If you want to stream wedding videos with unlicensed music then it's easy enough to host on your own VPS. The traffic will be minimal & no record company could ever find your content anyway. Same goes for proof copies & demos for clients.

This pixel shift Hi Res mode only works if the subject is absolutely static i.e. no leaves moving on the trees. I's a rather limited novelty feature that can't be improved on without a radical increase in sensor read out speed.

It's also rumoured to be very large for an MFT camera at 144.37mm x 146.765mm x 75.345mm with a built-in grip. That's pretty much the size of a Nikon D810 with battery grip.

The difference is that YouTube has a mechanism for gathering revenue for the rights holders whereas Vimeo does not. Until they come up with a way of paying rights holders then their only option is to remove infringing material although their methods seem incredibly heavy handed. I don't think that anyone could really object if Vimeo just removed all infringing material but to remove every last trace of the user's account is far too drastic

Au contraire I had a Business account when I was doing wedding videos professionally. I am now retired from that but kept the videos online as a service for a few of my clients. When I stopped paying for my Business account it transitioned to a Basic account with up to 5GB storage & only 720p versions of the videos. I think there are 20-30 videos online now.
-
I have less than 5GB so although they did delete the 1080p they leave 720p versions of all videos. I was countering your claim that they delete "all your files" when clearly they don't but apply the rules you quoted when you revert to a free Basic account.
-
Not so. I just checked my old defunct account & all the videos are still there. Once you stop paying Vimeo they host 720p versions of your videos.

Ehh?? What problems have you encountered? A few years ago some ignorant police officers in London used to throw their weight around with press & TV crews until they got re-educated. Here's a link to the advice of the Metropolitan Police regarding street photography which contains this paragraph https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ph/photography-advice/ You may encounter a hysterical reaction from parents if you start photographing their children but if they are in a public place then it's perfectly legal.

Shallow DOF was the aim of amateur & low end pro videographers long before DSLRs for video came on the scene. I was on the point of buying one of those Letus ground glass DOF adapters when I discovered the 5D2.

That's very gracious & appreciated. Apologies are such a rarity on this forum & on the Internet in general.

I am leaving Vimeo over their scandalous DMCA policy

How dare Vimeo put restrictions on freeloaders! -
Are cameras without IBIS and AF useless for shooting video in 2018?
nigelbb replied to A_Urquhart's topic in Cameras
AF & stabilisation were features of "proper" camcorders before we all started shooting video with DSLRs. My Canon XH A1s had great IS & AF. It was quite a shock to focusing manually on the Canon 5D2. -
Thanks. It looks like the Pilotfly C45 is specifically designed for the RX100. I was making a more general point about it being an odd idea to control a camera on a gimbal with a smartphone app as you cannot hold the gimbal in one hand & operate an app one handed with the other. It's odd that Zhiyun have dropped the Crane M & not replaced it with anything. There is no other gimbal they make that covers the 150-600g camera range. The RX100 is about 300g. I'll probably look out for a used Crane M.
-
I'm not interested in hacks or in using my phone to control the camera. Is there another gimbal besides the Crane M that will take the RX100 without modification & uses a wire to control the camera? BTW how are you supposed to hold the gimbal in one hand & use the phone app to control the camera? Have a focus puller?
-
I'm a former wedding guy & while I experimented with primes I found zooms far more versatile. During the years I did wedding video I mostly used 5D2 or 5D3 with the 24-70mm F/2.8L & 70-200mm F/2.8L classic wedding lenses.
-
It looks like the Crane M is no longer available. Did Zhiyun replace it with another model? If not is there another alternative for the RX100 that controls the camera by wire? I don't want WiFi or Bluetooth connection as its too fiddly. I know I could get a Crane 2 but I want a small gimbal that suits the RX100.

He used to have lots more examples of different weddings. Sure they were all a bit soft & the codec did break down at times but overall they were fantastic. I'm sure that his clients were extremely pleased with such dazzling images. The video on the EM-5 II is supposed to be much better but is only HD. The EM-1 II has good 4K video but the camera itself is much bulkier. Olympus haven't produced much recently but perhaps the EM10 III as praised in another thread would do the job?
-
Thanks. That looks like the style. I'm still impressed by his work.

I have the RX100VI which is the same size as the previous models but has an amazing 24-200mm FF equivalent lens. I have only shot a bit of video as I am mainly interested in stills now but the 4K video looks excellent. I also own an RX10IV with the equally amazing 24-600mm FF equivalent zoom however it's so much bulkier & heavier that I find that 90% of the time I use the little RX100VI as image quality is identical. The AF on both is very good fast phase detect & the image stabilisation is also first rate. As a travel camera for video or stills the RX100VI is in a class of its own. I am constantly amazed at how good the image quality is with the Sony 1" sensor. BTW Very nice video. I would like to buy a gimbal to use with my the RX100VI for video & can hardly go wrong with the price of the Crane M. Can I clarify how the gimbal controls the camera with the Carne M? The specs talk about WiFi & a Bluetooth app which I don't want. The Crane 2 just has a cable that plugs into a Sony camera & controls start/stop zoom. I really want the simplicity & reliability of a simple wired connection so if the Crane M can do this then I am sold else I'll probably go for the Crane 2.

It was over five years ago that I stumbled upon the wedding videos shot by an an Israeli guy that were shot on OM-D EM5s that were amazingly good. Recently I went looking for the link that I had saved but his work doesn't seem to be on Vimeo any more. He inspired me to buy a couple of OM-D EM5s which I used to shoot the last few wedding video that I ever did. After lugging round several heavy bags containing a couple of 5DIIIs & 5DIIs & lenses plus an XF105 it was a relief to be able to carry all my gear in a small knapsack.

Here in the UK Wex have a bunch of used OM-D EM1 IIs with 12 months warranty starting at about £800. https://www.wexphotovideo.com/used-cscs/#esp_category_cf=Model&esp_category_filter_Manufacturer=Olympus&esp_category_filter_Model=E-M1 II

The Olympus OM-D EM10 III is not a new camera. It's been on sale at least a year. It was the last new camera that Olympus shipped. It has the advantage of being much smaller & cheaper than a FF or APS-C mirrorless. Sadly the size advantage is not shared with the high end MFT cameras (GH5/OM-D EM1 II/G9 etc). Olympus need to forget about protecting sales of the $2K OM-D EM1 II & put their 20MP sensor, latest IBIS & 4K video in an OM-D EM5 III High end large MFT are doomed. It's only smaller lighter cheaper MFT cameras that will sell now.
-
There is no need for MFT for bridge cameras, P&S, drones & camcorder as 1" sensors have that market sewn up. The image quality is easily good enough. The whole raison d'etre of MFT to be a smaller lighter cheaper interchangeable lens camera has gone now FF & APS-C mirrorless are barely larger than MFT cameras & the best MFT cameras (G9 & OM-D EM-1 II) are the size weight & price of FF /APS-C. Larger sensors always have an advantage in quality but MFT scores only when the trade-off is worthwhile i.e. smaller, lighter, cheaper etc

So you haven't shot a wedding video or indeed been paid for shooting any video? Which makes you an amateur videographer who has never shot a wedding video who still feels entitled to criticise a working professional doing something which you are incapable of doing. It doesn't matter how fancy a photographer you were you don't know what you are talking about.
