log for maintenance and replacement schedule - Film era habits ). So for me the built in battery is a plus. That said I am here to learn about the best external battery options from you guys and girls.
 16.
I am not going to say anything about what it takes to make decent camera BUT why would anybody cripple their nice fast wide ZE/ZF lenses on this box which looks like was designed by Stalin ENGs in 50sss.. just imagine what it will do to a new Zeiss 15mm f2.8
Either you haven't seen the Great Stalin's era and his stuff or you have not seen this camera  - there is no relation at all. On George Bush style fear campaign you are starting here about the lens mount could you please get Dick to issue a press package for the public knowledge/ propaganda. What the heck are you talking about !? Every where there are demo video clips and still images of this camera with Zeiss lenses that are 10 times heftier than your dinky 15/2.8 ! Find something else to troll about please.
 17.

When a Super 16 sensor looks this good with 13+ stops of DR, it makes me wonder how people can say that Panasonic is crippled like a boat anchor by the micro 4/3's format.
Yep! But does it look good? I don't like it much. The colors are not nice. Latitude? How do you tell this was not a normal HD-camcorder? If you scale the contrasts in front of the lens, if you bring all the values into these 5-6-7 or so stops (by lightening up the shadows), you have every chance of getting an image at least as dynamic as this one looks in it's 8-bit vimeo compression. Come on, trust your eyes. This is nothing worth mentioning. If it looks like film, it looks like 16mm, good enough to add some patina to the odd music video.
You sound like one of those " Art Directors " that make a living from pissing on everything in pissing distance. You end up living in your own p... - you get the picture ( and the odor ). Could you please enlighten and direct us to something that " IS " worth mentioning.
 18.
... My only concern about this camera is that it appears to be a Mac only device. Or at least not compatible with anything other than FCP X and Avid.
It's been said before here and other places - If that is your only concern then you are golden because last time I used Avid it was running on a below average HP ( that's a PC windows i'm sure ) and Adobe CS5.5 and up can handle ProRes as good as any format you through at it.
 19.
yes, so every camera is the same! It only depends from the lenses! Wow, why don't they make a 302020X crop, we'll need the right lens and the dof would be as shallow as in a super sized sensor!!!! And btw. I didn't say the 5dmarkII is the direction to go, I'm again talking about the look of those videos they posted. No sharpness at all, i'm absolutely sure they would be incredible if worked in post, but i will wait to see that. It's my opinion. I'm really excited about this camera BUT i think we have to wait for more tests, that's it. first of all the high iso tests. You people here are gh2 lovers! That camera is still solid at 3200 iso, that's what i want to see from this camera! 35mm and 16mm are not the same, 16 mm is really good but i don't think i'm the only one hoping one day we will have a super 35mm affordable camera.
I did mentioned the condition for learning as being " wise ". You chose being a clone. I wish you the best.
 20.
Oh, it's so easy? wow...so a full frame got the same dof than a 2x crop...thanx Sara! You always learn some new incredible theory in the forums!
In fact you can have identical DOF to an FF with any size imager. You just need the proper lens in proper T/stop and proper distance between the subject to camera and the background. We often match the DOF between the 35mm and super 16 ( B cams ). That is not a theory it's fact of life if you pay the bills with it. FYI - in real productions with limited time ( read it budget ) the shallow DOF often becomes too much of a good thing and we have to struggle against it. And yes, you are correct. If you are wise enough you could be learning incredible or simple stuff on these forums !
 21.
::) My eyes just rolled so hard they almost fell out of my head, really sucks that this device seems only properly compatible with Mac, why would you buy a low cost camera if you were editting on a needlessly expensive platform, you can get way more editting bang for the buck with a windows setup.  This seems more like a hipster camera.
Where did you get the idea that this device seems only properly compatible with Mac ?
 22.
Repeat, the revolution will come the day they will have this approach : "hey, let's make a 35mm sensor...ok, 4:4:4 color workflow, with various lenses mounts to be used with every dirt cheap lens, different battery options and it must work fine at 3200 iso and finally LET'S TASTE EVERY FRAME on a cinema screen" And I'm pretty sure they can make something cheaper than 3000
Aahhhaa good one. I'd love to have some of what you've been smokin' lately. Hey you never know unless you ask for it, hey !!??
